  1. Inclusion in Gaming

Hey guys, I've been thinking lately about inclusion in gaming. I've made a video exploring my opinions about inclusion in first person shooters, but I thought it'd be interesting to open up the discussion to other genres as well. What stops you from playing a particular game, or particular genre? Are there any games in particular that feel especially tough to get into, whether due to perceived complexity or difficulty? What about games that were once exclusive but have now become mainstream hits? Is there a game you really want to play but can't for some reason (like it's too expensive, or it would take up too much of your time)? Beardo
  2. Inclusion in Gaming

I used to have the same issue when I played Modern Warfare 2. Turned out that running around like an idiot isn't conducive to avoiding a headache. I also found that higher FPS helps me avoid motion sickness. Since upgrading my GPU I've experienced it a lot less.
  3. Titanfall

That's amazing. Would've been even better if you turned back to the grunt but he'd disappeared...
  4. Inclusion in Gaming

I loved playing World of Warcraft but I hated interacting with people. I'd always try to do everything solo. Maybe that's why I love Skyrim so much. MMORPG without the MMO.
  5. Inclusion in Gaming

I keep trying to make a go at Crusader Kings II but every time I load it up I bounce off the interface. There's a lot of initial time investment required and I haven't sat down and learned it yet. One day...
  6. Shadowrun Kickstarter

Nice one, that mod sounds really cool. I've downloaded Nightmare Harvest as well. Think I'll try a decker this time rather than a street samurai.
  7. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I finished the main campaign last night and was generally really happy with the experience. The last series of fights got a bit tedious for me and the combat system started to show its limitations more but overall I had a lot of fun. Looking forward to trying Dragonfall now.
  8. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi all, I've been lurking the forums for awhile, posting here and there. I'm a lifelong gamer from Canada, currently living in the UK. I've recently started a YouTube gamer channel (shameless plug: http://www.youtube.com/HeyBeardo) that focuses on analysis filtered through my personal gaming history. I've become a big fan of the Idle Thumbs podcast and especially love the mix of gaming and personal experience. Keep up the super work! Beardo
  9. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I've been having a load of fun with Shadowrun Returns after getting it from a Steam sale. Can't wait to try some of the community content.
  10. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Hey all, my new video's up with my thoughts on Dark Souls: exploration, death, and making friends with enemies.
  11. Ghost Recon Phantoms

I've made a short video with my initial thoughts on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms (ridiculously long name), a new F2P from Ubisoft. Is it too early to tell if it'll be pay to win? I've played a bit more after this was made and run across a few more things that concern me: - having to spend points to repair armour - having to spend points to buy grenades; good in theory but can become a nadespam nightmare for people who load up on them - the Metro map is startlingly similar to BF4's Operation Metro and plays about just as well; loads of chokepoints Have you guys checked it out yet? What are your thoughts? Beardo

  13. Plug your shit

Thanks! I'm still tweaking the audio to find a good balance, since my voice is low in normal speaking.
  14. V The Elder Scrolls

How do I create meaningful characters for myself when playing Skyrim? Why don't I always take the most powerful weapons? Who are you and what are you doing in my house? Beardo
  15. Plug your shit

Hey Thumbs, here's my latest video on my relatively new YouTube channel. How do I create meaningful characters for myself when playing Skyrim? My focus is a critical look at gaming, seen through the lens of my personal video game history. Take a look and let me know what you think. Beardo
  16. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

It came over time, after stumbling a bit when I first started. I moved on to other games but struggled whenever I came back to Borderlands 2. My last play through was painful: basically an hour of killing bugs.
  17. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I originally posted this in a new thread because I wasn't aware of this one, so forgive the double post! I've made a new video looking at the reasons I stopped playing Borderlands 2, after getting over 60 hours of fun from it. Anyone else have the same experience? Beardo
  18. Titanfall

Is Titanfall the new model for first person shooters? Does it live up to the hype? Will I ever get tired of rodeoing enemy Titans? Beardo
  19. Many thanks. It's SWFIT_V02 by Orgdot, open source.
  20. I've made a new video with a look at the current state of alphas and early access, with an examination of why I played a load of Day Z and then stopped:
  21. 1. Unfortunately this is pretty common. You'll get people killing on sight (or attempting to) anyhwere you go in Day Z SA. Airfields and big cities are normally death zones. A lot of people get bored with the Alpha (there's not much to do once you're fully geared) and so decide to amuse themselves. Add to that people who see Day Z as a largescale deathmatch and you'll get a lot of dickheads trying to kill you. 2. Gun components (like handguard for M4A1 or scopes for Mosin) have durability but the guns themselves don't, as far as I know. 3. Apparently defibs aren't fully implemented yet so no use carrying them around. By the way, if you find an M4A1 or a semiautomatic pistol you'll need to find magazines along with the rounds. The Mosin and Magnum you can load wtihout magazines.
  22. Received the Standalone for Christmas, been playing loads since then. I never played the mod (was waiting for the Standalone) but I've been thinking of going back and picking it up (if it shows up in the Steam sale). I'd like to start playing with a group as I keep getting killed on sight, no matter how well I'm geared, and playing with other like-minded people seems like the best way to proceed. I've joined the Day Z Thumbs group on Steam so hopefully I'll see some of you in game!
  23. Walking Dead Season the Second

I enjoyed it, though it was over pretty quick. More of an experience than a game. Pretty grim, really surprised me at one point. A nice introduction to the new season, if a bit short on gameplay. Definitely sets the tone and expectations of things to come.
