Little known fact: pirates wore flannel under their blazers.

Haha, I don't remember sending you an extended finger. I hope it belonged to Johnny Cash.

I made the Church of Tim. The CoT era is the first time I came in contact with you, TP2K1; you emailed to call me a "dyslexic gorilla" for mangling the names of some LEC games. I still remember this for some reason even though I summarily forget people I meet online. It has been almost ten years since then. Man, such cringe-worthy prose, that site.

And me! Probably at the end of it all what with the Z— last name.

Also, I find it really, really strange that I find myself here in the position of defending Apple—I consider iOS an anathema, an uncomputer, the most oppressive piece of modern technology, on par with FarmVille—but I also think that iTunes is not as revolting as you're making it out to be.

I am a little confused by the vehemence of this anger too. It really looks something like fanboyism.

Maybe you expect it to work like fubar2000 or something, which it doesn't. It is a weird beast. I only really have it installed on my Mac computers, and I just let it do its thing, grateful when it behaves.

We all know how Nachimir gets all the ladies : Also TP2K1, I find that alcohol helps lubricate the social interaction mechanisms rather effectively. Take a shot of something bracing, get a little reckless and try to have fun. Your concerns are not helping—every one of those relationships makes for invaluable experience, getting you closer to knowing what you are looking for. You gotta try stuff out, so you know that you like it.

I'm interested in your binary review ( / ). I wanna know if what annoyed RPS really takes away from the game enough to sour the experience.

Regardless. Moot. You're reading what Erkki said too literally.

If they were making some sort of unique piece of stop motion, sure—as it is, they were making a fucking video game into! There is no content to it! It is just excruciating for the fuck of it. It is engineered to appeal to the geek "culture", get the thumbs up on youtube, but has no content.

I hope to god they cheated through some clever plugin programming or something. If this is done the dumb, manual way—it is infuriating idiocy!
  13. You're gonna be up at 3am to do this? Tasmania looks like an overjoyed smiley face on that map.
  14. Oooh, announce it in advance and I'll try to make it.
  15. The current free-form mode is no SMP so saying that since 1.8 didn't get people out, 1.9 is also going to be a waste is a bit of a false comparison with a data set of 1. All that is fine and dandy for me to say since I am not hemorrhaging $60/month on this. So let's murder this world and invade some other nice server. Post leads for THUMB DIASPORA servers here! It would be nice if it were a smallish, friendly server with cool people. People who would, for example, be open to building with a plan, e.g. a network of dense cities as opposed to random shit in the countryside. They would also have to let us put up a Congrats Nick sign, seeing how that is a tradition of our tribe. … A THOUGHT ON THE FUTURE OF IDLEMC: It would be a good idea to build a widget that keeps a tally of the server's finances and plasters it in the welcome message. Something like WE NEED $X BEFORE DATE OR THE SERVER GETS IT or SERVER IS PAID FOR UNTIL DATE, <some sort of message about when it would be timely to start donating again so that we don't fall off the wagon>—so that we can at least break even and keep people informed about the financial standing of the server. The widget can be connected to a simple PayPal (or Stripe) store in which we can set up several support options as weekly/monthly memberships, or single-time donations where people using the server can chose a support level that works for their purse. Waddayasay, Doug? Would you be up for helping set this up—being the only person here with hands-on experience running an MC server? I would gladly program this donation widget at some point between now and then. It would be worth investing the time if we can get some pledges of support lined up for at least three months of runtime in advance. That sounds reasonable, no? Would people be up for it? This way there is no onus on the likes of Doug to keep paying for a server that no one cares about. When the money runs out, the server dies. We can release the widget to other people running MC servers elsewhere, start a small open source project, update it while we care to then hand it off when we no longer do.

I feel like Double Fine is hamstrung by old-school publishers who summarily undermine the viability of the PC platform. They probably rely on these relationships more than contemporary indies because they have a huge ass team that needs feeding. They are porting shit to the PC and the Mac, so they are at least listening. Very slowly, but they're listening. And I am trying not to be a horrible irrational fan here by demanding more and more often. Do we know if the porting was done in-house and on the engine itself? If so, I can't imagine it would be too difficult to publish all of their games on the pc and mac which is considering I have been itching to try the matryoshka game.
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

I kindof made peace with the movies being shit at some point and watched them just for the amazing acting craft that every single shot drips with. There is so much professionalism in that movie, it can distract you enough.

Yet the third one is probably the best movie of the whole bunch. I also liked the first part of the finale.

The Muzzy of my childhood was in English. The live action segments that the cartoon happened around featured two of the most ginger people I had ever seen.

  21. C'mon the server is dead, it will be cooler this way. I've been on a bunch and peeking at the map at random times when I felt like logging in and dropping some blocks, but hardly anyone has been on in a week or so. We need a common goal to get us all excited about building. How's this for a compromise: I'll set you up with a cache of diamond tools and all the blocks that you desire, the finest contraband that fell off the back of the admin-powers truck, and you can do your building with only the slightest of inconveniences of living in a SMP world? You can even build whatever it is you desire however you want to build it if you don't care for the density constraint—we can just build around your stuff.

Ya see, we kinda leveled up. Our concerns evolved—while you're still fighting the wussy blue jellies from the intro or whatever. ____________________________________ Fig. 1; Wow, these dudes are weird.

I know, it is really fucked up, but there is no way to really, persuasively convey to you that shit gets better. It does. All of your woes are typical and dealable-with and will be irrelevant with the slightest of hindsights. You just gotta trust us.
  24. Minecraft

On one hand, the world needs more randomly generated content... on the other, this indeed seems to go against the primary thrust of the game, which is mining and building things. The mod basically encourages you not to build anything in your own city, which defeats the purpose of the game in a major way. It is a neat idea tho. A little misguided. I wonder how this could be done well.
