Oh ok. I suppose that makes more sense. I've just heard everywhere people saying "If you play Metroid you need th thumb strap" and I've never really understood what special qualities it had
-
Do you really need the thumb strap? I don't really get it. Can't you just use your thumb, strapped or not?

I've bought a Megadrive for my girlfriend for Christmas (long story...) and I need some games for it. Are there any really good 2 player games anyone can recommend?
-
It's a bit more pricey and elusive and I'm planning on getting other things. But we'll see...
-
Two? I didn't realise that. I've only played Rayman Advance (the launch title) which I assumed Ben was going on about

I have the GBA one and I'm pretty sure the DS version is different. It always seems to get much lower scores in reviews and the whatever. The save system in the GBA one is super annoying though.

Alright, so so far I picked up Sonic 1 & 2 and Stimpy's Invention. That should do for now I think. Thanks everyone!

Thanks. I guess I'm in for a fun evening trawling through eBay

Brain Training... more like: this actually isn't Brain Training

Recently I made my triumphant return to video gaming by jumping on the bandwagon and buying a DS. After realising the million or so DS games I wanted for it but can't afford, I noticed that quite a few of the early Final Fantasy games were re-released for the Advance. Now, I've never played them before and have never really felt very compelled to even pick one up and pretend to be interested in it like I often do when I have no money but for whatever reason, I feel that I should at least give it a go, right? To me it makes sense that I should get the first two (which come bundled together) and then, if I like it, wait for the 3rd to come out on DS and then continue in that fashion but then I thought... what if the first one's really crap? Would that give me a bad representation of the rest of the seires? So, the summarise: Should I start from the start with the Final Fantasy series?

That's good. I'm digging it at the moment but, although I've heard they're supposed to be quite long games, I'm wary of going through it too fast. Anyone know how many hours it's supposed to take on average to beat this game? I would look at how far I am through on a walkthrough or guide or something but I know I'd just end up getting hooked on it or spoiling something for myself...

Even if we did that the European prisoners would not be released until well after the American ones were...
-
Awesome. I guess I'll be importing it at some point then

Yeah out in the US in February. Are GBA games region locked on the DS or is the whole this region free? Would be great if they weren't controlled

My copy of FF3 arrived this morning and so far I've put about 3 hours into it and at the moment I absolutely love it. I don't really know why yet, it's just plenty interesting and it's kind of nice hunting things out in a game again as opposed to just plowing through levels. But I can honestly say it's the best RPG I've ever played But I heard somewhere (probably this very thread) that the later ones are different to the older ones and whatever so I was wondering, what's so different and which ones are more like this one (what with it being a kind of modified old game)?

My DS isn't compatible with the security settings with my internet meaning I can't connect using it and, obviously, I have issues with turning off my security in order to play Mario Kart so I'm thinking of getting one of those USB WiFi dongle things (you know the one I mean...). My only reservation with it is that I don't really know how it works so before I go spending my hard earned cash money on a relatively small piece of equipment I have to ask: with the Wifi dongle connected, my security settings wouldn't be a problem, would they? Is it just a case of bypassing my existing network? Also, I'm curious as to how well they work. My computers are in my loft and so if I turn it on up there and go down in my front room (2 staircases down), will it still have a good enough signal strength?
-
The On The Spot where they played it was awesome though. Easily the best bit in that show's history

Does anyone have FF 3 yet? I preordered it from Movietyme the other day and am now waiting for it to arrive (I don't know how quick they are). But if you've got it, what do you think?

PS3 backwards compatibility glitch.

And update 7.5 by the time it comes to Europe -
Again, a game I'd love to get if only the DS would recognise my Wifi
-
My network isn't recognised by my DS which is pretty annoying since I really want to play Mario Kart on it... But hey, Christmas is coming up so maybe I'll ask for one of those USB Wifi things.
-
Yeah I think so, there were some other games too like Tetris and... some others I don't remember but the basic idea is there with the Mario one

The ones in the UK sponsoring comedy shows on Channel 4 are great, they show a huge DS backdrop with people acting out parts of the best selling games. Also, the old Double Dash one with the old woman in the airport was also pretty awesome. I'll try and find them on Youtube when I have a bit more time (unless someone wants to beat me to it...) Too late, I found them: New Super Mario Bros. Advert Double Dash!
-
Yeah tell me about it. Everytime I decide to spend what money I have on a game, there are about 10 others I want. Just take my money!
-
Ha ha. That did look pretty awesome. Wario seems a little underanimated to me though...
