  1. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

MGS is still mechanically dense, especially for its time. I don't think that Phantom Pain is more demanding of today's players than MGS was 17 years ago. Plugging controllers into port 2. Looking on the back of the game's physical case for a crucial hint. Temperature-sensitive passkeys for Rex. Shipping yourself around with multiple cardboard boxes.
  2. My power has gone out like four times in the last week, so it has come in handy.
  3. Also, Paul Schrader's a genius. Taxi Driver is hypnotic to me. The second unit photography of a decaying city soundtracked by Bernard Herrmann just sucks me right in. There's like three or four career-making performances in this movie. It's dark, violent and uncomfortable, but I can't turn away.
  4. Detroit: Does Quantic Dream of Awkward Subtitles?

David Cage makes games that I rent via Redbox. $10 seems like the right amount to spend playing Quantic Dreams' next game.
  5. Insurgency

So I really hate the name of this game. But I have to admit that it's a bunch of fun to play. Has anyone else tried this?
  6. Insurgency

I would definitely be down to play some coop with some Thumbs if y'all want to get a game together.
  7. Detroit: Does Quantic Dream of Awkward Subtitles?

Apparently I blocked all of that out. I do, however, remember feeling really uncomfortable when I partnered up with a child soldier in Africa.
  8. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

    It's all lies.
  9. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Yes, I am excepting them because they're not as good.
  10. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Finally "finished" the game. Can't imagine caring about the ending at all. It was just fine and the rule still stands--the best MGS games are the odd-numbered ones.

  12. Photos of things

Went to a friend's wrestling show. He wrestled the silver guy, I do believe (I left early).
  13. Monster Factory

I cannot get enough of this video series featuring Justin & Griffin McElroy. Some highlights:

  15. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

So did y'all see the post on Kotaku about the unknown transmission breakthrough? http://kotaku.com/months-later-elite-dangerous-players-make-major-disco-1736308597
  16. Super Mario Maker

Watching Patrick Klepek tackle the GB community levels was a delightful stroll down schadenfreude lane.
  17. Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest games ever crafted by man. I would hold it up with both Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. The level design, music and mechanics are nearly flawless.
  18. Far Cry PRIMAL

Would much rather someone gave us a new Turok.
  19. Life

So this guy I never met but frequented a message board I've been posting on for more than a decade passed away and we all just found out. It's really fucking me up. This is a horrible feeling.
  20. Aren't there already games utilizing Microsoft's server farms to deliver bigger experiences? Weren't Titanfall's AI calculations handled by Azure servers?
