I'm kinda at a loss to what they might be talking about. Bradford's money is all salary, true, but in the last year of a deal the only real difference if the money is in salary/bonus or a signing bonus is if you want to cut or trade the player (and I doubt that). Foles was also in the last year of his deal, so it's not like they opened up more cap space in 2016 by doing that. Since Bradford is all salary, it means that he's actually owed almost $13m in cash from the Eagles. Combine that with the $9m they're going to pay out to Murray this year ($1m salary, $3m roster bonus, $5m signing bonus) and it's already significantly more in cash than they would have paid to Foles (~$1.5m) and McCoy ($10.25m), although a potential McCoy extension could have gotten them to the same costly range. The only real money dump move in the pack was McCoy for Alonso. Alonso's in the last year of his deal, but he's an RFA at the end of the year, and that combined with having missed all of last season with an ACL tear will probably depress the market for him unless he's a world-beater this year. McCoy was a money dump, but his cap hit for Murray in 2016 and 2017 will be higher than McCoy was under either his old deal or his new deal, and under McCoy's new deal, his 2015 cap hit matches Murray. The big advantage in the Murray contract over McCoy is that the small-ish signing bonus and guaranteed money being in the form of his 2016 salary minimizes dead money on the back end, meaning that he can be cut to save $4m in 2017 or to save $7m in 2018.

Are you thinking that the cap hits for those 3 are less than the hit from McCoy? Because Bradford's cap hit for 2013 alone ($12,985,000) is bigger than what McCoy's hit was going to be ($11,950,000). Basically, losing Foles and McCoy and gaining Alonso and Bradford amounts to the Eagles freeing around 700k in cap room. EDIT: Sorry, miscalculated. McCoy had $3.4m in pro-rated signing bonuses as yet unpaid that accelerated onto the cap when traded. So not 700k up, but 2.7m down. EDIT 2: For precision, really only 1.7m accelerates onto the cap. The other 1.7m was part of the 11.95m but remains on the Eagles' cap despite the trade.

Yeah, the second escape was a little less than intuitive. It was mostly fine, except for Even considering that, it's still a magnificent game.
  4. Hotline Miami

I ended up buying HM2 on PC because I actually prefer the mouse controls. Which is weird, because I actually prefer a controller for all FPSes. Sticks are a little better for melee, but mouse is better for guns I've found.
  5. I'll probably drop in for the first part, unless something changes. I would like to roll my own character here instead of using a premade, although I will probably need someone to tell me to stop if I'm making a really stupid decision.
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

I've heard a bit from drummers talking about the film and the ways in which Neyman's progress and technique are all just wrong, but it doesn't complicate the narrative here so much as reinforce it. It is doing the Sports Movie thing of just "pushing past your limit", but the whole thing is about questioning if trying to do that is worthwhile. It's not about the actual technical fundamentals of drumming, because the message has to be more general, but it's why
  7. That's what I was a little afraid of. I've got tickets to a show on the 27th. I might be able to hop on for 45 minutes or so, but I'll have to get out of there to make the 11:30 CST show.
  8. That should be fine. Are we thinking Saturdays instead of Fridays regularly?
  9. Ori and the Blind Forest

Yeah, the difficulty level on this game is no joke. I just got the dash move and finished the first big objective, and holy shit this game isn't playing around. There's also some things about the mechanics of that dash move that feel kinda counterintuitive, and so I'm having to teach myself how to use it appropriately.
  10. That timing's fine for me. A little late, but not as bad as the east coasters. When should we start?
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, the Final Cut is the one to watch. The "Director's Cut" is actually the work of another editor who was working from notes provided by Ridley Scott, who was too busy to actually oversee it. The Final Cut is the one where Scott had full control.
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

I just finished watching The Guest. That seems like a very appropriate thing to have watched after spending a bunch of time this week playing Hotline Miami 2. It's pretty cheesy, but, man, I really enjoyed that film. I mean, seriously, how can you not love a movie that casts Lance Reddick as
  13. So glad it is. That podcast gave me the push to actually get into F1, and it was gonna be a bummer to not have it this year.
  14. Intoxicated:

I keep cheap whiskey at all times (Evan Williams, $22 for a 1.75L bottle), as well as one bottle of scotch, and I tend to rotate those to try different types. The last 3 I've had have been Glendronach 10, Glenfiddich 12, and Cardhu 12. The Glendronach was more on the harsh and oaky end, the Cardhu comes on strong but goes out smooth, and the Glenfiddich was pretty smooth all around. I used a splash of water with the Glendronach, but the other two are just perfect straight. I don't mind also keeping some higher-end whiskey as well, but the scotch and cheap whiskey are the stuff where, when I run out, I make a point to go replace them.

The PA guys also had a really shitty response to GG, back around October where the thing reached enough of a critical mass to force the big publications to actually say something, even if it was just "harassment is bad". It starts by denouncing death and rape threats, and then turns into this: And, yeah, that dickwolves thing. The last time I saw it even mentioned basically confirmed they didn't learn a goddamn thing from that incident.
  16. Helldivers

I'm in on this as well. PSN name is thefncrow.

Pick Up Artist. Basically, people who think the key to getting laid is to follow this intricate system of rules, essentially treating basic social interaction as a puzzle to be solved. If you've heard of "negging", that's one rather well known PUA technique. EDIT: HAHAHA, phone autocorrected "negging" to "begging".

  19. Life

I spent several years as a (misclassified) 1099 contractor, which was always a lot of fun. I never found it really worth it to actually file estimated taxes, so tax time every year was "that time I get to write a $9000 check to the US government". This year was the first year I didn't have that contractor job on my taxes. I still owed a little money, but this time it was $50 and not $9000.
  20. Similarly, I've never actually played D&D before, but after listening to The Adventure Zone, watching some of GB (although I still haven't watched GB episode 2 yet), and listening to some Nerd Poker before, I've got this itch that's made me actually want to, so if a group ends up forming and you don't mind a newcomer, I'd love to play.
  21. Other podcasts

I'm not actually having any problem with it. MBMBAM is the McElroy brothers' comedy advice podcast, which I'm only associated with in that I listen to it. I'm just saying that I remember when I first started listening and eventually decided to go grab the back catalog, I had to go find the original posts on Libsyn, because the weird 100 episode limit meant that they were no longer on the RSS and so I had to get them manually instead of just having my podcatcher grab them.
  22. Other podcasts

I think the big backlog he's talking about something much bigger than a few episodes. Like, I've never used the service, but I remember from MBMBAM being on Libsyn that their RSS feed would only show the last 100 episodes. So when they were at episode 150, the RSS only included 51-150, and you had to go scrounge up the original posts for episodes 1-50.

The best thing about recent Drew is that he'd scowl at you for calling that a heel turn. I can't at all remember what video it was, but there's something similar I remember from one of the many times Tetris Battle Gaiden has showed up on a livestream. I don't remember the exact circumstances, but something about the stress of TBG got to Patrick and he said to Will Smith something like "Not that easy, is it motherfucker?" I'm thinking it was Brad kicking everyone's ass, Will Smith saying he could do better, and then he was getting stomped too. It's kinda driving me nuts that I can't remember what that's from, and google seems to be of no help.

Hey, what do you know, a tweet from today that appears to be a pretty good window on Brandon Morse's attitude towards trans people. https://twitter.com/TheBrandonMorse/status/569243443844780033
  25. An email I sent to Giantbomb

Yeah, he did, but he had this smile on his face while he was asking that made me think he was needling Dan. Like, he knew it wasn't John Cena, but thought it'd be way funnier if he just kept insisting it was.
