  1. General Video Game Deals Thread

I was thinking about Titanfall this evening on my bike ride. Really great game, that. Unfortunately, I think its time has come and gone for me, personally.
  2. Favorite Level in a video game

HALO: Combat Evolved - The Silent Cartographer
  3. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

They're currently running through Ori and the Blind Forest and one of the dudes in the couch crew worked on the game.
  4. Most of the complaints in the Ars review are only relevant if you have more than 500 programs installed. There are also some minor visual bugs here and there. Nothing that sounds horrendous and most of it seems like an edge case, honestly.
  5. So this is getting fantastic reviews--though Ars Technica has recommended waiting a few weeks to update your system in the hopes that a few rough edges can be sanded down via updates. I'm torn; do I update tomorrow or wait a bit and miss out on all the launch day fun?
  6. It's nothing we haven't seen before, but the caliber of the writing has me intrigued.
  7. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Some Half-Life 2 vibes here.
  8. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

Also Danielle--did you watch the DKC block? There were some insane moments during the DKC any% race that blew my mind.
  9. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

I really appreciate the runners' talents, but I hate the vernacular which has sprung up around the speed running scene. Even an enthusiastic, positive guy like Trihex says things that just grate on me. I'm probably just old and crotchety though.
  10. Is anyone else strangely excited for the new Wolfenstein game?

So I picked up The Old Blood for $5 during GMG's summer sale. I might enjoy this more than the full game. Has anyone else played the expansion yet?
  11. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

There was a moment where the RE4 speedrunner said something like, "yeah, Ashley's overweight--her hitbox is really big." It seemed a little inappropriate to me for a public livestream for charity. Turned it off pretty shortly after that.
  12. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

So Ashley's special costume in RE4 is unfathomably disgusting. They've modeled her labia.
  13. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Glad I waited on picking this up. By the time it's fixed, I should be able to pick it up cheaply during a Steam sale.
  14. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

Pretty much everything but the actual talent on display is frustrating. These Sonic Adventure guys are annoying as hell.
  15. Summer Games Done Quick 2015

This Sonic Boom run is nuts. The exploits are just bonkers.
  16. Rorie half-jokingly said they were looking for a new designer, so I submitted my resume. There's not a chance in hell that they'll hire me, but maybe the guys will see it and get a laugh.
  17. (This thread was originally titled Patirck Klepek has left Giant Bomb) Simultaneously surprising and expected. I always got the impression there was an unspoken tension between him and Jeff Gerstmann. I'll miss the plucky little fellow.
  18. The hyperthreading is the primary difference, but there are 2011 socket i7s that are hex core CPUs. Those are ludicrously priced, however.
  19. An i7 is overkill for 80%+ of the market. You'll definitely find more value in buying an unlocked i5 and overclocking it.
  20. I am in agreement with this post and specifically of the mindset that you should upgrade your processor and mobo before your GPU. A 560 might not be ideal for MGS V, but I can tell you that Ground Zeroes is the one game I've witnessed that really took advantage of multi-core CPUs. A 750Ti is a fine card, but you'll be better served by upgrading to a quad core CPU and getting a DX12-native card down the line. Just one man's opinion.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I find your combative pedantry tiresome and wish you'd stop.

You've got this wrong on a couple of counts. Firstly, there was no sex, there was only the solicitation. When the escort tried to extort the CFO of Conde Nast, the CFO turned around and backed out of the whole situation, saying his flight had been delayed. And this is all assuming that all the evidence presented by the escort is true which, judging by his now-public FB profile, isn't an easy sell (the escort is a 911 Truther and full-on conspiracy theorist). Secondly, the talk about being a public figure mostly revolves around the CFO's ability to sue for libel and win. It's much more difficult for a public figure to win libel suits, so painting the CFO as one would help Gawker's (potential) defense--the problem is the flimsiness of that argument.
  23. Keiji Inafune's Mighty No.9

    Cagey I'm a Phony \o
  24. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    It's not Aurini's version, it's Owen's. He's trying to embarrass Owen publicly.
