Day One (11/19/2016): I quickly made up some assets to get a prototype game level up and running. This will be used to get the controllers and logic ready. Then I will start figuring out how to best lay out the level and how to work the timing of different elements. So, please ignore my ugly art. It will get better! I was able to get basic controls for the cool blob down and some really basic controls for the robots and the humans they are pushing around. I have not yet designed how cool blob can jump UP into a hole above. I got started and the results were hilarious. I will work on that tomorrow, hopefully with inspiration I receive in my dreams or from beer. Here is a rough gif showing the mechanics as they stand: You can tell that there is no fun timing of the bots yet. I just have them all starting at the start and going for it. This won't work in the real game. You can see cool blob filling a hole to let the human/bot pass over, and see the other bots run off as their human gets stuck in a hole (and will inexplicably die). Man, that background color is awful.

That's cool already!

This sounds pretty interesting. Interested to see it take shape and give it a try.

In-game meats are the best. I will definitely appreciate this.

I like the concept! Looking forward to it!

Sounds like a good idea! Glad to have you jamming with us.

Oh, I wasn't tracking the colors right in your example, just the positions. That could be a hard mode or something. Ha! Either way, it sounds really fun!

Whoa. So, even friendly fire can cancel a point?? This sounds cool. Also, shitty mockups are great.

Here is another good site with free sound effects. Apparently brought to you by Zac King of Vine fame? http://sweetsoundeffects.com/ Gotta love that URL if nothing else...

I am also doing Cool Blob Future, and it is 100% different! This will be interesting to see the two different games.

I love things like this. Looking forward to it! -
Living in a place where brunch is so popular that it is being blamed for societal problems sounds amazing. Glad you're joining us for the jam! Your game sounds like a lot of fun!

For anyone trying out Unity for the first time, I have a draft project up on git that you should feel free to download and consider using as a starting point for your game. It contains some basic stuff that takes up time and you often won't think of until you are down to the wire and would rather be adding some other finishing touches (or hidden jokes). Features: Basic game state machine to help you lock down when certain actions can occur without millions of confusing if-thens. Basic title screen that you can adjust to meet your needs. Basic GUI for title screen and in-game menus. Absolutely nothing aesthetically pleasing is provided so that you can be motivated to make it look good yourself! A simple sample game object to show how you might use the state machine provided. A pauser. Press "p" to pause if you keep it as-is. Pull up in-game menu with the escape key. All action will stop in the game while the menu is active. Please download the project and feel free to send me suggestions/changes, or make your own branch through git if you want to work that way. This can be improved to be a simple framework for anyone to use and save a few headaches when you just want to jam! Check it out here!

Huh. I am also on PS4 and the speech is always on top of each other and I can't tell what a lot of people are saying. It's too bad, because I really drink up this world... take for instance that it took me 8 hours to get to mission 3.
-
Finally into mission 3 and I agree with everyone that said earlier that the sound design is often bad. Sounds like someone is walking right next to me and they are across the street. People talk at the same volume even though they are far, far apart, etc. All of that makes it impossible to not rely on the icons and "HUH?" when people just start to notice you. Oh well, I am used to it, so I can get over it. Civilian freakouts are a bit inconsistent, although I was impressed by one lady. She saw me carrying a body across awnings, freaked out and ran away. All other civilians were fine with me being around. About 20 minutes later, she returned and stumbled upon me... freaked out immediately! So, I enjoyed that.

Thanks! I found it within 2 minutes of trying again with your reassurance. I figured it would be a clue referring to that thing, I just never loot-glinted the right thing with the final piece!

Sounds like a robot duel is in order.

So, I'm now 5 hours in and still on mission 2. I have been obsessively hunting for a combination to the safe in the overseer's office... I am going to move on when I play next, but if you happen to know if the safe combo is in the same building... you can slyly let me know. I gotta get all the runes! Also, I like that one of the bone charms increases the chances of albino rats in rat swarms. You bet I've got that baby equipped! Need more albino rats!!

Got a kick out of a letter discussing a lascivious woman who rolls her pant legs up a bit high.

I didn't know you could pick a No Powers option with Emily! That is super sick! I was pretty excited to see the douchey outsider again. I really dig that whole character and part of the LORE. Although the new voice actor is kind of meh to me.

Winter Jam Along with dibs and Friends 2: The Unseeing Game Dev Choir, Conducted by dibs
Travis replied to dibs's topic in Wizard Jam 4 Archive
This is so secret, I didn't know what you were talking about! Now I see it in the first post! (I am posting this so that others like me will refer back to said first post.) -
I am still on the first chapter, but loving it! I have to play after impressionable minds are asleep, so I didn't have a bunch of time. I learned to turn those off last time and it added so much. I look everywhere and read everything with no pressure to move quickly. I really love this world, and am happy to dillydally*. *This is a word Corvo definitely would use. Trying to set a mood here.
