I've been playing a lot of The Hidden (HL2 mod) lately, and it's great fun... when it works! Buggy, including a bug that crashes the game about 50% of the times you try to join a server... But a new beta with these things fixed should be out soon. Until then, it's still a blast... when it works! cynicism--;

One of the 200 or so pirated games on my brother's C64 no doubt! Ah, what a machine. It taught me how to read when I was 3, and when I was 7 I was already playing English IF games. With little success mind, but I was playing them! First PC games that I really played a lot are probably Civilization, Dune 2, Police Quest 1 and Indiana Jones: Last Crusade. I copied (sorry!) IJ:LC from a friend who didn't realize you could save the game. Everytime he wanted to play it, he had to start from the beginning. He managed to finish it. Hardcore.

Actually, I posted that horrible screenshots for two reasons. 1) It looks like crap, technically, as you've all noticed. and 2) It looks like their concept artist is 9 years old. It just looks so... awful. Even those nick posted. A veiny mass of flesh with a huge gun for an arm, hovering around? Is this it? Have I finally gotten old? :/

I'm getting it slowly via the torrent on 3dgamers.com FEAR is one of these games that I expect that playing the demo will be fun, and just enough of the game that anymore would lead to boredom and frustration. Btw, did anyone else think the "trailer" to this game was the silliest thing ever? 0:00 - 0:05 Oooh! FEAR! Fear is a strange emotion! Ooooh! OOOOH! FEEEEAR!! 0:06 - 1:30 *absolutely, positively standard FPS action that looks identical to any run-and-shoot game you've ever seen* 1:31 - 1:36 OOOOOH! FEEEEEAR! BE AFRAID!

About time somebody brought Skool Daze into the new millennium!

Yeah, I'm kind of neutral about the whole deal, and that article I linked to has a few too many swears to be taken completely seriously. But I do think it would have been insanely cool to see David Bateson himself as 47 in the movie.

I'll be damned. An adventure game I'm actually looking forward to!

Stealth and hiding is all good, but not in an empty hallway. Directly under a light. God, no. Sure, there were other annoying bits in the game too, but that scenario was the one that made me uninstall.

I think the fact that enemies can sit in an empty hallway directly under a light, without your soldiers noticing them even if you run into them, indeed makes this game too hard.

god... damnit

Hmm. The portals and gravity shifts look nice, but that video still contains everything I'm so tired of: - Darkness - Teleporting monsters - Demons - Teleporting monster demons that take half a minute of constant fire to kill, after which you yawn and prepare for the next teleporting monster demon - Big, strange guns that shoot green things that go "bzloork!"

Interesting choice for a "sneak peek" image. And by interesting; I mean not very interesting at all. It has nothing in it that wasn't in HL2.

For a moment there I got scared. But then I remembered that Irrational Games are the ones doing Bioshock.

I wouldn't mind a new Mafia. I'm skeptical, but there's a little bit of me hoping it'll be good.

Sounds like you can't even download this if your system doesn't meet the requirements?? It may run at 1 FPS for me, but I want to see it anyway, damnit!

Agreement. This was one of my biggest gripes with Broken Sword 3. I remember when I entered a room that had a big awesome looking machine in it, only I couldn't quite look at the whole thing because the camera was placed in a stupid place, so I ended up running around the room, desperately trying to look at the machine. I never quite got the impression of what kind of machine it was, and how big it was, because I only managed to get small glimpses at it. Granted, I don't think the machine played a big part of the game, but it was there and I wanted to look at it.

I love this mod. Now please suffer my pics: Looks like a da Vinci contraption Name the movie The pool-party! Alyx gets a tan while the boys celebrate the newly built raft with a very fabulous high-five Whee!

Yes. That's exactly it. The crew gets unhappy if you've been sailing too long, so it's good to divide after about a year of sailing. Also make sure you don't take on any new crewmembers before you're about to divide. You might even want to go into battle and deliberately kill some of your men to increase everybody's share of the loot. That way you'll have an easier time recruiting men on your next journey. This was even more important in the original, since you didn't get a raw percentage of the cut, instead you counted as 10 crewmembers or something, and got your share of the plunder accordingly. I kind of like that, and would have liked if they had kept it that way. I remember once in Pirates! Gold when it was down to just me and 2 other crewmembers after I had plundered an Aztec lost city. We were most delighted with our big cut.

It's not too difficult once you start recognizing the patterns. I find the dancing to be one of the easiest bits in the game. Perhaps it's the soothing tones of Bach that have that effect on me.

Welcome back to Mars, the Evil has been Resurrected

Oh man. More annoying monsters. More dark levels. I can hardly wait. -
Like Erwin, it only took me about five minutes from when I started Steam to when I was able to play it. Then again, I was being nerdy and got up early so I could unlock it immediately at release. I probably got in before the salivating horde of gamers DoSed Steam.
