I put over 30 hours into Far Cry 2 (didn't even finish the game), and along the way made a little screenshot journal in Steam This one is probably my favourite, just for the story it tells

Just out of curiosity, Firefox or Chrome? Thanks for the feedback, as well

I'm also Australian! Try http://clp.me/foreshore.php?mute

So I updated a thing a made a while ago with music I made today: http://clp.me/foreshore.php It's an interactive HTML5 game (there are no goals, I guess it's a toy) Typical gameplay session looks like this:

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

That was the song that got me into the Dirty Projectors This may also take a few plays to catch on - it's by them and from the same era: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4he_jgJrMCk I've probably listened to their new album (Swing Lo Magellan) more than anything else that's come out this year A lot of people are of the opinion that the song structure/writing is simpler (I suppose less "deep") than the previous album, Bitte Orca The weird thing is that because I've listened to so much Bitte Orca over the years, my brain has dissected every song to the extent that they don't sound complex anymore After a few spins, the new album fit right in - I didn't even immediately notice that the musical style was pretty different (it's definitely way tighter and neater) I can remember walking home from work listening to Swing Lo Magellan on the day it came out, and I was super excited because I still wasn't yet familiar with every little moment in every track Basically, my experience with their music has been like Stockholm Syndrome At first I didn't understand them, eventually I began to empathise, and now (two memorized albums later) I'm totally speaking their language Also, I'm from Sydney and The Presets are goddamn huge here (probably because they're local) Dropping some E at a Presets show is a rite of passage for Australian youth -
I can vaguely remember Jake talking on a cast about how the boss of the first level of Bad Dudes eventually shows up as a generic dude when you get far enough in That pretty accurately summarises my experience with that era of video games, in terms of the very present difficulty ramp It's probably attributable to arcade game design more than the post-2005 "cinematic blockbuster Unreal Engine 3" thing that seems to be the expectation now I can beat most games on normal or hard these days without having too much trouble, but I'd still not be able to get to the later worlds of Mario 3 on one attempt It's interesting that no-one on the cast brought up Black Ops, which is both non-linear in its storytelling and historical/period fiction The whole Call of Duty series (as far as I know) features multiple perspectives within each game Pretty significant given they're likely the most-played narratives of this generation

It's weird how because you linked to it from here, I expected a really bumbling sudden opening (a la Thumbs) Maybe it's kinda like how The Office destroyed the idea of traditional sitcoms in my brain Anyhow, this isn't bad and you shouldn't quit!

If you're talking about the cameo, I'm on the same page

Parallax guy! We meet again!

We're gonna make a few games and release it as the Faux-Retro Fauxback Fun-Pack

OK, here's an engine demo of mine: (grab the 60fps video if you can) This project is a long time coming, but it's definitely moving along now

Saw this on Reddit, reminded me of the terrified Dot Gobbler kid from the cast Who let the freshman in? (a little NSFW)

They require a bit of investment but ultimately are rad and worth some internet minutes Check the latest one out (preferably in Chrome) here: http://clp.me/goodbye.php Here's what some random internet dude said about a previous work of mine - Chris Remo @chrisremo @rwcohn Pretty cool! I like that it revolves in time. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks, dudes, for the really nice response on the last thread of mine Here's my latest project - maybe a week of development time on this guy: http://vimeo.com/47778239 It's a sort of dynamic music sequencer that allows you (in its current configuration - definitely subject to change) to build little space jams I'm planning on submitting it to Freeplay (about 42 hours from now) It's running on a PC, and I'll happily distribute it if there's enough interest

And the sequel, this:

Glad you like the music, sadly I did not make it I don't use frameworks really, you don't really need them with Canvas That code is a combination of some old projects (linked above), converted C# salvage and a bit of scrappy new stuff (all mine) And there's also a bit of HSL stuff that I snatched from a Google search (linked in the header - it's just an implementation of well-understood colour theory)- 15 replies

So I'm a big fan of this dude's stuff: http://www.reddit.com/user/Leachz/submitted/ (drug themes/mature content) He's also a fan of the stuff that I make We're working together to create some sort of interactive HTML5 story comic content for a new website The thing that I created this thread about (goodbye.php) is going to be modified and used as the homepage of said site Where you come in is the fact that the big jumping off point we originally shared was this crazy idea of a parallax comic I had no idea where I'd originally seen that concept, but I guess it was in your signature right here on the Idle Thumbs forums!- 15 replies

No idea about XML man, I never use it The best crash course is just to spend a few late nights/weekends/years making experiments Either that or take one of the things that I've made and just dissect it (the source code is all there) All you need is Google Chrome and Notepad Also, bonus: http://clp.me/kingdom.html Oh, double also - did you make that parallax comic in your sig? If it is, this is a crazy coincidence that you wouldn't believe- 15 replies
