    But there's no more detail in the original game? In Chan's artwork, for sure, but it's entirely faithful to the screen as it is in-game. (Which MI:SE was not at all, is my point)

    Oh, wow really? I agree I hope they do something interesting with it, but I think this HD repaint does it brilliantly. MI just added all kinds of shit, textures, gradients, repainted shapes so they looked nothing like the former shapes. This is just 1:1 color-wise, gradient-wise and shape-wise. It's not interesting, but it looks completely faithful. MI fundamentally changed a lot of shapes so they suddenly made no sense at all, sharp object were suddenly blurry messes. Of course, I agree that this repaint doesn't look like Peter Chan's original artwork, but neither did the actual game because of obvious limitations. I think I'd rather have something that looked like that than them fucking it up completely. But if they decide to something super cool but different I'd have no problem with that. And I have full faith in them doing it well, actually. It's just after they super ugly MI stuff, I just want something that faithfully upres-es what's already there, if they're not going to do anything interesting with it. So.... I agree, except I think the repaint looks brillo. EDIT: To clarify EVEN FURTHER, I think of that picture as what it'd look like if Peter Chan wasn't making this Special Edition. Like.. a best case scenario of if an outsider would make this. But since Peter Chan is probably, definately, maybe working on this I just want his art, his vision all the way! That'll be brillo stuff. And look nothing like that repaint, because it'd be amazing.

    I see what you mean, but I'd rather it look like this (extremely faithful to the original artwork, which in turn maybe looks a bit flat in HD) rather than them trying to be creative about it and adding things that never were there (texture, etc. or what the MI:SEs looked like) But I'd love to see Peter Chan's hand-painted stuff and they already WORK with him and I'd love to see what he would do with it now (if they don't actually have the original artwork anymore)

    Wow, thanks so much Ben! Great news: I ended up in second place in that game jam! I'm so overwhelmed by the positive response to this! :tup: I guess all you need to do to entertain people is to rip-off Ben There Dan That and add some more animation.. OOOPS!

    It'd probably be setting myself up for disappointment, but if they are going to do substantial upgrading here I would *love* it if they put in Chan's original artwork. I'm really excited to see how far they'll go with this, considering they're calling it a 'Special Edition' Oh, and as was the case with Grim Fandango, due to this news coming from a Sony event this is being sold as a PS4 and Vita "exclusive" but this is obviously also coming to PC, Mac and Linux.

    Is it just me or did they just throw out everything that looked really good about IV?? I'm sure it's techincally more advanced, but it's lost ALL those wonderful colors, soft lighting that made it look great, IMO..

  14. I read it as both, actually. I feel like the scene finally showed us some real emotions between the two, some sort of shadow of why they ever were together in the first place. And Catherine comes off as genuine, but is obviously also just trying to get Pete to help her and still finds Pete ridiculous, hence her eye-rolling at Pete's overwhelming emotions at the end. I don't know, it just felt like.. obviously Catherine has ulterior motives ALL THE TIME, but she was also being genuine to a certain degree.
  15. Is there seriously NO WAY AT ALL to set a default control scheme. Playing single player and having to select your name every single time I go into a new mode is so fucking tedious. I understand it not selecting a name for you in multiplayer situations, but when I'm playing alone JUST LET ME SELECT A DEFAULT NAME THAT IS SELECTED EVERY TIME! :( :tdown: Other than that, holy shit this is fantastic! I've only had one local multiplayer match so far, so I've been blasting through some of the single player stuff. It's excellent! Event mode is fantastic. Smash Tour with CPUs was not fun, though...

    Yeah, that Stormtrooper shuttle shot stood out to me as well. In context it might be fitting, but in that teaser trailer it deffo stood out as much less faithful, visually, than the other stuff. Not that it didn't look cool, just one of the much more modern film-y shots of that trailer. And very busy compared to the desert shots. That joke Lucas trailer spoof reeeeally highlights how clean and simple this teaser trailer is and I really like that.

    The problem with that backseat-directing shot is that the sense of intertia and power comes from the fact that you can see the ship moving way from the top to bottom. Which means the Falcon would be tiny if this were an actual shot.. It would be fun to see it stabilized but where the framing doesn't race from the top to the bottom, just to see what it looks like.

    It's finished! David Hughes provided some cool intro music and I finished the game! There are practically no puzzles, the writing's obviously brilliant and.. there are 4 colours and some bleeps and bloops. Oh, and there's a bunch of animations! All in all, it's pretty short and light on any kind of meaningful gameplay but whatevs! Two weeks this was made in!
