I was surprised to discover that even Onos can camoflage.Nothing is more terrifying when you're a marine, that's for sure.

Climbing walls feels smoother than how I remember it in the original HL mod. I actually really enjoy playing a skulk now, whereas I kind of hated it in the HL mod. Maybe I've just gotten better at dealing with the disorientation of first-person wall climbing, though. If there is one thing I do miss from NS1, it's getting eaten by an Onos- I remember fondly the first time that happened, unable to do anything but stare at the insides of a horrible alien monster for several minutes, and think "So...when do I get to respawn?"

Idle Thumbs 81: Happy Halloween

Oh yeah, on that brief New Vegas discussion: The game's director, J.E Sawyer, is a history major, and a lot of the references to ancient Rome, like the military ranks used by the Legion and, well, the pronunciation of Caesar, among other things, are actually fairly accurate. Yeah, that's what I've heard. It's a darn shame. -

Biggest take away from Gaynor's tumblr is this strong urge to watch Ghost In The Shell again, too bad there's no good blu-ray release without all the ugly cg that was added later. -
It's particularly jarring in The Walking Dead for me, because the rest of game sets you up for a higher level of verisimilitude than "I put the shotgun behind my back and it disapeared into thin air but now I need it and it popped into my hands". I'm guessing it's done because actually animating characters putting items into a pack of some sort would be a lot of added work, and in games like Zelda, you'd still have the issue of items like giant hammers that couldn't possibly fit into a backpack worn by humans.

Hi, I think video games are neat. I also like reading about history sometimes, so I named myself after Cato the Younger, a man who I find to be a fascinating tragic hero. Anyway, I've been listening to the podcast since about two years ago, when it was called "The Idle Thumbs Podcast", and after that happened, I have listened to every single episode. Idle Thumbs mix of silly humor and thoughtful observations about the games they play is a magical mixture no other podcast has replicated, and I was going mad finding a suitable subsitute, so thanks for saving my sanity, guys!
