I dunno about it having been done before but that sounds pretty dope.
-
Yeah, sorry for the off-topic stuff. I have what I think is an at least passable story outline for my twine game. I've made a start on actually getting it written so I guess I'm actually doing this thing. How odd.

I like your art mockup! Sweet vibe/palette. If you mean like, noises noises (sound effects), as3sfxr is a real popular 8 bit-sounding synth engine that's pretty straightforward to get cool sounds out of, even blindly. If you mean music then that's a little tougher for me to recommend since I've pretty much always had some kind of musical knowledge (as asshole-ish as it sounds). Garageband is really straightforward if you're on a Mac (though something tells me that's not likely on this forum). Reaper is cool and sort of free, but I'd imagine it'd be a little intimidating without any prior knowledge of recording or music. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'd offer my services but if you're looking to do things off your own back then more power to you; good hunting!

I think it's fairly open to interpretation. Vibe is everything, right?

I hear you on that; makes a lot of sense. I guess I'd never considered my skillset to be that applicable to game jams even though that's clearly a dumb thing to think.

I think it was just height but the site itself just says that the requirement is "based on the theme image" so I wouldn't worry too much.
-
Theme image has been decided! This was the one I voted for so I'm pretty stoked. Better get twine fired up. Again, if anyone is interested in getting some bespoke music or sound then hit me up.

You Slut! are from my hometown! Reuben are one of my absolute favourite bands; while I can dig this solo stuff I don't think it quite captures the magic of those older songs. Regardless, I'm stoked to see Lenman live at some point.

That line of Raz's when inspecting the doll was priceless. I binged on the 2012 docs over the past couple days; love this stuff a whole lot.

This is dope, I really like your style! If you're into working together then so am I; feel free to PM me to avoid thread coagulation. Let's all make games. Everyone. All of us. Games. Jam. Jamming. Jamming games in the game jam. Cool.

I feel like there's a challenge with hooking up with designers and programmers in that I'm really hesitant to cold call (for want of a better term) in threads/on twitter/etc. looking to get involved, but at the same time there aren't many decent options to put yourself out there without having prior experience. I've been lucky enough to have a couple of my songs used in various projects via sites like indiegamemusic.org but beyond building a relationship from the ground up and being called upon to contribute foremost as a friend I don't really see any comfortable way to establish working relationships as someone starting out. Thoughts? I guess I should add, I'm a music technology student aiming to work as a composer and sound designer. If you wanna hear examples of my stuff there's some things on my soundcloud. Happy art-ing!

I too would be totally into teaming up to make something. I was planning on writing something in twine with a little music but if I can lend my music/sound help to anyone (or if anyone wanted in on my dumb thing) then that'd be sweet. Lil sample of a warmup track I've been working on: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19116875/ls_wip1.mp3 Cyberpunk is best -punk.

Dark Souls is £3.74 on Xbox Marketplace right now if, like me, you've been holding off on getting into it. Bunch of other deals too, including SRIV, Metro: Last Light and Mass Effect.

There's a bunch of really beautiful stuff going on in here; I got myself a new desktop background thanks to those space mushrooms. This is probably wayyyy premature but if you're interested then I'd love to get involved with music/sound if this gets off the ground. I told myself I wouldn't be that new guy that immediately starts shopping his work around but this has really captured my imagination. Either way, this is a cool-ass thread!!

I just wanted to drop in and say that this is actually super inspiring and enlightening; I was even motivated to give game maker another try til I realised that their Mac support is pretty lacking (I switched to Mac a couple months ago). I'll be sure to keep up with your videos though; keep it real!

Been a long-ass time since I joined a forum but this community is too rad for me to sit out any longer. Pretty pleased this username wasn't taken, actually. Hi!
