Ordinarily I agree, but a guilty pleasure of mine is The Inbetweeners. It is extremely purile, lowest common denominator rubbish but somehow it manages to be quite sophisticated at the same time. The best way I can describe it is as Peep Show: The Early Years. It looks awful, I know, but I'd recommend that people at least give it a try and watch an episode.

I heard he left in this bug where the player can rewind time.

Idle Thumbs 15: I'll Kill the Last Alien
SignorSuperdouche replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Hey, me too. Weird. So I went and listened to a bit of that Tapezilla thing and basically it's solid meh. The idea of a satirical podcast with absurd caricatures of gamers is quite a good one, but they dragged it out for too long and just ran the joke into the ground. I thought the line about 1up's demise being the worst thing to happen since 9/11 was pretty funny though. -
He's so gansgta

Really? I thought it was hilariously bad. I've watched the video a few times now and I'm really getting into it. It reminded me a bit of Italian Spiderman

I'm pretty sure the sets were just stock footage/photos that the actors were superimposed upon. As for camera work, well as far as I could make out they just set the camera down and left it there.

With increasing frequency, it seems, I cannot tell what is satire and what is serious. I'm sure I saw Rachel Blanchard in there a couple of times though.

video games are a religion.

That's a great point elmuerte. I am an atheist but I have no interest in promoting atheism. What I want to see promoted is an understanding of the scientific method and critical evaluation skills so that people spot bullshit of any kind. I want people to question authority and be able to spot rhetoric and logical fallacies a mile off. These tools led me to becoming an atheist, and are far more important and useful than atheism itself.

Goddamn it. Yeah, I've been accessing idlethumbs.com for a week rather than .net Oh well, mystery solved. Thanks Toblix.

I had some free time today so I've done a quick bit of testing. The site works fine in Firefox on Win XP and Fedora, just not on my Ubuntu machine. Even though the settings are all exactly the same Other browsers work fine on my Ubuntu box too, so it's the combination of the two for some reason. I'm just going to reinstall Firefox, it's easier than trying to figure out what the bally hell's going on..

This probably doesn't warrant a new thread so I'll mention it here. For the last few days I've been constantly prompted to login. If I don't delete all my cookies before entering my username and password I just get redirected back to the login page. Once I am logged in I have to delete my cookies and login again whenever I go to another page. Is the problem at my end or have you guys changed something behind the scenes?

I totally disagree. I think that the term perfectly sums up the type of atheist who thinks that these bus adverts are a good idea. They share the same baseless sense of superiority and often use to the same ad hominem arguments that evangelicals of the christian variety are known for. They have the same desire to convert people and look down on those who disagree. They are smug, arrogant pricks that just want a cause to fight for and a group to identify themselves with. The word definitely applies.

That's a fairly weird documentary there, I was just expecting it to go on to explain how she scarpered with the cash but then it turned into a bad episode of CSI . I'm in two minds about having an atheist group like this. Removing "under God" from the pledge of allegiance and forced prayer from schools is a noble cause, and it is vitally important that someone fight for this, but this woman seemed so petty and childish. Being so confrontational and fostering a "them and us" mentality wont help anything. Extremism on one side will just encourage more extremism on the other and things will just escalate with each side blind to the fact their actions merely confirm the biases of their opponents. This is my problem with the bus add too. The "Now stop worrying and get on with your life" part way too authoritarian and will only piss off religious/agnostic folks drawing more lines between us.

The left hand is missing a ring if that helps.

Did anyone see this? EDIT: Norfolk'n'Clue beat me to it. I don't understand why the olympics needs a new logo every time anyway, what's wrong with just having the five rings?

Sweet, for some reason I'd got it into my head that there was some bullshit cliff hanger ending with no closure. No idea why I thought that.

Idle Thumbs UK 2: Conversation Killer
SignorSuperdouche replied to Marek's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Agreed. Spaff's and Marek's voices sound too, uh, deep and manly on their own. I have no interest in playing MMOs or Pokemon but you folks kept me interested and, more importantly, listening the whole time so I'd say you did a pretty good job. Also, I'd like to hear a whole episode from the pub sometime. -
Just like with the cartoon theme songs, all I can think about is someone in a studio having to sing that to pay their rent.

Is it the concept itself you find boring or is it just the execution?

Man that looks tasty My Nan lives in by one of the River Cottage places and the food there is excellent. It's rather expensive and the portions were niggardly though.

Hello other new people On the subject of the hateful nature of the Thumbs community, I'd point out that in the albeit short time I've been here everyone has been very amiable and pleasant.

There's a bit where you have to kick a wall in exactly the right place that drove me nuts. The combat is also extremely frustrating and completely down to chance - and your chance of winning is about 1 in 20. Other than that this game this game's Freakin' Sweet Quotient is about what you'd expect from Tim Schafer.

A) Your mum is awesome. This sounds like the set up for one of those live action Disney films. C) Your mum is still awesome.
