I think the Adventure Company pumps out a lot more Myst clones that Orwellian conspiracy games. But I suppose it doesn't really matter what rut the genre's stuck in. p.s. I can't wait for Dreamfall. Man, if only it could get marketed like Psychonauts has. And even then it probably wouldn't sell well.

Yes, please, no "Dude, it's just a game." Whenever I hear that I want to kill something. I didn't really understand the end because my audio kept cutting out for no apparent reason in the final cutscenes.

Uh, no. I meant they are unique to each other in the game, i.e. they are balanced, each has its own uses, no weapon is useless, there is no super-weapon that owns all.

Have you played the latest one? It suffers from the Warrior Within syndrome as well. Basically, you can kill anyone without worrying about anything. There isn't any danger any more, you're just so badass you can knife or shoot everyone before they can pull an alarm.

Like, say, Half-Life and its sequel? Far Cry? I don't consider most of the games you mentioned FPSs... seriously, Thief? BTW, it's not the image of the weapons, but the way each is designed to be useful and unique. Plasma is better against shields and slows enemies, plasma pistol sucks but has overcharge, needler is useful for hit and run only, bullets are better against unshielded targets, etc. . . oh, and grenades. Halo is one of the few FPSs to do grenades right. Halo's not a great game by any means (HL1/2 are much, much better), but it's not terrible either.

ERSB has a commercial. I just saw it on TV. It has Tiger Woods (at least, I think that's who it was). No mentions of anything besides the ERSB ratings. Neat.

Female lead that exists merely for sex appeal? Bulky action here with sarcastic, cliche one-liners in the face of extreme danger? Ridiculously overpowered weapon that makes all others pointless? Ridiculously overpowered bosses? It has its fair share, but you certainly didn't think very hard.

I keep getting people asking me if I've heard about the movie (I reread The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide a couple weeks ago), and for the most part they seem genuinely interested in it. Actually, it's been freaking me out because I never realized so many people pay attention to what I read. Oh yeah, and the British website is much better. Big surprise there.
