  1. New gaming podcast: Hatchet Job Show

I've listened to a few of the podcasts with more interesting sounding topics and it looks pretty promising. I'll certainly be keeping tabs Hatchet Job to see if I get sucked into it. I'd have to say that this Arun Mehta chap caught my eye more though. I happen to be really into human computer interaction, but even if you're not you should check out this video of some of his work in action. Fascinating stuff.
  2. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Wow, reading that again I have no idea how I missed the sarcasm
  3. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Whilst I could be totally wrong, I don't think it's ridiculous. I mean who's to say if the designer's said "hey let's do a trilogy" first and built a story around that or if they came up with a story which clearly had three acts so they said "we can make that a trilogy".
  4. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

I think what's probably more likely is that someone said "no wait, lets make this a trilogy." an so the writers had to beef up the first act to make it stand as a story on it's own (At least they didn't just stop with nothing resolved). There are hints at a big conspiracy, although it seems just as boilerplate as the rest of the plot. I should make clear though that the game is still loads of fun and definitely worth getting.
  5. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

That is exactly what I thought the game would be, but sadly they took the hackneyed, cliché laden route when it came to the story. The transportation of information aspect is completely ignored in favour of Overall I'd say "hopelessly banal and generic" was a spot on observation, the characters couldn't have had any less depth without being a cop with two weeks till retirement.
  6. That was a good listen. I loved the biscuit part "Oh wait that's a custard cream! Sweet" "Oh you son of a bitch." I had a peek over at Plain Sight website and it does indeed look like a lot of fun. They have a sweet Louis Armstrong track on their trailer too, which is a big pile of awesome. Sadly though I don't own a 360 nor do I run Windows so I'll have to give this on a miss. Machinarium also looks like it'll be a blast. I remember playing the Samorost games a while ago and, although the gameplay was pretty bland, I was impressed by the strange fantasy world that was created. The art work was beautiful, kind of like The Clangers, if you ever saw that, but with a surreal industrialist influence. Actually it was nothing like that but I can't describe it any better.
  7. Idle Thumbs 7: Stop Doing Interviews

On the subject of how you pronounce solder: I have never heard anyone not pronounce the L before, but looking into it (by which I mean I quickly looked at the wikipedia entry) the word comes from the Middle English word soudur so I guess I was wrong too. Anyhow, that Illbleed trailer is awesome. It's like what I imagine people who don't know about video games imagine video game trailers to be like. As if life decided that imitating art was passe and imitated ignorant sterotypes instead just to mess with people.
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

If I might weigh in on Quantum of Solace ever so briefly, I thought it was a lot of fun and pretty much agree with what Nachimir, and I suppose by extension Rodi, said. To add to that though I'd say I thought the whole thing felt rather rushed and sloppy. The action sequences had little to no build up, they just sort of start out of nowhere then. just as sharply, they stop and cut away to something completely different. I found this all rather jarring, like there were two films that have been cut together. I would also suggest that people avoid seeing this in the cinema, or at least time it so that they skip all of the adverts. There are several ads for the James Bond™ watch and the James Bond™ phone etc that run before the film. This is fine but for the fact that they all show different clips from the film which, and this is the annoying part, show the climaxes from many of the action sequences. This sucked my enjoyment out the action because you not only know that Bond will win the fight, you now exactly how he does it before the film even starts.
  9. New people: Read this, say hi.

Wait, it was Señor? Damn, that's embarrassing. On my first day and everything. Good job I wont be constantly reminded of this every time I post.

Hey folks, I've been enjoying the new podcast so I thought I'd sign up and say hi. So hi then I guess.
