Oh, damn. It was a VFX showreel of Episode 7. There's a good mix of practical and CG effects!

I've heard that the first book at least is like that but the rest aren't as bad. I also heard the TV series starts with a later book than the first one.

The Shannara Chronicles just premiered. The first episode is officially online for free (in the U.S. I believe): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPrHybyCRzw It's cliché and cheesy in a lot of ways and it's not exactly deep. But it's fun, and as a fan of the Fantasy genre I think it's great that it's airing. Slade Wilson is my favourite character so far. (It's based on the book series by Terry Brooks, which I haven't read.)

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
slime replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
DS9 is awesome! And it has some great characters, including a couple people from the TNG crew. Like most of the Star Trek series the first couple seasons are pretty rough in a lot of ways though. The status of Sisko's hair on his face and head roughly tracks the show's progress in that regard. -
I just saw it for the second time. I wouldn't be surprised if Rey is Luke's daughter - but I also wouldn't be surprised if she's not family to any of them. I want Finn and Poe to get together.
-
That's addressed in the second season of Star Wars Rebels actually (which is set in between the prequels and the original series). The clones were adults during the Clone Wars, so I doubt there would be any left by the time of the events of The Force Awakens.
-
That's a fair point, I guess it's ambiguous until the next movies come out.
-
I think I remember Finn saying he was taken from his birth-parents and raised as a stormtrooper. Maybe I'm mistaken though.
-
That's awesome! I can't speak for Lansbury's software in particular of course, but it tends to be the case that if poor assumptions are made in a low-level part of a software as it's developed, it will spread to every part and it'll be really hard to fix those assumptions later without tearing everything down.

Spacebase was not a kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

Greg Baldwin (who was Mako Iwamatsu's student) voiced Aku in the Samurai Jack video game. He also voiced Iroh in A:TLA season 3, after Mako passed away. It'll probably be him.

Marvel Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc.)
slime replied to SecretAsianMan's topic in Movies & Television
Jessica Jones is my favourite TV show of this year, I think. Here's a pretty good article that highlights some of why I like it (minor spoilers): http://www.salon.com/2015/11/22/jessica_jones_marvels_newest_show_makes_surviving_trauma_a_superpower/ - I don't really agree with their opinion about the subplot they talk about though. -

On that topic, here's a blog post from Ursula Vernon, one of the people who got pushed out of the list of nominees because of the Puppy slates (numbers were released after the awards went out which show where various votes went): http://ursulav.livejournal.com/1634673.html George R. R. Martin hosted a Hugo losers party after the main awards, and gave out several awesome trophies (dubbed 'Alfies') to people including Ursula. He's written some more excellent blog posts on the Hugos, the post-event losers party, and the Alfies: Part 1: 'Hugo Aftermath' http://grrm.livejournal.com/439207.html Part 2: 'The Hugo Losers Party' http://grrm.livejournal.com/439464.html Part 3: 'What's it All About, Alfie?' http://grrm.livejournal.com/439564.html Part 4: 'The Alfies' http://grrm.livejournal.com/439932.html
