You sneaky sneak. -
Sadly, I can't seem to find a job browsing Reddit and the Idle Thumbs Forums. Not suggesting school per se, but personally I have about $12,000 CAD in student loans left to pay off.

Hold it now and watch the hoodwink, As I make you stop, think, You'll think you're looking at Aquaman. I summon fish to the dish Although I like the Chalet Swiss I like the sushi 'cause It's never touched a frying pan. ...what the hell was this song even about? Its been around ever since I was a young 'un, and I still don't know what to think of it. -
Idle Thumbs 108: A Premium Price

As I find myself using Netflix more and more often, and I find myself pandering to my incredibly pointless Gamerscore, I find the union between non-game applications and achievements an interesting idea that I kind of like. I can get achievements for doing even less now! Which, if the points meant anything, would really devalue them, but because they're useless, there's nothing to protect, so it's alright! ...I think. -
I aim to please. ...can I also just take a moment to mention how much I love the variety of emoticons on this forum?

So... one of my roommates just moved out. So this months rent coming up is higher than I was expecting, and I'm not 100% sure I'll have enough to cover the new fee. On top of that, I'll still have to make a student loan payment soon. And I still have no job. I've already applied for Employment Insurance, but it will take a few weeks before I see any of it (assuming that, after filling out a bunch of forms, I am actually eligible for anything.) Right now the only possible way I can see of getting the money I need on time is either to try and get some money owed to me for a freelance project I did last year (but so far thats gone nowhere), or to sell some stuff (not that I have a lot right now... some games, my Mac, and some old textbooks...) Stress levels at maximum, Captain! Full speed ahead!

Mine just gets horrible motion sickness.

The Curse of Monkey Island: I loved this game. I loved the art, the animation, the voice acting, the music, the story, the humour, the puzzles... it all worked so well for me as a child. I have incredibly fond memories of it, and I think because I played it at a young age that it really influenced what I like in games now. Every once in a while I get an incredibly urge to go back and play it. Also, I remember my mom bought it one day while we were shopping. I lived in a small town, so there were no game stores, but one hardware store had a rack of discounted PC games, and on that rack was Curse for $10-$15. My mom bought it because she thought it looked neat. I wasn't completely convinced, and tried convincing her to get something else (I now have no idea what that other game might have been). She sort of put her foot down and bought Curse, and I am eternally greatful for that.

And if those two coincide, it is time for a trip to the "Weird Medical Problems" thread.

That's bloody ridiculous. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to clean this bloody axe.

Wait, those are a Canadian thing? I always just assumed they were... well, everywhere...

Cheque is quite nice, but the best thing about being Canadian is the poutine. I am a physical being who derives more pleasure from physical sensations, in this case, the sensation of delectable poutine as it slides down my throat hole. Mmm....

This is one of my favourite posts, and has resonated with my sense of humour in a most colourful fashion.

I've been here since February. I have no real furniture in my room. My computer and mattress both sit on the floor. I want to get rid of the box that my mattress came in, but its the only thing in here taller than 2 feet besides me. I would just feel so alone if Billy Box Thornton left...

As much as a lot of people didn't like the present timeline of AC, I kind of liked it. In fact, it was the entire reason I bothered to pick up AC2. But as the series went on, it slowed down, and then stopped, and they just kept pulling stuff out of their asses... Felt a lot like LOST, actually.

Well, while I don't really play DOTA, I just want to say congrats on expanding the lineup. I will probably listen to it later, but right before I go to bed, the way I listen to some sports-based podcasts: I don't know what they're talking about, so I dont have to pay attention, but I have voices soothing me to sleep.

No, no. Guess the song's over then. Guess so, okay, back to work. Well gee, I feel a little guilty now... I listened to it way too often. I think it was the first game I had played that had a real song with lyrics in it, which seemed amazing to me. Add to that the fact that I was still kind of amazed about a game with voice acting, and just generally loving the game as a whole, it became something I listened to a LOT. Even as a kid I clearly had no life.

While I was in college, the Brawl tournaments were a great bonding experience among people in my classes.

So I took a trip down childhood/teenage-hood lane and have been watching "Shaman King". I almost forgot how much I loved this show. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And say what you will about 4Kids dubs, I will never be able to see Ryu as anything but a guy with a "Spanish" accent named Rio.

The worst is realizing you didn't know you don't know, you know?

My sex ed class consisted of "Penis goes in vagina. Semen in vagina make baby. Condom/pill/other stuff stop semen in vagina." followed by STD slideshows. And then the technical names for all the dangly bits, with a little diagram that we were tested on.

A pirate I was meant to be, Trim the sails and roam the sea! I still sometimes burst into that song for no reason.

I know. There have been too many times where I have almost given away two or even three times the number of bills I meant to. They all sort of stick together, and you have to constantly be paying attention to how many you have.

Please don't, it's bad for the cartridges.

Drugs have never really been my thing. Part of it is because in high school I didnt really have many friends, and most of them were the "stay at home and play video games instead of going to parties" kind of people, so I wasn't exposed much to it. The other part is more of a personal reason... years ago, back in Grade 8 or so, I went out of town to visit family. One of my older cousins (he was like 8 or 9 years older than me) was there, and got a little tipsy. We ended up talking about stuff, and then he got really quiet and asked if I had ever done drugs. I hadn't. He told me he never wanted to find out I did, that it was just a bad thing to get into. He asked me to promise I wouldn't. I said yes, not really thinking about it. Well, that was around the end of the night, and my parents decided to call it a night and we left. A couple of weeks later, he, his fiancee, and his fiancee's parents were found dead in a camper, of carbon monoxide. So, long story short, me promising I wouldn't do any drugs was kind of the last thing I ever said to my cousin, so I try to keep that promise. That said, I don't have anything against people who do it, its a personal choice. I'm just glad the friends I made in college were cool with not pushing me on the matter.
