  1. I also imagine this is the kind of game that'll change a lot in early access, strategies will change and how buyouts, claims, etc work could change.. So you're definitely better off watching a video or reading up a bit to get a grip on it if you want to play the game now. And instead think of the "tutorials" as easy pre-defined scenarios like in Transport Tycoon or something, for now.
  2. Yeah, I just watched the tutorial videos from their youtube channel, and it's a pretty thorough explanation of the various mechanics and strategies. You can just watch the second one to get a very basic overview, I think, in only 30 minutes. Of course the tutorials themselves could be clearer, but I'm sure that's on some to-do list at Mohawk already before they make a final release..

Nice! Can't wait to see more! Also, undermined9 nice MONSTROUS signage!
  4. Yeah, I think the 3d animation team did an amazing job of translating the old-school Mickey animation/stretching/shape-changing in the 3d characters. What a wonderful short!
  5. Nintendo 3DS

That Wii U thread was definitely always intended as the Wii U thread (the old name of it came before the Wii U itself was announced, hence the multiple bullshit codenames) I should know, I CREATED IT!
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

I quite liked The Interview. So if you liked ********* Express, haven't seen This is the End and liked the Neighbours trailer.. maybe you'll like The Interview? Wait, did that mess up Ben's formula for liking The Interview?!
  7. Why do you need an achievement for doing something fun? Shouldn't you just do this thing you find so fun?! HUH?!
  8. I'm leaving that typo in. Deal with it!
  9. It bothered me that the entire investigation comes down to Cooper just.. remembering what Laura says in his dream and.. was it just.. flimsy gum and hair evidence he recounts to Truman? It's a minor annoyance, but I wish it had been a real clue as a result of Leland slipping up a bit with the Maddy murder and disposal, somehow.. I like that it required a leap of faith, pushing Leland into locking and having him freak out and confirm Cooper's instinct. And obviously Cooper had sensed something wrong with Leland in the last episode, so it almost felt earned but the whole sequence at the Roadhouse resulting in him suddenly remembering what Laura says... it just felt like a coop-out.
  10. Idle Thumbs Episode Skipping

I use Instacast on iOS, and haven't had any trouble with it. It's not free, though.
  11. I don't know what Bubsy's problem with Stardock is, but I assumed it was how its CEO Brad Wardell has generally been behaving like a jackass on twitter, calling Zoe Quinn a liar and openly supporting #GamerGate. Twitter isn't the best place for well formulated arguments and can easily be taken out of context, but he's been quite consistently obnoxious enough that I shudder every time his name pops up on twitter.. That said, I'm super excited about Soren's game, it looks beautiful, and even though the association bothers me (although I have no idea what this assocation even entails!) it's not going to stop me from supporting this game! Holy hell, it looks so beautiful!
  12. I hadn't seen up to the reveal of that when I first watched it, so on this rewatch I had zero idea..
  13. Grim Fandango Remastered gets the Vainamoinen stamp of Disapproval! Double Fine Logo... Not Earned!
  14. Yeah, this is what I assumed they did. It'd be pretty silly to get an orchestra to record only one of the many orchestra pieces in the game..? EDIT: Just listening to the differences via Let's Plays, the cutscenes definitely are recorded with an orchestra. It's subtle, and the original soundtrack already sounded pretty great, but you can hear more instruments and they don't have that sample-y sound to them.
  15. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I finally changed it so that I could view this thread on my phone, apparently it doesn't like threads with weird characters in the name..
  16. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Maybe the planetoids show up just after those (baby) worlds you played? You'll never know.
  17. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I don't think you can make a fair comparison of 3D World and Galaxy, by ... only playing the first few (baby) worlds with a friend... ...you baby.
  18. Yeah.. I think even if you don't count the people behind re-recording the music (or the entire Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, for that matter) or anyone involved in recording the director's commentary (and subtitling it in the different languages) I'm pretty sure there were still more than 4 people working on this remaster...
  19. His head definitely is in 3D in that one scene but otherwise no I don't think his full figure is ever real-time rendered.
  20. It also introduces a weird mismatch whenever there's a special in-game animation that's rendered, meaning there's a block of low resolution character rendering in the middle of a scene full of otherwise super crisp characters. The best example of that so far is
  21. Plug your shit

AGH! Was excited to hear about the exciting world of book publishing, but DUTCH! >:|
  22. What are you talking about? Jake didn't say "FUCK YOU" at the end of the podcast.
  23. I hope they put out the soundtrack somewhere for buying or streaming or anything! I need to pour it into my ears at all times, thanks.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I think Europe got Brain Age for free too? I have it, at least and I'm not from Japan.
