"On the Spot," Psychonauts on "On the Spot," and other gamer TV
nsps replied to Moosferatu's topic in Video Gaming
Trep is right. While some interview subjects are certainly more talented performers than others, it's not their job, especially if they're not performers, to make the interview go smoothly. The PSP questions were particularly awkward, and should have been covered before bringing the two designers out. I did, however, think there was some interesting stuff in the show. -
This has already been covered in another thread: http://forums.idlethumbs.net/showthread.php?t=2040

You know you're in the hands of a skilled interviewer when he basically says, "We already talked about this, but I'm gonna read this question anyway so we can go over the same answer." -
Yeah, 9 isn't too tough either. I'm on 10 now, which I cracked but still can't tell what the password is (you'll know what I mean when you get there. Anyway, I'm growing a bit tired with these.

I was going to suggest that Sony claim the vibrations were used for sexual stimulation and not gameplay. Now that would be some keen legal maneuvering.

If you haven't got it yet, here are a few hints. I'll leave it at that for now.

Yes, they were hoping that no one would notice their controllers rumbled. In other rumble news, I think Dreamcast controllers rumbled, and N64 had an add-on for rumble. Or maybe they were both add ons. Hope you've enjoyed this confident and 100-percent-accurate history.

Hmmm. Yes, I assume the patent law would only apply to the controller. But since the system itself sends rumbling instructions, I don't know what patent law thinks of the whole thing. Anyone know if anyone other than the main console company needs to pay for the license? Developers? Third party manufacturers, or only Nintendo and Microsoft? Any third-party controllers for PS2 that actually do pay it? Patent law sure is fun.

The new CoT looks great! The artwork is great, and it has a much cleaner design. Yee haw.
-
Ah, for a second I thought none of the companies were licensing it and did wonder why Sony was the only offending party. How could Sony's legal department be so dumb?
-
But can you play the bear that turns into the statue?
-
Yay! I can finally put those bots to use! (Anyone else get some private messages asking for help on the virus bots from the other thread?)
-
That would explain the misuse of the apostrophe.

I was going to say, the candy, not the Burger King sandwich, but instead I thought I'd just include a link to a page about the candy. Still, someone had to be a smartass.

Since those who don't know what Horlicks are fall into the same group of people who don't know what Malteasers are (group: U.S. residents), they're like Whoppers.

Were the other reviews the newsletter mentioned not real reviews (4/4 from Playboy and Blender)?
-
Does that mean "greater than greater than" pro? If so, can I get me a pro one for around $100?
-
If I were less lazy, I'd go through the pages of posts to find the one with the Psychonauts PC specs. Go look at that one and they're all there.
-
We haven't seen anything to suggest that they come in more than one size, so presumably a larger one designed to contain the average gamer's girth. I was never given a size option, but I did order before the shirts were offered.

Um, what if it only looks human but really is an alien? o_0

I was wondering the same thing. Some states have tried to do similar things with movie ratings—I don't know if any laws are in effect or not—and it does make a little more sense than describing content that can obviously be worked around. Of course, it's all bullshit. It won't stop kids from playing them, and don't most retailers voluntarily enforce the ratings? -

What about killing Nazis? Aliens that look like Nazis? In combat or in laboratory/castles? What if you're not killing robotic monsters, but simply freeing the happy animals trapped inside? What if the whole game is a dream? -
How can you tell someone about the page, unless you haven't been there? Also, what if this post was written by a forum bot?

So, would you be able to play as both Alfred and Robyn?

Oh, and as for the patches, they'd be cool, but we should contact Tim and see if he'll give us permission.
