They haven't announced it yet, but it might happen today.

I finally finished Dark Souls 3!
-
Yeah, he was and it’s dreadfully obvious.

With the further enshittification of the entire social media landscape, I was wondering.. Is it maybe time to move back to forums again? I kind of miss the slower pace of forums.. Look forward to discussing this further with the remaining active members (0) of this forum.

I definitely failed this challenge. Sorry. I'm still reading everything everyone's posting, tho. I will be back to posting soon!

Damn.. Captain America: Brave New World was really middling to bad. Very messy, sometimes good, never even close to great. Often just flat out boring. I would be very interested to know what the shape of the film was before they started redoing so much of it.

It’s 2025 and that means Season 2 of Andor is just around the corner. Season 1 ended up being one of my favorite television ever, so I’m incredibly excited for 2. Sad that that’s the end, but gives it an even bigger chance of ending with a perfect track record. Anyone else excited about it?

oh nice, I’ve been following the development of his latest game not even knowing he’d made similar games before. His newest one is out now, by the way: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1739900/Death_of_the_Reprobate/

Rewatched Captain America: The Winter Soldier, preparing for the new Captain America and man.. that is a *very* tight film compared to MCU films later on. From the very first running scene with Steve and Sam, the first 50 minutes or so fly by so quickly, with the big boat setpiece, Fury's escape and the elevator fight. It's just really tight action film-making and Cap feels so chunky and powerful in this one. Absolute love it. Sort of slowly falls apart by the end, when it's a gigantic three helicarrier setpiece, but the first half is so good it carries you over the later half. Redford and Sam Jackson are great. After that I started Captain America: Civil War, which just immediately feels like such a downgrade. Lots of fun elements, but you can feel the bloat. Too many threads, too nebulous a threat from Zemo. The opening setpiece is no Lemurian Star. Has to do a lot of introductions and setting up before it can get anywhere. The big fight between them all at the airport is a lot of fun, but it's just there to be fun. I do like the central conflict between Tony and Steve and their final fight over Bucky is where the real stuff is, but the way there is just too sweaty. So.. I'm still excited to see the fourth one. I really like the trailers they've been putting out for it. Maybe Ford can bring some good Redford energy to this one. Speaking of trailers! The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer looks awesome!

Even our very own Doug Tabacco?! #SaveDoug

Thanks clyde! It sounds really nice, I'll make sure to check it out. Sci-fi and fantasy was my main jam when I did read (a lot of it was just Pratchett books, honestly) so Murderbot sounds right up my alley. Thanks!

Halo2's obviously gone missing, but now that this is just a general recommendation thread.. does anyone have any new recommendations? Or, actually: Does anyone have any good recommendations for someone (me) who doesn't read a lot? I dream of getting back to reading, but I might want to start with something a bit easier on the brain.

Hey! I decided to just make my own little thread for posting my 3D experiments, instead of clogging up the Plug your shit thread constantly. Here are some of the latest experiments. And my latest attempt at cartoon face rigging: And this thing, whatever it is: Anyway, STAY TUNED! for further attempts at 3D shit. For fun, here's my first ever 3D art ever posted online, back in 2002.

I've also started learning some more Blender. First up was learning how to render in Cycles and rig a character. Here's where I am so far.

Made this Yulelad animation lasts Christmas.

Heck yeah! Let's do it.

Ah, perfect! Excellent recommendation, I'll check it out. Thanks! Look at us, using forums to recommend things again. 🥰

Tragic, that after all the mentions on the podcast we never got to do a UFO 50 thread on the forums. So let's rectify this immediately. What's your favorite of the 50? I still haven't played them all, but I was very fond of Lords of Diskonia. Something about the disc, air hockey physics just worked for me. I need to try that one again, see if I can actually win something there. The other one that immediately grabbed me was Paint Chase. Splatoon racing is just such a great idea, so much so I almost wanted to start implementing a paint mode into Tiny Tires.

Video Update! MAILING LIST SIGNUP! Alright, might as well have a thread for any future updates about Tiny Tires, my Micro Machines-like arcade racing game that is slowly being put together in my free time. I've taken a big break from this game but with Unity's new multiplayer features I thought I'd take a stab at implementing some sort of online component. Turns out getting the cars synced and fooling around with them with people on the internet was easy enough. Now to.. y'know, actually implement player colors, names and.. well an actual Race with laps and shit. Come and hang out in the Idle Thumbs IRC channel where I occasionally will organise some Tiny Tires multiplayer tests every once in a while! Some vines (where you can't really see it's online, but TRUST ME IT IS!) https://vine.co/v/e5PjpnXnuV5 https://vine.co/v/e5iEmKtD9hi https://vine.co/v/e5PrKPOUAuh

Good catch! I haven't seen any site mention that there's dual optical sensors. Maybe it's for determining the orientation of the mouse, e.g. for rotating a brush when painting in Mario Paint.
-
Amazing! Is that a new Mario Kart? And the joy-cons working like a Mouse?!

That's actually a very good idea, going in as blind as possible. I'm already spoiled on some surprises, but maybe I can stay away from any more previews and news 'til April. We'll see. As for Disney ruining it, I'm optimistic they won't. It's not a big enough hit for them to meddle with, I feel. But I could be wrong. It's a minor miracle already that we're even getting a Season 2, that Tony Gilroy seemingly has so much creative freedom and the budget for both seasons is reportedly at $645 million. Maybe Disney will fuck with it after all, with it seemingly the only good Star Wars thing they've got going for them*. *I like Skeleton Crew a lot, for very different reasons. It's not the best Star Wars, or anything, but it's oozing with personality.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 54: Season Three Wrap-up, Final Thoughts, and Mailbag
BigJKO replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
Rewatched Fire Walk With Me and The Return at the end of last year and had an absolute blast re-listening to this whole podcast simultaneously. An incredible resource and also very funny to listen to the various theorizing and thoughts early on. Just wanted to mention that this is still one of the best Twin Peaks podcasts out there and well worth re-listening to. Great job, guys! -
How's everyone doing? Been awhile
BigJKO replied to MadJackalope's topic in Important If True Episodes
Hey there! Yeah, the spam bots have found the forum. Couple of weeks back I was lamenting the lack of forums these days, and tried to jumpstart this forum. But it remains quite empty. I'm still checking in once every week, though. Otherwise I'm on Bluesky and Discord (the Nick Breckon server) mostly these days.
