Dropsy is the world's first Point and Click Hugventure
jennegatron replied to ewokskick's topic in Video Gaming
I can't stop thinking about this game and all the hugs I gave and (spoiler for how it made me feel) Story Spoiler stuff. Please don't read this until you've played until you are sure that you aren't going back for more, as this is about more of the environmental and background story telling: -

I played this last night & tonight and I loved it! highly recommend. -
^That's a really good article, and I think it extends to not just poort students, but middle class students that went to poor high schools (aka me at school like mine was.) Adjusting to college after going to a bad high school I feel like I did not take advantage of all the opportunities my wealthy liberal arts school had to offer, and maybe I wouldn't have spent my first year our of college unemployed if I had done that differently.

Idle Thumbs 227: Quiet The Clown

omg the patch on his shoulder is so good. -
When I'm feeling wistful and missing my old roommate I drink Blackberry Manischewitz wine.
-
I will get all the way down on a Festbier. Ewokskick & I got stuck in Munich on a layover last year the day after Oktoberfest started and I drank a whole liter of beer and it was very fun, but I would not like to go again as there were far too many men who felt entitled to touch me.

man oh man, when the latkes come out.... I miss having a Jewish roommate : ( (not just for the food. she's also just a delightful person.)

It was this: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31442/117587/ I'm surprised BA liked it as much as they seem to.

also I like the grapefruit shandy, I just can't recommend it as it's juice and not beer.
-
@ewokskick is the one who made me do a sake bomb with him.
-
I got a grapefruit shandy that i cannot recommend because it does not taste like beer, it tastes like juice, and I did a sake bomb and now i'm on twitter talking about how I drink milk with literally every meal because I was raised by 2 lovely Midwesterners that made me drink milk with meals, and went to a college with a milk dispenser that it never occurred to me that other people don't just drink 2% milk at least once a day.

He's a very big cat, both in stature and is somewhat overweight. I don't know if the dosage I gave him wasn't strong enough or he was that distressed. Even very short car rides (like the one from our old apartment to our new place, a 25 minute drive) so he was in the carrier for a grand total of 30 minutes, and got so distressed that he cried the whole time and peed in the carrier, which is in part of why I don't want to make him ride in the car twice over a weekend.
-
I gave him some sedative when we flew him from Illinois to California, and I'm not totally sure how well it worked as he still cried most of the time, similar to how he is when he's in the car. We're leaving him home alone for a night this weekend, so we'll see how one night goes, and see if he might be okay for 3 nights.

He's not any more destructive when left alone than when we're around. I feed him on a schedule, but only so I don't forget to feed him and so I can make sure that he's eating (which hasn't been a problem. He doesn't just decide to stop eating dry food.) He also doesn't gorge himself on dry food or anything if we leave food out for him. Often times there will be food left in his bowl when I feed him the next time around, and he seems good about only eating as much as he needs. I guess he would really only be alone for Saturday & Sunday, as I leave on Friday morning and get home Monday evening. I think kenneling him may make me more anxious and be more traumatizing to him than being left alone for what mostly amounts to ~72 hours. I'll weigh my options. Thanks for the idea Bjorn!

My dear sweet kitty is going to have to be kenneled when I travel later this month and I'm feeling a great deal of guilt and anxiety about it, as I know he'll hate every part of it, he'll hate riding in the car, he'll hate being there, and he'll be very upset with me. We also land too late in the evening to pick him up that night, and I'll only be able to pick him up the following morning. (we don't know anyone in town who would be able to stay with him for 4 days. : ( )

I really liked that Medium piece. It's very hard to read, but it pokes fun at Patton Oswalt & Jerry Seinfeld which I am very much in favor of.

My favorite polygon videos are: Hearthstonerz with phil "#1 beta cuck" kollar & griffin "420blazeit" McElroy Anytime Justin & Griffin McElroy play a game together, specifically Catlateral Damage and the Monster Factory Series Nick Robinson with either of the McElroys or Phil Kollar, highlights include a multipart sonic dreams collection series.

Things I like that aren't beers: Dirty Shirley Temples Cheap White Zinfandels OJ & Gin Screwdrivers Cheap champagne I really like sweet drinks, but I drink in moderation and am not prone to hangovers so YMMV on my sugar drinks. edit: I also really like ciders and try a ton of different varieties.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
jennegatron replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I found Act 2 to be much a less satisfying experience than Act 1. I did not have the problems with the story in 2 that a lot of people had but I hated most of the puzzle design. Act 1's puzzles were so clean and avoided so much adventure game logic that it really disappointed me to play act 2. I never felt like a genius for solving a puzzle only annoyed with the convoluted solutions. -

For support I also really like Malfurion as pretty straightforward. -

If you think it's hard to find anything but IPAs, don't bother coming to California. Like every brewery has three different IPAs of some kind, like they'll have a Session IPA, a plain IPA and a double IPA or some nonsense, and I'm lucky if I can find a wheat or a white or a sour or something that isn't $12 for a 6 pack that I haven't had before. I like trying new beers & ciders! (https://untappd.com/user/jennegatron here's how I track what I have and haven't tried before.)

Porters & stouts are bitter like coffee or unsweeted cocoa is bitter. I don't like pretty much any bitter flavors including those, as well as the hop flavors in a IPA. (If we look at IBUs which really only measures hoppiness, not overall bitterness Dogfish Head's 90 minute IPA has an IBU count of 90, a porter like Sierra Nevada's has a 32, a local Dry Hopped Lager (Sudwerk) has a 28, and Weihenstephaner's Hefe Weissbier , the only beer on this list I do like, has a 20.)
