Lol. If nobody has played it, then I guess no one is going to get it. One final clue: It was one of the first "extreme sports" games. (Although not very extreme by today's standards.)
-
Yeah, it's quite an obscure one. I remember it when it came out on the Spectrum, but I never played it in the arcade. If you didn't play games in the mid-80s, you're never going to get it.
-
Yeah, I was just about to type something similar. I'm a massive MGS nerd (I even bothered to get ALL the achievements in MGS 2 and 3 HD), but my main concern is if it's a good game or not. I don't mind if it's different, just so long as it's good. Nice to hear that it is, btw!

Idle Book Club Episode 5: The Great Gatsby
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Sean's topic in Idle Book Club Episodes
That's sort of true, I think, but it's not just about placing symbolic meaning onto things -- it's placing importance symbolic meaning onto things that are decadent and shallow. The book isn't cynically denouncing dreams and aspirations, it's denouncing dreams and aspirations that lead to greed and selfishness. As I understand it, it's a comment on the decadence of what the American Dream had turned into by the 20s: The selfish desire for money and status. Those wanting money and status (Gatsby) are destroyed by it. Those possessing it (Daisy and Tom) are shown to be horrible, selfish people. -
Yes, it's TimeGentleman

Just post your Steam name and Lacabra will do the rest.

Bah. After Toblix revealed the answers were just Javascript, I took a peek. I know the answers now, but I won't spoil them for people. I will give you a clue, however:

You can learn medicine, but you can't do spoilers? :-/

The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)

Really? It was the same puzzle over and over...? To each to his own, I guess. -
Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
ThunderPeel2001 replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
Well I've seen dogs react like that. Not to music, admittedly, but you seem to think that the dog is actually enjoying the music -- because his face seems to smile. Lord only know what's going on in that dog's mind, but it's highly unlikely to be, "oh man, I love this song!". Animals are weird, and I don't think it's unreasonable or naive to think that with 24 hour's worth of footage being uploaded to YouTube every second, that one of them might involve 60 seconds of a dog apparently enjoying music. Also, I didn't even notice the Bud Light can until you pointed it out, so... -
I loved BRAID so much that this is a day one purchase for me, no matter what it looks like.

I had no idea that [REDACTED] was even released on the Spectrum!

Ha! Looking through what people have gotten so far, I can't believe nobody got all the classic Amiga tunes! That said, I don't know many of the Nintendo/Sega tunes so...
-
May take on Level2 -- didn't do so well And finally Level 3! Maybe that helped fill in a few blanks??
-
Damn. Level one is hard!!! (I got a few though.)
-
Yes, everyone help Lacabra! (I did!)

Ha. This should be fun. Especially if they just announce the PlayStation 3 Slimmer. (Hmm. I guess this time they're trying to get a jump on Micro "first person out of the gate wins" Soft.)
-
You can get the first one for free if you Google "System Shock Portable". I think the rights are so confusing that nobody knows who owns it anymore. That's my guess anyway.

What's this about American exceptionalism?

All this chat makes me want to see a Black Mesa style remake.

My assessment of it has nothing to do with the changes to the Culture system. Also the Technogical Victory is exactly the same as it is in Civ 3. It's more to do with the less obvious things, like poor presentation of stats (which gets in the way sometimes), a few rough edges from the UI POV, and the lame way the ending is handled. Anyhoo, it's still very good, I just wish the high level of polish was present in *every* aspect of the game. (Maybe Gods and Kings adds stuff?) (Also, on my Core i7 it still can take an age between turns...! I feel like there's a setting somewhere that would speed it up.)
