I've just started reading Wolf Of The Deep, about the captain of the Confederate commerce raider CSS Alabama.
The subject matter is immensely interesting, and the author clearly has a lot of love for it. It's a fairly short book but I thought it could have done with a little editing; it's a while before the meat of the narrative begins.
It's one of several books I've been reading researching this aspect of the war, and I was talking to a friend of mine last night who runs a comics publisher here in the UK and he said the story of a CS navy ship could make a great comic. So we'll see. Maybe I'll put a pitch together. But anyway, it's super interesting! Check it out
