I use Steam as a store and a list of my games. Everything else is just extra and doesnt really bother me.

My friends and I have a "game" (I guess) where we start saying animal names as if the animal was saying its own name the way a Pokemon would. We each try to make the funniest name/voice combo. The current winner? A long, drawn out, slow sounding "Salmon":

First off, I want to say that, if it weren't for CBC's streaming, I would never watch hockey. Secondly... I love finding old consoles, and hooking them up to play just once more. I was sad the last time I found my Sega Genesis, but couldn't find the Ac adapter thingy. I still have everything else (including a copy of Earthworm Jim) but cant play it because of that one missing cord.

I actually just finished watching that on YouTube about an hour ago. I'm still blown away by that entire episode. I felt so bad for the servers there.

I feel like another part of the problem is the variety of things considered "games". There are tons of genres and platforms. Is the person playing Farmville for 3 hours a day more of a gamer than the guy who spends an hour playing Borderlands and half an hour reading game news each day? Is the one who plays new FPS games a different class of gamer from the guy who plays Tetris competitively? To take your analogy a bit further, sometimes its like calling someone who watches hockey a "baseball player".

The more I hear about X and Y, the more excited I am about them. I honestly haven't looked forward to a Pokemon game this much since... oh, Gold and Silver, I think.

I have noticed that I tend to avoid the term "gamer" when I can. It still feels like it has a negative connotation to it, so I try to distance myself from it. But its still the best single word I have for what I like to do, so I'm conflicted at times.

I just watched Iron Man 3 last night. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I don't think it's one of the movies I'll remember long into the future. Not like Hot Fuzz, that is the one movie I will always watch just once more.

I went to the Ottawa ComicCon on Sunday. By myself. I had a great time, but it made me feel really lonely afterwards.

For that question I just checked the javascript and found the answer that way. It was really bothering me.

THATS how you increase HP? ...guess I'm gonna eat some more candies, then.

Just finished Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction. I love the entire series, and this one was no exception. ...well, alright, the final boss battle felt a little easy compared to other games in the series. But thats not too much of a complaint.

I left this running while I went and finished playing Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction. Came back, spent tons of lollipops on swords upgrades. Now I feel so very, very poor.

Thats probably a good idea.

Apparently I might have "Exploding Head Syndrome".

Oh god. That's just... cringe worthy. I thought programming languages were based on... you know, logic? I see none here. Back to playing with Python.

I haven't used an actual e-reader (no Kindle or Kobo or whathaveyou) but I have increasingly begun using my iPod Touch to read public domain books. I still prefer having an actual, physical book, but for the most part its not too bad. The problem is sometimes getting a book with really wonky formatting... page numbers in the middle of a paragraph, that type of thing. Probably alleviated when you get eBooks from a reputable source (Amazon or some such) instead of just random websites with free books.

As is the case with most language apps, Duolingo is nice, but works best if you're using some kind of lessons besides it. Duolingo ends up being just rote memorization if you aren't using other tools outside of it. I started trying to learn German with Duolingo, and while its nice and I have learned stuff, I am completely baffled by the grammar because it doesnt have actual.... lessons. Just activities.

We can put Kerbals on the moon, but apparently we cannot make an ant-proof bedroom.

Idle Thumbs 104: Emblematic of the Dissonance
Ucantalas replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I have to be honest: AFK players in Neptune's Pride are starting to anger me a little. They leave a vacuum of power in whichever section of the universe they occupy... and the current match I'm playing has seen 5 of the 8 players AFK, so I might be a little biased. GTA IV (which I've started playing recently after all the talk of GTA V) really feels like the ridiculous parts don't fit in. In, say, Vice City, it felt like it all worked together to make a cohesive, insane experience, but there's such a large disconnect between the main storyline and what happens if you just run around doing whatever. And that's actually affected how I play the game: In other GTAs I had no problem running around gathering weapons, going on rampages, and doing crazy car chases. But in GTAIV, I always try to get missions, and I try my best to be a reasonable driver and stuff. I limit myself in game, to try and make something a bit more like a serious gangster movie and less like a GTA game... -
So to "get ready" for this game I've borrowed a friend's copy of GTA IV and started playing it. I'm actually a lot more invested in Niko's character than any previous GTA protagonist, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing what happens with him.

I used to work as a Subway employee for a couple of years in highschool. I wish there was a standard for each sandwich, it would cause so much less confusion. People arent always clear what they want, some people take forever deciding... it can be a real mess. But the biggest pain? The "Subway Melt". In commercials, always shown toasted with nice melted cheese... In reality, only melty if you want it toasted. I cannot believe how much grief I have gotten from that.

I sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with my brain because I suck at remembering things.

Ugh. Haven't been able to get a job yet... paid my rent and student loans for this month, and realized I only have $30 left. The worry is coming hard and strong now.

...well, it sounds more fun than the typical Call of Duty game. Your goal is to scare the terrorists using only occasional bursts of interactivity with the environment... you can knock a cup off a ledge or push a button, but cant stay within the physical realm for extended periods of time... Done right this could actually be kind of neat.
