I'm sure they can, but it still seems unnecessary. Just my opinion. I, on the other hand, definitely wouldn't be able to handle it, and that's why it makes me cringe.

But they weren't right in each other's faces. Seeing someone jump up and cheer just made me cringe for the other team.

Haha! My company blocked all gaming related websites recently, so I'll have to sit at my desk staring at my phone. "Yea, really important business here, trust me." Just did that for the XMG Captain's Draft tourney. My data plan is not happy. I would hate to have to play in that setup. Seeing any sort of celebration would just infuriate me, especially with so much riding on those games.

I'm at 34/150. Tomorrow is going to be a very unproductive workday.

Makes me wish I lived on the west coast. I'd love to go.

Whoa, what are the chances?! My bf and I played a game over the weekend and a guy we recently started playing with was on the opposing team. With so many unique players, I wonder how often this actually happens. Congrats! That's so awesome. I have around 800hrs in the game and my highest kill count is 28 I think, so you should definitely be proud. Now that you've experienced the high of dominating in this game, good luck getting out. Dota is like a drug; it has high highs and low lows, and you're always looking for that next high. Enjoy. ;p

I'd say that's good advice. I'm usually in a party with two or three friends, so I haven't tried to organize one yet. I'll be playing solo a bit this weekend, which I hate, so I'll probably be looking for DotaToda friends.

I've been playing New Leaf (actually haven't picked it up in about a month), and I can easily spend an hour just on the island. If there's an item I want that costs 48 medals, that means I need to go on 4-6 tours and they range from 5-10 minutes each. Then I run around searching for the expensive bugs and fish (mainly bugs) to maximize my island earnings for the day. It can be a time sink for sure. But back to the main poster's question... I usually just keep playing the game until I get bored with it. :/

Thoughts from this week’s episode... 1. I love Brad's rating system idea. I very rarely remember to commend people at the end of a match, even after the flood of “commend me” messages, which I hate! No, I will not commend you just because you asked for it. And even if I was going to commend you, I’m probably not going to now because it irritates me THAT badly. But anyway... I think it would be great if they added 5 stars next to your name on the match details screen at the end of a match, then people could fill in how many stars they thought you deserved (similar to the Rating column in your iTunes library). I think that would get a lot more use than the current commendation system. How they would use it to make the game better, I don’t know. 2. The guys mentioned Centaur being good early and mid game, but then falling off late game. I have to disagree with that. I’ve been playing Centaur a lot recently and I feel good throughout the entire game. The early game is by far the most fun, but it’s probably because we do a Tusk/Centaur combo. Super annoying for squishy enemies, super fun for us. Snowball, stomp, double edge, bye bye. Maybe it’s the early kill advantage that keeps me going into the late game. ?? I’ll have to try some solo Centaur and see if there maybe is a big difference. I just feel so beefy by the end of the game that even when they do target me, they have a hell of a time taking me down.

Hi all! I was searching for a Dota podcast recently and came across Dota Today. That led me to the Idle Thumbs podcast, which led me here. I always played games growing up (Super Mario, Sonic, DK Country, etc.), but I didn't really become a *gamer* until a couple years ago. That was when my ex-boyfriend introduced me to the world of RPGs, and I fell in love. I played through several Final Fantasy games (including FF Tactics - love!), Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, A Link to the Past, and so many others. I had decades of gaming to catch up on! Things didn't work out with the ex, but my newly acquired gaming knowledge is what sparked my current relationship. Funny how things work out. My current boyfriend has introduced me to another side of gaming - PC gaming (indie games as well). And together we found a particular game that we just can't stop playing. That game is Dota 2. With over 700hrs in just the past 7 months, I think it's safe to say I'm a full on addict. It's kind of disgusting, but also not. It's just SO good. So, there it is, my gaming history in a nutshell. And yes, I was feeling a bit chatty as I typed this.
