Idle Thumbs 283: Fantastical Tactical Spectacular

Oh, it for sure sounds like a bug, I'm not suggesting the Hitman devs deliberately decided to send wave after wave of bellhops at the minibar. -

Re: The "There's a problem with the toilet video." That someone deliberately went and knocked out all the people in the hotel and dragged them to the bathroom is pretty funny, but to me the idea that it was the result of a systemic thing that got out of control is even better. There are some hoses that Hitman shouldn't turn on. -
Not-quite-in-the-same-vein-as-Terminator: I think if you could just laser out the part of my brain that knows anything about Bioshock (except that I should play it) then I'd be happy. We all knew from trailers and preview coverage that it was set in an underwater city but how sweet would that reveal have been if you didn't? I know descending to Rapture was less "twist" and more "basic premise" but oh man, if I'd managed to avoid knowing that it would have been incredible.

Idle Thumbs 272: Sorrow and Horror

I don't remember my ICQ number but I weirdly remember my Half Life 1 CD key. -
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=695698187 I feel like this might be an awful way to blend in.

That's a guy who's well and truly ready for the next update.

She sits like this all the time, I don't get it.

I have two-factor authentication turned on and Slack isn't sending me the SMS message with my code when I try to log in to the Thumbs channel. I didn't write down any backup codes (like a dummy,) because hey, I figured the messages would get through with my code. Can someone turn off my 2FA? It says the team owner is able to do it. Idle Weekend February 21, 2016: The Right Way
Jordan A replied to Chris's topic in Idle Weekend Episodes
That's not wrong though, I don't think. Playing competitively or in teams is an option but it's a cooperative game. -
It's possible that if the camp is being used outside of summer and Delilah's only firewatching during the summer she might not necessarily be aware, I guess. Also there was something in Ned's notes about Delilah rarely leaving her tower.

Oh, that research stuff - I got the impression it was being used by the Parks Department or whatever to track bears or take soil samples, and then while they were away Ned was using it to eavesdrop on Henry and Delilah. In Ned's notes there's something to the effect of "the real scientists come back to work in August, leave no trace."

Same. I wanted Henry to see his friend, there wasn't necessarily anything romantic in the invitation, I don't think. What a Full Throttle ending, though! "I guess I'll see you." "Yeah, maybe."

This game has some of the most aggressively coloured lighting I've seen since like, Quake 2.

Are you the same guy that saw Chris when he was trying to get his new computer going? "Hi Chris, I'm a huge fan." "Don't even talk to me about fans right now."

Super excited for this. Loving this new trend of games about teenagers.

I played a couple hours of this last night and today. I don't think it'll set the world of digital board games on fire but it's pretty neat. Initially it feels like a lot of running around and playing whack-a-mole against the events but eventually you get a sense of what's urgent and what you can ignore or chip away at in favour of using your dice on other things. Unlocking new crew members is largely done by attrition, I guess, so you'll eventually unlock alternate crew even if you never have much success. It is heavily luck based - you might get unlucky and it's really hard, you might also get unlucky and have it be really easy. It's only if you're lucky and hit a middling level of difficulty where it becomes fun. I agree with Ninety-Three about the starting dice, though - maybe an option where you can allocate how many dice each crew member starts with (from a limited pool) would be helpful? There's a menu option for "Missions (coming soon)" so maybe that'll add something interesting. Crew upgrades would be nice. (Also your crew have weird clay-faces, which I don't love.)

When I was about 10 or 11 I used to play Action Quake 2 by myself. I'd play the parts of both the action hero and the bad guys. Like, I'd do a cool dive and shoot my guns, then I'd get up and walk to the other end of the room and be the bad guy and pretend to die, stuff like that. Kinda sad now that I'm seeing it written down.

Chris has good hair.

I don't own a printer, so I figured I'd just print this at work in preparation for release. Then I saw the manual is at www.bombmanual.com and I was like, yeah, you know what, I'm going to just download this over 4G and upload it to my Google Drive and print it from there instead.

I think CTRL was shoot, space was open door and ALT was your strafe modifier? And that was it.

I use that one, it's a good one for Fultoning. Kidnap that fool.

One copy in a million, Delilah makes Henry's hands huge and his head tiny. -

Rocket League's aesthetic is also really stripped down, I think. Like, yes, you're rocket cars, but I feel like they play it straight in a way that feels refreshing. They could have gone the Monday Night Combat route and had all kinds of horns and announcers and energy drink billboards, but they didn't. It's really nice. I know there's all kinds of wacky stuff in the customization but by default it's just sort of clean and no-nonsense. -
