  1. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

The last minute was just clutch as fuck by everyone involved. I startled my roomies by doing my usual sports-guy thing of jumping out of my chair and jeering like an idiot.
  2. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

The Na'Vi vs. VG match had the most incredible ending ever. Very happy with it.
  3. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

As of right now, an hour and a half after your post Reyturner, 1d 13h 36m.
  4. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

LGD is definitely, at minimum, making the top 3. As much as I hate to say it. EG's chances of winning seem to be based on whether or not they can pull out some new strategy that not everyone resorts to and doesn't know how to counter. Secret seems most versatile. By the way the compendium is updated to allow us to make predictions on the main event. I'm confident on all my number based predictions but the character based ones I don't know. Aside from most deaths. That's totally going to Dazzle. Picked most I'm thinking QoP. Banned most... Undying? Edit - Going with Lesh for most banned and getting the most kills.

I thought I'd let everyone know "The Sarkeesian Effect" had its grand opening to an audience of... 9 people. At $120k it was about $13.3k a ticket. This is including one of the guys that made it, I think, btw.
  6. Chris' obsession with efficiency lead him to an important decision: Which uses more air in the Vault, the fires, or letting them walk allllllllllll the way to the entrance?
  7. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

The thing with people acting like a jackass in their past and remembering it is that it's all a matter of what perspective. IF someone does turn around for the better but people keep bringing up the past, the failure is on the observers, not the person who improved.
  8. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

In the DOTATV chat most people seemed to praise Team Secret as the possible winners this year, though people are down on RTZ a lot. Which is weird because that guy was making a TON of plays to win matches. The other breakout player is Sumail. That kid is amazing.
  9. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

So there's detailed results of the group stage through Team Liquid's website. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/The_International/2015 Below is the win/tie/loss counts of 2-match series, and the points each team earned. Group A 1. LGD Gaming 5-2-0 17p 2. Team Secret 4-3-0 15p 3. compLexity Gaming 4-1-2 13p 4. Cloud9 3-1-3 10p 5. MVP Phoenix 1-3-3 6p 6. Invictus Gaming 1-3-3 6p 7. Fnatic 0-4-3 4p 8. Natus Vincere Natus Vincere 0-3-4 3p Group B 1. Evil Geniuses 3-4-0 13p 2. CDEC Gaming 4-1-2 13p 3. EHOME 2-5-0 11p 4. Team Empire 2-3-2 9p 5. Virtus.pro 2-3-2 9p 6. Vici Gaming 1-4-2 7p 7. Newbee 0-6-1 6p 8. MVP HOT6ix 0-2-5 2p So uh, there's no nice way to say it but Na'Vi, MVP Hot6, and Fnatic played terribly. Newbee, the defending champs, performed mostly with ties throughout the last few days. Cloud 9 frustratingly had a tie-like record as far as raw wins and losses goes. A lot of people are saying it's gonna be Team Secret vs. LGD in the late stage of TI5 but the way the brackets are set up it's impossible for them to be in the final match. Kinda hoping to see Secret pull out ahead.
  10. Idle Thumbs episode 15, "I'll Kill the Last Alien" being a good example. And episode 33, "The Kane of Lynch."
  11. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

What match was this? I must see it.
  12. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

Team Secret vs. Na'Vi, the 2nd match. Watch it. One of the most sensational matches ever.
  13. Turns out Razer is going to fill the gap Ouya left and pay the devs the money they are owed. http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/28/9059341/free-the-game-fund-ouya-razer So there's a happy ending afterall.
  14. But what kind of recourse do they have, if any?
  15. The International 5 (TI5) - Dota 2

I kept poking into Twitch on my phone while at work today and saw some truly sensational stuff from Na'Vi and Cloud 9. But now at home things are really drag-ass and boring.
  16. Razer has acquired the Ouya. Software, tech, and dev teams. And it was an all-cash deal. Ouya founder Julie Uhrman has bowed out. http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/27/razer-confirms-ouya-acquisition/ Edit - And apparently the devs that were promised money to develop for the Ouya are being left hung out to dry. No money for them.
  17. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

    Thank you Twitter.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Clearly nobody informed them that the "big bad businessmen" were doing them a fucking favor for once.
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Swinging this back to Goobergate, they're co-opting the situation to push their masking narrative of "ethics!" to tell people not to visit Kotaku and other sites. Also that Milo douchebag is acting all outraged even though he's been, in the past, pro-doxxing and other privacy-revealing. He calls it "citizen journalism."
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Gawker did a thing tonight. That thing being outing someone's sexuality. Someone not notable. Someone that runs a business that competes with Gawker. Nobody is thrilled with the outlet, and for good reason.
  21. Well, that's awfully silly of me. That said, that's still a long time for what's already been a long time. How did the PC version get the OK for release?
  22. So everyone knows about the Arkham Knight kerfuffle where the PC version was shot to shit right? There's an update on the situation from internal emails from EB Games in Australia (retail outlet). The PC version won't be ready until spring. As in almost a year from now. http://www.pcgamer.com/batman-arkham-knight-wont-be-finished-this-season-according-to-source/
  23. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    Randi was tweeting about it.
  24. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Mike Cernovich (the lawyer who abuses his position to make personal info of GG targets public) has been suspended from Twitter. From what I understand he posted an image of a child being raped. It was edited as far as the graphic parts go but uh, yeah.
  25. Satoru Iwata has passed away

It should be noted that he was the guy who, in the wake of Nintendo taking financial losses, would pay-cut himself and have other executives do the same. Because how could the regular level employees even cover such costs, let alone why should they (since the execs make the decisions)? It was a really unique way of handling business and I've never seen it done before. Or at least heard of it.
