Episode 448: Valkyria Chronicles 4
jennegatron replied to Rob Zacny's topic in Three Moves Ahead Episodes
i am very into the all caps Social Justice Warrior proper noun capitalization here. Clearly someone who is not familiar with the forums if our SJW agenda is of great concern. -
To argue in favor of the Slack, I feel like i've made more friends and gotten to know more people through the slack than I did through the forums. I love the forums here & I love reading what everyone posts every day. We've done a pretty good job of splitting the slack out so that conversations are divided into categories in our creation of channels, to avoid the whiplash of topic change, and you can focus on what's interesting/important to you and not have to read channels that don't apply. It's a really nice place that is strictly a fan community. I like that it's a little more divorced from the creators of idle thumbs as you can speak openly without worrying about hurting one of the Thumbs' feelings about things that don't work for you, etc. The forums are great, and I continue to read regularly with occasional posts, but when i need a hit of a community that i can talk to and get feedback from or hear someone's opinions on something, the slack is where i go. The forums are great for mid to long form response and thoughts and the slack is great for exchanges that help you develop those thoughts in the first place. I think they both have a place. Slack was the replacement for IRC because IRC was unapproachable for many people (including me.) There are people who are active posters over in the slack that were only ever really lurkers here, and i find a lot of value in the lowered barrier of entry of the slack.

A fairly recent addition to Netflix, is To All The Boys I've Loved Before. It follows a high school student, Lara Jean, who writes love letters to the boys she gets crushes on and then puts them in her closet. She uses them as an outlet for her feelings but never intends on them being sent. Through wacky circumstances they get mailed out and one recipient, Peter, a former crush from middle school, approaches her to ask her to help him. He wants to get his ex-girlfriend back and thinks making her jealous by pretending to date Lara Jean is the way to make that happen. Lara Jean agrees on his promise that he won't tell people about the letter. I am a huge sucker for teen movies. My favorite movie of all time is Say Anything. Dazed & Confused + Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my first warm day of spring double feature. Edge of Seventeen, which I gushed about on these forums, is one of my favorite movies of the past 5 years. The more contrived the concept, the more earnestly executed the better. ...Boys I've Loved Before is an extremely sweet movie and plays out about how you expect, but is so enjoyable in the process. Lara Jean goes from a passive girl, lonely and oblivious to an active participant in her life. It's an adorable love story with characters that I enjoyed spending time with. I love a movie about the interior life of a teen girl. It's hard being a young person figuring out what to do with the feelings you have. If you're looking for something light to watch for a date night or just a palate cleanser for the hell dimension we live in, I can't recommend it enough. It did acutely remind me that I am closer to 30 than to 16, so prepare yourself for that.

Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I use python extensively for work, and I think the best advice I could give is to find a book or blog or program that is specifically interested in data structures. I think understanding sets, lists, dictionaries, & strings is the key to understanding your tool set and how to solve the problems you're trying to solve. Getting comfortable with these concepts as mathematical and computer science objects will go a long way to having a core understanding of what the language is good at and good for.

My shit is currently terrace house: Opening new doors on Netflix. It's a Japanese reality show where 3 men and 3 women live in a house together. Think the real world but instead of horrible monsters they're just real people who fall in love and talk about their feelings and build igloos in the backyard. A+ could not recommend more.

you can definitely directly post your cards to the marketplace still. they're rarely worth more than $.03 - $.05. It is a pain though, you need to post them for sale, pick a price and then approve the posting via their terrible phone app.

I played LKiaB before she got rid of the President ending. The President was honestly my favorite character interaction (with the vice president in second place.) He ticked all my favorite character trope boxes of a stern rule following character. He also, I felt, played as a great foil to the Beauty as what an unhealthy dom/sub relationship looks like. There's no care given to the Beast, and instead she is used only for his enjoyment. I am sad that this story got taken out because I felt like it was a great wrinkle in the story, but I also understand how a straight man in this lesbian story was a rough edge that was desired to be sanded off. That doesn't make me less disappointed by its removal though.

My husband and I have been picking away at Yakuza 0 for over a year now and we finally finished it! This is legitimately one of most fun games I've ever played. It is really funny and silly while also being a little brooding and a lot dramatic. i give it 10 out of 10 Nugget the Chickens End of game and post credit stinger

I really enjoyed Game Night because it surprised me as a movie. I also like that the whole thing is a clear reimagining of I especially love the performance by the guy who played Landry on Friday Night Lights

Robert Ashley is one of my longest standing internet crushes. His band I Come to Shanghai is also excellent.

I'm fascinated by this being the first post entry for new forum members. Please current and future new thumb fans, feel free to give your mouse rec's but also jump into the other threads too! -
I actually highly recommend The Polygon Show which is hosted by Simone DeRochefort, Allegra Frank, Ashley Oh & Chelsea Stark. They are very charming and fun and nice. It's currently the only video game podcast I listen to since Besties went annual.

I will never stop talking about OJ: Made in America being one of the greatest pieces of filmmaking I've ever witnessed. What an insightful series of stories about race, celebrity, wealth, news for entertainment, violence against women, and citizen-police relationships in the united states. I was a tiny child when the OJ trial happened so I didn't really understand anything that was happening, but after watching OJ:MiA, I constantly think about the straight line you can draw from Eula Love to Rodney King & Latasha Harlins to Trayvon Martin, BLM, Eric Garner & Eric Holzclaw, etc. It seems obvious in retrospect, but OJ: Made in America made me think about how for much of my life (the 90's, 00's and the first part of the 10's) race was a conversation that was 'over.' Except OJ:MiA made it so clear to me that the conversation didn't go away we just ignored it until there was another set of events that hit critical mass making us talk about it again.

My favorite thing about this game is the Dunkey video where he describes it as 'gaming's first third person strangler slash ladder-er'

In the Valley of Gods - Indie-film Ana Jones (Campo Santo's New Valve Game) is Canceled Forever
jennegatron replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
That's my impression as well. The employees of Campo Santo have become Valve employees, and Campo Santo as a company still exists and owns Firewatch, and is owned by Sean & Jake. They acquired the employment contracts of the team without acquiring the business itself.- 124 replies

I don't think you need to have seen either of those movies follow Infinity war. Basically the only things of consequence are that Thor found the Hulk & lost an eye in Ragnarok. Black Panther is the leader of Wakanda, a secret African nation that has recently opened itself up to the outside world. If you liked Civil War, go see Infinity War imo
