I really love the first scene at the Palmer house in this episode. Something about the way its shot, with "What a Wonderful World" playing in the background, and knowing what's about to come....something about it was quite powerful

Wow I can't believe that was a Zelda commercial

Idle Thumbs 192: The New Blindfolded Fool
agorman replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Chris's rant about the history channel, and Nick and Jake's reaction to it was hysterical. The original 3 thumbs together usually just end up destroying me. -
I just finished my first playthrough of The Cave and ended up enjoying it quite a bit. I played as The Twins, The Monk, and The Hillbilly. I want to play it again at some point to see some of the other character-specific levels, but I'll probably wait a bit, as I'd probably get pretty tired of it if I had to replay all the non-player specific levels. Overall

I just saw Wild and liked it quite a bit. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it, but it felt really honest....I'd seen some reviews accuse it of being oscar-baity, but I didn't feel that way at all.

Unrelated to that very disturbing video I just saw We Are The Best and adored it. It did such an amazing job of actually showing 12 year olds act like 12 year olds and reflect what that age is like. Touching and joyful

I finally beat hell in Spelunky. I imagine I'm done with that game now, but it's probably the most difficult thing I've done in a game.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 9: May the Giant Be With You
agorman replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
Man the end of this episode contains some of the most disturbing and discomforting scenes I've seen on television. -
Gah! I can't believe I just saw this Is there anyway I can still join? I guess there is always next year.

Sean and Chris you guys are totally right about Ferguson. I'm a senior at a University in St. Louis, and this year, I've seen students more involved in the community than they ever have before. A couple people in my classes have begun regularly getting breakfast in Ferguson, and helped get some students together to paint on the boarded up storefronts in order to make the businesses look more inviting. A lot of people have stopped asking "What can we do?" and have just started getting more involved in the St. Louis community, and building relationships with people outside of who they typically would. I can't say I view the events starting in August as a good thing, as the death of Mike Brown is incredibly tragic, but being so close to all of these events has giving me an incredible hopeful and optimistic view of humanity, and I feel incredibly blessed (maybe not the right word), to be there while all of this happened.

I saw both Birdman and The Congress. Man I really liked Birdman a lot. I thought the acting was just phenomenal and loved the camera work going on in it, and overall just thought it was a fantastic movie. Conversely I really really really didn't like The Congress. I liked the animation style, and thought it had some great visuals, but thought the movie really was just a mess. The beginning dragged on for ages, the movie tried to have so many different themes and layed them on all so thick (Oh the big mega movie studio is called Miramount! Get it??), and really failed to create believable characters or relationships (at least in my eyes). Has anyone else seen it?

Went as Dale Cooper. Really it consisted of me doing my hair and shaving my beard, but my date and I both really wanted to do Twin Peaks.

Totally fair Tegan, I guess I was thinking more along the lines of Leigh Alexander, Danielle, and Cara Ellison, which are the journalists I'm more familiar with. I will admit I'm not very familiar with the YouTube scene and jumped to conclusions I shouldn't have. Reading through this thread kind of just made me angry and I kind of just jumped to my keyboard to be like blahhhh...thanks for pointing that out to me!

You're generalizing a lot here dude. What do you mean by the female talking heads at a video game website? I haven't found them to be "wearing tank tops and flirting with the camera"

Can we not post private Facebook conversations on these forums? I know it's out there on the net, but seeing someone posting it on here is really gross and depressing to me. Edit: I also feel uncomfortable with how long this conversation has gone on. Her personal life is nobody's business, and I have no idea why so many people are so endlessly fascinated with it.

Yeah I was jumping to conclusions.

I've just started listening to Slate's Audio Book Club after seeing Chris tout it on twitter, and am enjoying it quite a bit. I've just been listening to their past episodes on books I've already read, but their discussions have been though-provoking and enjoyable to listen to. They did one for the last Harry Potter book, and brought their kids in to record it, which was hilarious, and awesome to listen to.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
