I guess the important question for 360 owners is: How screwed are you if you don't have Live?

I don't recall ever preordering from Amazon. But even if they ship on release date you'll get it really quickly, usually. I just received an order that I placed 2 days ago.

I still don't see why you think Valve is such an altruistic company. Wasn't one of the main reasons for Steam the fact that they could cut out Vivendi and get more profit for themselves? It's not like they made it cheaper to pick up HL2 over Steam than in a box.

And where exactly do you get this idea? They're a business; they're primary objective is to make money.

Yeah. I have the same problem with the retail version. Ubisoft Support is useless: They flat out told me that updating my video drivers would fix the problem. This was incorrect. The problem was that I am running AMD Cool 'n Quiet. Just turn that off in the BIOS and the game will run at the right speed. If you have an Intel then you'll have to disable SpeedStep. It's a simple enough solution that they should have an FAQ answer about it. ________ Yamaha YZ100

It could also be a CPU thing. I have an Athlon 64 3500+ with Cool 'n' Quiet enabled and some games (Starship Troopers demo and Beyond Good and Evil) don't realize this. They set themselves to the slowed down CPU and then the game plays about 2.2 times as fast as it should once the CPU speeds up. If you have Intel SpeedStep or AMD Cool 'n' Quiet enabled you should turn them off to make some old games run at the right speeds. ________ vaporizers
