  1. OMFG there is going to be a new "Mana" game!

Other way round, Secret of Mana is the sequel to Sword of Mana.. Sword of Mana (GBA) = Remake of 'Seiken Densetsu' (Game Boy) Secret of Mana (SNES) = Western name for 'Seiken Densetsu 2' Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES = Would have probably been called 'Secret of Mana 2' if it had ever been released in the West. There was also a SNES game called secret of Evermore that I think some people claimed was a sequel but was actually shit and had nothing to do with the Mana universe. Lets hope this new one turns out decent. Online wireless co-op multiplayer for the DS version would be welcome too
  2. Dave Chappelle: Gnome Warlock

Hey, my girlfriend is a gnome warlock! I think it's perfectly sensible as a combo, unlike Dwarf Rogues however which is something I just can't accept as being plausible to any stretch of the imagination
  3. Most Important Game Ever Made

Super Mario Bros. Everything that's good about gaming can be traced back to this landmark title.
  4. european gamer afraid of cooties?

Yep. I didn't know what the fuck a cootie was either until I read this thread.
  5. Crap... little help please? FF7 on ps2

No humour in FF7? What about Cloud having to dress as a woman to get into honeybee inn? Or the confrontation with.. erm the fat bloke in Wutai (just before he drops you through a trapdoor, can't remember the exact details, it's been over 7 years since i last finished it). I'm sure some of the humour was lost in the dodgy translation, but even with that I'm surprised to hear anybody finding a lack of comedy. Play it until you get out of Midgar and reach Nibelheim, get through the lengthy cutscene about Sephiroth and if the plot hasn't grabbed you then give up and kill yourself.
  6. I downloaded it (even though I have every Dizzy Amstrad CPC ROM), worth it just to have a treasure island dizzy icon on my desktop Hopefully if enough people download it they'll finally consider making another dizzy game, or at least porting the old ones to GBA or DS BRING BACK THE EGG"!!
  7. GTA gets *good* press! >>>SHOCK<<<

"The children happened to be playing a video game called Grand Theft Auto at the time." *sigh*
  8. M.A.M.E.... Am I being to strick with myself?

Stop denying yourself the wondrous treasure trove that is M.A.M.E. The makers of M.A.M.E usually disable support for arcade games that were released in the last two years, even if the romset is widely available, so I think any roms for arcade games that were released in 2003/2004 just won't work, to prevent people from playing current games, of course you could restrict yourself to only play games that are 5 years or older if you wanted to, I always pay for my games, I like having a nice collection of console games piled up on the shelf, I don't sell or trade any of my games and if it's not worth paying for then it's not worth me wasting my life playing it... but i have no qualms about downloading ROMS for defunct games systems, the only exception I'd make is with the Neo Geo King of Fighters and Metal Slug titles of which the romsets can easily be found for M.A.M.E... Ignition entertainment are releasing ports of all these classic titles on PS2 for reasonable prices.. these are worth paying for, SNK/Playmore deserve the love of your wallet
  9. World of WarCraft®

I played FFXI on and off for about a year. I started becoming tired with it months ago but it wasn't until I got into the WoW final beta that I was able to make the decision to stop playing FFXI for good WoW beats FFXI on almost every front, on a technical level FFXI is really demanding in terms of hardware and still only looks like a PS2 game, WoW just looks... beautiful, even on a modest graphics card. WoW seems to not suffer from any of the major grievances I had with FFXI, mainly the fact that it takes an absolute age to get anywhere, even trekking from your mog house to other parts of the city you start in is a complete chore. Juggling your inventory and equipment is time consuming and irritating due to the menu interface being designed around a PS2 controller. Poncing around with linkshells and linkpearls to communicate with people was lame. In WoW you can just create a chat room IRC style. It takes a long time before you see much more than your initial city and the surrounding low level areas, partly due to the fact that it takes sooo long to get anywhere and that you're not even allowed to ride a chocobo until level 20 (not to mention the frustratingly tedious quest you have to do to get that damned license) whereas in WoW you can fly off in airships to other continents really early on. I often found myself logging in, trying to find a party and then logging out an hour later having acheived nothing.... crafting was horrible too, took me hours to catch my first fish. Even with my character at level 25 and having spent countless hours of fishing I was still only a level 3 amateur fisher, in WoW I was able to start catching fish, leathercrafting and cooking gaining proficiency in thos skillsl and making money within a few hours of making my character, MUCH more rewarding. I could go on and on listing my grievances about that title, however I did actually enjoy the game quite a lot for a while, it was my first foray into the MMORPG World and it really did grab me. Whilst playing WoW there were a few things I missed about FFXI, for example in party battles there is a greater feeling of group co-ordination, a certain amount of fluidity and elegance. Saying that though, you do start desparing once you reach level 18+ and trek to Qufim Island full of expectation only to find yourself killing the same blasted landworms and crabs that you were killing at level 1 albeit with slightly different names. The ongoing story was fairly intriguing, you would be greeted with various cutscenes throughout the game as you advance the plot by completing missions and uppping your conquest 'ranking'. You would often get a short cut-scene for completing a basic quest which was nice, as opposed to just a bit of text and the 'quest complete' audio sample you get in Wow. This all served to provide a slightly increased sense of immersion and involvement in the conquests within the world of Vana'diel which is something I'd like to see in WoW. None of that was enough to keep me playing FFXI however, WoW is just so much more accessible, imediately rewarding and FUN than FFXI could ever be, I'm glad I played FFXI because it makes me appreciate just how well thought out WoW is having something to contrast it against. Am very much looking forward to the European release (and collector's edition will be available in Europe too, w00t!)
  10. Trouble in the PSP camp?

    21st November
  11. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Am I the only one who isn't offended in the slightest by Shahdee's 'assets'??
  12. Nintendo DS pics

I like the DS. I just know it's going to be host to many immensely enjoyable fun multiplayer games, one thing Nintendo proved with the SP is they can make games that are ideal for playing on the move. I want something I can pull out of my pocket and have a quick go on whilst siting on the bus or whatever, without any loading times... and COME ON, do you really think this PSP is going to buck the trend of every PlayStation so far and escape from the Evil Loading Bar of Pain? I do have concerns though. Overuse of the touch screen as a controller is worrying, Metroid Hunters to me looks like something that would be akin to trying to play Quake 3 on my powerbook using the trackpad... not good. And Spaff is right, so far Nintendo have failed to demonstrate any kind of game other than Wario Ware DS that makes imaginative use of both screens which is strange seeing as you'd assume it's whole raison d'etre would have been as a vehicle for one of Shigsy's amazingly innovative killer apps. At the end of the day you guys can all sit in your rooms in the dark on your own playing Ridge Racer/Tekken/Wipeout or whatever bollocks on your PSP's, I'll be content with my considerably less expensive DS hopefully exploring the Animal Crossing Villages of my friends across the internet via my wireless LAN, and being warm in that cozy content feeling of knowing that Nintendo 'still loves me'
  13. Nintendo DS pics

I've yet to see anything that quote's Nintendo as confiirming this... I mean, it's not exactly as breathtaking as the SP seemed to look when photos of it first appeared? I'd would've expected something a bit more sleek and sexy Point's moot however, it's not like I'll be able to resist getting one of these no matter what it looks like
  14. Nintendo DS pics

FAKE!! Nintendo said the screens would be flush against eachother, which this clearly is not! I guess we find out in like... an hour or something.
