I had forgotten this was coming out so soon! Between this, The Witness and Firewatch; I'm going to have a lot of good new stuff to introduce to my other half.
  2. XCOM 2

Yeah, I think they credited that addition to Massive Chalice, which is cool.
  3. Whoa, a surprise Steve!
  4. [DevLog] Gravity Wolf / Dino's Side Project Circus

Yesss. This is some HOT STUFF.
  5. Return of the Steam Box!

Since it arrived, I've been using the Steam controller more regularly than my 360 controller. For playing games, that is; I'm ignoring game development stuff. I really really like it.
  6. [RELEASE] Button Frenzy

Thanks for playing Spenny! Yeah, I've been thinking about that; and I have the systems in place already to do it, but the problem is that I don't want to create a situation whereby the difficulty ramp is fine for the first few runs, and then as the player gets better, the beginning part is way too easy and boring as a result. Any ideas to combat this? Yeah, I find the face buttons easier too. I want to make the labels all easy to parse, and I think there's a better way for the thumbsticks than what I'm currently doing.
  7. [RELEASE] Blue Hag Christmas

Also, wrong thread I guess but it turns out Cwine is pretty great! Do you plan on using it again?
  8. [RELEASE] Blue Hag Christmas

Okay, so I guess I went into this game pretty blind, or I'm just forgetful, because I was totally unaware that there was a whole comic inside of the comic and didn't see it until my second playthrough. The sense of surprise that I got from totally misjudging the boundaries of the game the first time around made me audibly say "What?.... Whoa!". At which point my fianceé overheard and wanted to know what I was doing, so she played along with me through The Oftenending Story. I enjoyed it. It has a nice sense of humour that puts a smile on your face.

Thanks friend! Yeah the comments section is classic Steam Community . It's fine though! It's better for me to just laugh at it than to get worked up over it.

Thanks! Yeah I will, it's only been up for a night but it's been a harrowing ride so far. Haha I KNOW. Steam comments, right? I'm lucky to have a thick-ish skin about comments from having done Youtube stuff in the past. Personal fave so far: the guy chanting PC master race and assuming the game is a console port because... there's a controller?
  11. The threat of Big Dog

It doesn't matter what you leave out, Petman will take what it wants.

Speaking of the jam; I just put my Wizard Jam game up on Steam Greenlight! I've decided to keep working on it and make it into a full thing. The page is here, if you're interested: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=576631024 A vote and a nice comment would mean sooo much.

This game is now on Steam Greenlight! I decided to keep working on it and make it into a full thing. I just launched the greenlight page a few minutes ago and I'm pretty terrified! The page is here, if you're interested: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=576631024
  14. [Question] Unity3d first person development

I think it's handled differently in different games. In your FPS example, instead of having a multiple cameras, some games have a second version of the gun model which can only be seen by the player, and the actual model that everyone else sees is hidden from the player.
  15. I don't think he was speaking to the exact length of the game or amount of content in a quantifiable way, he's just saying that he feels as though we still haven't seen anything of huge impact or importance yet.
  16. To answer your question, yes, this is extremely dumb. Also, that bit on the Destructoid article is really scummy. Either recommend the game or don't, but don't encourage people to exploit the refunds system so they can play it for free.

Clyde!!! This video made my day "Everything feels really phat" - Clyde (2015)

Hah, it is totally over polished. I went into this jam with a deliberately basic game idea so that I could put a load of extra time into putting a gross amount of detail and polish into tiny things. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! You got the black boxes? That was a bug that I thought I had fixed but apparently I hadn't! Thanks for letting me know!

It's not just you, it is hard, maybe too hard at the moment! I do need to make some tweaks to give the player an easier time, but I still want it to be a stressful experience to a certain degree. In past experience, when a score-attack game of this style is too easy, it becomes (for want of a better phrase) chore-like; which is fine if you're designing for a relaxing or meditative experience; but I wanted to make something on the more stressful side, like Super Hexagon or Flappy Bird. I'm thinking about ways in which I can make the game feel more "fair" without actually making it significantly less challenging. Printing the button letters on the controller mesh sounds like something I could do in that direction. But yeah, thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts, Ben.

Maybe a deadzone would fix that... Thanks for the heads up. And yeah, an options menu was totally over the top for a jam game . I did want the practice though; plus I built it in such a way that I can re-use it in other projects easily, so not a total waste of time! Thanks Elvaq!
  21. Walking in a WINTER WIZARD JAM

And of course, thanks Spenny for putting this all together! I had a great time with this, both on the participation and on the helping out side.
  22. [WIZARD] Jam Feedback

Streaming the games is a good idea. Maybe have a few people hanging out in a Skype/Hangout call for some fun conversation on stream. I'd be up for doing that sometime this week.
  23. Quick Question about Protocol

Yeah, what Twig said is accurate. But if you wanted to, you could leave up the original jam deadline build for anyone who really wants to see what you did within the 2 weeks, and upload newer builds too. Itch.io lets you host several versions of your game, and lets you label them accordingly.

It seems to crash in the main menu when you're in the "start game" screen for some reason . I plan to go back and investigate what causes it, cause it's super annoying. That's an interesting idea, having the sequence play out a rhythm. If end up developing this any further I might figure out how to do that. Thanks for playin!
