Now I've gone and done it.

Mad Max 2 is a feature-length escort mission, isn't it?

This is 27% off on GMG this weekend, people.

More incentive to upgrade my GPU later this year...maybe a birthday present to myself? I can make it another seven months.

Resource Extraction Site bounty hunting is definitely the most profitable short-term game loop. If you want to do some exploring, buy a Cobra and outfit it with a detailed surface scanner, better FSD and a huge fuel scoop. Scanning planets and then selling the info to Universal Cartographics can add a lot of credits to your bank. I find most of the "missions" available at stations too similar and unprofitable so I ignore them, personally. Currently in the process of saving money to buy an Asp because ship lust is as good a motivator as any. If we can get a private group together for Thumbs, I think you'd enjoy playing with other people--even the asinine stuff becomes fun when you're not alone.

I honestly yield better results with OBS than through Nvidia's Shadowplay.

I kind of want to play this again. Maybe I should get everyone at work involved. -
GTAV has the best water I've seen--the simulation of waves is pretty astonishing. Before that, I'd have given the crown to HALO 3.

So when are we going to form a Thumbs wing and go hunting in a resource extraction site? Finally flying a Cobra with a little over 3 million in the bank. Looking longingly at that Asp.

Is that your Imperial Cruiser?

They're consistently adding more. In fact, a very massive update was detailed to owners earlier this week, which includes the ability to align yourself with certain factions to help increase the territorial/zone control aspects of the game. I guess it depends on what you crave, but I mostly wanted a beautiful, well-designed simulator wherein I flew spaceships and blew shit up, and I got that. But if you have trouble with games that don't present a clearly defined goal, then Elite ain't for you.

So how come when I land at a Fed-controlled base I can't claim my reward? It wasn't like I was bounty hunting on purpose--an NPC interdicted me and I decided to blow him up instead of running away. The voucher makes no note of what system I was in, it just says "Federation."
-
So I suffered an interdiction and decided that instead of fleeing, I was going to shoot that space jerk. About five minutes into the fight, two federation eagles swooped in to assist me and I collected a claim for the space jerk's bounty. Where I do I redeem my claim for credits? I wasn't actively searching for this guy, and it only seems to mention that I need to be at Federation base--do I need to go to a specific system to get my money?

Steam just launches the E:D client, so any advantage is probably just the auto updating and having the Steam overlay (which is good if you want to check your FPS while flying). I still haven't done anything much yet, as I've spent the last couple evenings wrapping my head around the CH Control Manager. The CHCM lets you designate inputs for the stick, and you can even use a button as a shift key to essentially double the functionality of your stick. I've got most of the primary commands set up on just a single stick (without the throttle...for now), and it's very handy to not have to press a bunch of keys on the keyboard. For instance, I've got one hat mapped to shift+WASD while pressing the pinky trigger and the cardinal buttons, and the hat reverts to just WASD when I release the pinky trigger. This is fantastic for when you get into landing so that I can just zero out the throttle, pull the pinky trigger, and then use a hat for maneuvering thrusters to zero in on the pad. I'm sure I'll evolve my bindings as I go, but it's a very cool feature to have so that I can minimize the amount of KB usage. I imagine it'll be even better when I can add a proper throttle and a few more buttons and hats into the mix.

So my coworker who wanted a key didn't end up needing it. I've got one unused US-region key for a thumb in need! -

That didn't have anything to do with the problem--some how the drivers stopped working once I installed E:D. Managed to get everything up by installing CH's programming software. So far I've only managed to fly to another station and successfully dock, but this might be the best game ever. I'm going to need a throttle.

Just KBM & the stick. I tried a different USB port and the game loaded with me doing cartwheels. Windows recognizes the stick, and testing it confirms all the buttons work and the axes register as well.
-
So I got my stick and I bought the game and...the stick doesn't do anything. Windows sees it, but the game acts like it doesn't. Googling this is fucking impossible. How do I get Elite to recognize my stick and accept input from it? The manual is fucking useless in this regard.

I went with the Corsair Carbide 200R, which has a 120 intake and 120 exhaust fan. I have room for another intake on the side panel (two, actually, but my CPU cooler is too big to fit a second one on the panel at the moment) and a pair of exhaust fans on the top of the case. Is it worth the extra cash for some extra ventilation? I only have one more PWM header on my MOBO, but I know they make PWM splitters. Can you run a case fan of the optional CPU header? -
MOBA, mo' problems.
