  1. Quantum Break coming to PC

Looks like it's going to be exclusive to the Windows Store though, ugh. http://www.pcgamer.com/quantum-break-wont-be-available-on-steam/ Or at least at first, who knows if they'll change their mind.
  2. Same, and I appreciate that the lengths of the books chosen so far have been pretty manageable so I can get through this and a couple of other books each month.
  3. Just finished it. Loved it. It made me really want to go camping, which I haven't done in years. I'll probably play the game in another month or two to just hike around and look at stuff. I get the feeling I missed a lot of hidden stuff but I didn't want to look in this thread until I finished the game.
  4. I finished it a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. I guess I agree with a lot of people here that enjoyed the first half more and wanted more of that, but I think that being aware of the tonal shift made it easier for me to adjust to the change and it ended up being a less drastic change than what I had expected.
  5. I'm still hoping that Wolf Hall will be discussed in May as originally promised. But seriously, maybe Bringing Up Bodies in a future episode? I loved Wolf Hall and the sequel has been sitting in my backlog for too long.
  6. Cities: Skylines

Is the sale done? I see that it's on GMG for $30. I'll probably still buy it after how much the podcast seemed to love it.
  7. Hotline Miami

Now that I finished it I was wondering if anyone else felt underwhelmed by the game. I don't think it's bad but the story stuff isn't as interesting as I thought it would be, considering I found the very few scraps of story interesting in the first game, and I found a few of the levels a lot more frustrating that anything in the first game. It also felt a lot slower paced in the outdoor levels. Oh well, I'll still probably try to unlock a few of the achievements as an excuse to go back to some of the levels and at least the soundtrack is still amazing.
  8. Feminism

This seems like something that has happened before and unfortunately becomes necessary after a group gets shit on for its ideas even if plenty of people agree with them. It seems like the same thing has happened in America with more liberal people calling themselves progressive instead of liberal since that seems to have a negative connotation to a lot of people for no particular reason other than efficient messaging by conservative groups I guess? For whatever reason so many people associate feminism with non-sense like man hating and I don't think it's possible to reverse that mindset at this point without just calling it something else.
  9. I think I would actually prefer a theme. It might actually make it a lot easier for me to come up with something other than the stuff I'm working on now. And yeah, I would like to participate too!
  10. Hotline Miami

Got my vinyl set today. I only listened to the first LP but I'm loving the soundtrack so far. It's pretty much what you would expect from a Hotline Miami soundtrack. Can't wait to hear the rest in the game tomorrow!
  11. Amateur Game Making Night

Does anyone know of any good tools or guides for doing pixel art? I know it's over used in games but it's probably the only way I'll be able to do art for my game
  12. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

That wasn't a COOL thing for Majesco to do (I'm so sorry for that) I hope the Sony thing works out. More money for Fullbright would be nice.
  13. What's a good space 4X game?

Has anyone played Galactic Civilizations 3 yet? How is that?
  14. Amateur Game Making Night

Awesome, I'm also trying to not die from boredom from the iOS game menus and UI I'm designing. Menus are the best worst! I mostly hate them because at least I have a better idea of what feels right during the gameplay. With the UI and menus I'm not as sure and I don't think I'll really know until I start making friends test it out.
  15. Nonviolent and Alternative mechanics

I would say that a great amount of interactive fiction is about solving problems through non-violent ways. Try checking out a game like Lost Pig that's good for IF beginners or the hundreds of games made using Twine. There's also a lot of games that are primarily based around walking and experiencing the environment like Proteus and Dear Esther. There's also the Myst series.
  16. For the longest time everyone had thought that ID Software had given Wisdom Tree the Wolf3D source code as revenge for Nintendo make ID censor Wolf3D on the SNES, the book Masters of Doom even says it, but apparently Wisdom Tree licensed the engine like any other developer would. Oh well. Apparently it's also been rereleased so you can still buy the game! http://pikointeractive.com/store.html#!/~/product/category=9430344&id=30897400 And Joe Biden was mentioned in this podcast, which is enough of a reason for me to post this, which I had just found in an article on PC Gamer
  17. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah, I know most people here probably know about them but one of their albums was just rereleased this week so I've been listening to them a lot lately along with other riot grrl and punk.
  18. Jane Jensen's Pinkerton Road CSG Kickstarter

I'm glad the writing and gameplay seem to hold up ok. I was well aware of the artwork looking horrid from seeing the previews so I was pretty pessimistic about the rest of the game. EDIT: I just started playing. Oh god, the animation and models in this are worse than they are in the trailers. The writing seems fine and I'm liking the music so far but even as someone who usually doesn't even care about graphics this is really bothering me. How did they think this was ok? Luckily it looks like the models in the Gabriel Knight remake are better.
  19. Diablo III

Wait what's this? Blizzard is separate from Activision now? Did anyone read Stay Awhile and Listen? It's an ebook about the making of the first Diablo and I thought it was pretty cool. It's not perfect but it's a pretty fun read if you liked other stuff like Masters of Doom. http://www.amazon.com/Stay-Awhile-Listen-Blizzards-Video-Game-ebook/dp/B00G8UL474/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397438036&sr=8-1&keywords=stay+awhile+and+listen And yeah, change the difficulty. The game improves drastically if you play on a harder difficulty and play with friends instead of solo. Join the Thumbs guild, we'll play with you!
  20. Morrowind

I think what I love the most about Morrowind is the world itself. Everything just feels so alien in the creature and building design. I had such a hard time getting into Oblivion because the world felt like generic fantasy compared to Morrowind. Skyrim still wasn't as good but at least it was better than Oblivion. Now I really want to play Morrowind again. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is how tedious it is fighting cliff racers.
  21. Year of the Goat has replaced Year of Luigi
  22. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Never heard of it but I do like Brian K. Vaughan. I'll check it out!
  23. I'd also like to say Danielle is great and I hope she comes back soon. It sucks that there's some negativity in this thread but at least it rarely ever happens here. I was also expecting Remo to be more of an expert on escape goats since he did write this
  24. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Would you recommend these if I wanted to get through the series? I've only read the first story a long time ago and would like to get through the rest. I don't know why I waited since I really liked the comic too. Are the spinoffs worth reading too? I know nothing about Hellboy aside from the first few issues.
  25. Diablo III

I really should pay more attention to the multiplayer gaming group. Request sent!
