Not sure what the immediate cause was for that tweeteria. Was it the Tim Schafer sockpuppet thing? Because that would be hi-larious. "Mr. Schafer, you're being sued for making fun of gamergate and especially the #notyourshield hashtag, which was racist". The SJW narrative crap is really getting to me. Many gaters are desperate to draw the controversy to a political level, so they can even understand it, and "the SJW" is the result. demonized enemy concept that, just as much as "the Jew", simply doesn't exist. Slap a label on your enemies, then execute them for the label. Any one of those idiots going "the SJW this, the SJW that" (singular form denoting the entire fictitious group) really is without a brain.

It eventually arrives at a site that details a "feminist programming language". Unreal is definitely in there. I don't have any bias in that respect. But it's a coder/programmer, obviously, which should also narrow it down, and his/her native language possibly isn't English. So there is that. Just as gamergate consists of a multitude of ideological currents (e.g. submissive consumer, conspiracy theorist, MRA, misogynist, US centric Republican, opportunist etc.), opposing gamergate doesn't exactly put you in a box or entails mindlessly supporting some "anti gamergate" figureheads in everything they say or do. Tim Schafer's reaction to the controversy was 100% awesome, and he has my deepest respect for going in the trenches, but I still think Double Fine is burning through far too much money. I've never taken to Brianna Wu; I'm pretty sure Joss Whedon didn't quite understand the issues; I wish Anita Sarkeesian was a slightly better presenter. Leigh Alexander is a wonderful, capable and extremely important voice in the controversy. Still she never apologized for tweeting that damn pirate site with the gog installers. The voice I most identify with is probably Katherine Cross. I'll keep a critical eye out for that "alliance". Not too sure about what the results will be, or whether there will even be any results besides either side crying hypocrisy.

As the Sarkeesian Effect Patreon income approaches feministfrequency's total 2014 expenditures, Owen and Aurini are breaking up instead of releasing their dumb fuck of a documentary. That made my day, wonderful. Of course, the truly moral thing for Owen to do wouldn't have been to just fire Aurini. Bain has always been on the imbecile consumer wing of gamergate. I guess the grateful consumer principle can apply to journalists too. Re. gamergate people being hilarious: Last week's Daryush Valizadeh blog entry asking for the legalisation of rape (safe link) has, in the meantime, lightly raised an eyebrow or two in the gater trenches. Last discussion I've seen, they're trying to reach a consensus that Roosh was trying to "basically call out the rape culture hysteria", but isn't doing a very good job at it. Whooo, look, it's "satire" again! Do these people ever read the stuff they support? Roosh has been riding the gamergate cult for months now, and I have trouble finding a less game-y and more rape-y face in that crowd. Yet, hey, it'll blow over. He's not really gamergate, y'know. It's still good that you bring it up, particularly here. We can't just support any voice that somehow seems to be opposed to gamergate. Gaters are running into that trap by the thousands, and I really don't want to step into it.

Bain's way of having an argument has all the telltale signs of immaturity. This guy is just a kid trying to defend his 'opinion' to the blood. When Sterling practically has him nailed to the wall in this discussion, it's just one step back for Bain before the unfounded attacks begin anew. Troll - argue - retreat and then self-righteously sum up the discussion in quite a fictional way. John Bain thinks he's living in a shame culture, in which angry white men are made responsible for all bad deeds imaginable and should protest whenever the idea of guilt surfaces. I say he has no idea how this kind of culture would really play out. Yes, that is exactly it, the central sentence that should make people scratch their heads. Every reaxxion article is essentially based on the idea that while gamergate supporters actually love diversity in their games, diversity really isn't that appropriate in most game genres, the target group of those games happens to see their games ruined by it, the Social Justice Warrior is making a stand for it in a perverted and exaggerated way — and is generally unfit to ask for diversity in games if he is male and white — the push for more diversity in games comes from voices outside of gaming fandom, the video game press is deeply corrupt in supporting and infusing us with this ideology and developers stop thinking for themselves and yield to their evil influence. Gamergate in a nutshell, for John Bain: "Diversity is OK, just not in our games".

Let's welcome the Escapist's total gamergatification for now. Let them establish their superior standards of journalistic integrity, I guess we'll have a lot of fun with that attempt.
