Well, it has finally shipped. Hoorah! Now I just have to wait and see if I have disc four. (Maybe I'll have all the disc fours everyone else is missing and no other discs.)
-
I'll likely be waiting another two weeks, as I'm leaving the country Sunday and doubt I will have the game by then.

You know how every so often a thread comes along that inspires someone to request a thread hall of fame to preserve the gems for future generations?
-
You made all that up, right? I went to his site, but missed the Sanford & Sons bit.
-
We eagerly await your report once it let's you dl the damn thing.
-
You'd think some people would have two disc fours. Are they definitely the same discs, and not just mislabeled? I still haven't heard from Gamestop re why my damn game hasn't shipped!Hopefully it'll have disc 4 when it does.

Let us know if the dialogue is proofed better.

The Third Man Vertigo

Not as far as I can tell. Also, a small tip: If you're making the game to get a job, it might be advisable to create an original concept.

Does this use the Scumm engine? Could I run it on my Mac with Scumm VM?
-
Thanks for the spoiler protection.
-
Can't you people talk about the game with spoiler-filled posts in a thread that's not devoted to the commiseration of people who haven't received their copy yet?!?!?! Thanks.

At least yours has shipped. I ordered Feb. 1, so I doubt it's a priority thing, but my game hasn't shipped. Maybe it's a shirt shortage.

I'm missing the DFAN cribbing. Is this related to a specific post? [EDIT: By post, I mean a specific date or quote of Tim's entry.] The GameCube is a highly underrated system, mainly due to the "aren't enough titles" (aka no Psychonauts) issue, and I actually think Psychonauts could have sold very well on the console, given it's less blood-and-tits-centered audience. It also has the edge of being the only console whose outward appearance isn't an eyesore in any reasonably decorated room. Sure the slim PS2 is cool for its size, but the ribs and the two textures of black plastic are awkward and too busy. The Xbox, well…it's both giant and shockingly ugly, and I don't think I have to argue that point. Sure, a console can be awesome and ugly, but it denotes a certain amount of pride when designers go through the trouble to make their console something that non-gamers wouldn't mind having in their living room. To summarize in 15 words: GameCube Not giant, not ugly, not giant and ugly, runs better than realized, but no Psychonauts.

Other than some obnoxious editing and effects (and poor location sound), the show is quite good. They don't credit Tim for creating Monkey Island, but spend a lot of time talking about him writing for it. I would have liked to maybe see Ron talk about it a little too. I think the voice-over also said "Tim and his collaborators" at one point (after saying Gilbert created it) while talking about the game, which may offend some. Also, Tim says that GF met its business goals and that he doesn't know why it's considered a financial disaster. It also talks about how adventure games were dwindling as each of Tim's games were released, but then says DotT and FT were big hits. So yeah, I'm sure some adventure nuts might have a problem with that. But overall, a cool look into Tim's work. I have the show recorded, but no experience putting it on the internet, so hopefully netmonkey can do it.

Gamestop is listing the status as "usually ships in 24 hours." Does that mean it's in stock finally? Anyone else have a problem with the fact that two big game sites are anagrams of one another?
-
This is supposed to be a hate thread.
-
So does anyone have the PC copy yet? I haven't heard from Gamespot since they sent the thing out about the first delay.
-
Seeing as I still haven't played anything but the demo, should I expect a lot of spoilers? I will never play Psychonauts.

Remember that awkward Sega arcade game from 15 years ago, where you controlled 3D holograms in a fight game whose only virtue was this gimmick? Maybe it's like that. (Or the chess-like board game from Star Wars.) It would make since, as the cost of those things must have fallen by now.

Will inserting your penis in the infrared wireless receiver be adequate? Speaking of wireless, would they really use infrared? Doesn't strike me as the best wireless device. Wouldn't bluetooth or something not requiring a line of view from controller to console be better? (By the way, they definitely won't have the hard drive in a wireless controller. Also, controllers tend to take more abuse than the consoles, so it's probably not the best place to put it.) Also, maybe they should make the fake Xbox360 round instead of the fake PS3.

If it has three times the processing power of a G5, why not use it for something other than games? PS I call the next easiest-joke-setup ever for a punch-line that uses hardware as a sexual reference.

I'm going to have to rent it and find an Xbox or something as well. Argh. Can't they at least send me my shirt so I can feel like I have the game? It's very strange when the game you've been wishing would come out already finally comes out and you still haven't played the damn thing (past the demo)! I'm going to be so busy now, i don't anticipate being able to play until the end of May, after I get back from Cannes.
