I have been considering UE4 for simple 3d gameplay and level design prototyping. Couple of questions: Is anyone using the UE4 Editor under Linux (Ubuntu)? Is C++ really as much of a pain in the ass as every says it is? I'm designing for low-power PCs and tablets, does UE4 support this "out of the box"? I create game prototypes under my studio, Binary Gambit http://bit.ly/binarygambit

As Clyde said, Portal is a great non-violent game. There are a lot of other Portalesque non-violent shooters out there as well: Proteus, The Stanley Parable and Antichamber. My suggestions would be Eufloria and Starseed Pilgrim If you want to find out about them, why not watch Lets Plays and deconstruct them. Once you have done this a few times and developed a formula it is easy to see what they have in common. I do this with a lot of games as I just don't have enough time to play all the greats anymore.

Nice idea, I dropped both my homes (Australia, Frankfurt). Do the Idle Thumbs crew release listener geographic data?

Hi Guys, newbie here. I run a one man studio called Binary Gambit, making game prototypes. I'm Australian but am currently touring the European continent, and right now find myself in Frankfurt, Germany. Starting out I was a one hat pony (Ideas Man) and spent a lot of energy trying to convince my programmer mates to get involved with my game ideas. Then I finally decided to teach myself all the skills needed to make games myself. Its been a few years now and things are starting to take off. The industry is an exciting and scary place to be, but I think I have found my niche. Most importantly I'm a long time fan of the Idle Thumbs crew.
