  1. Happy Birthday Rodi!

Happy birthday chap, many happy returns etc.
  2. Open Source (Free) Gaming

Judith and Mirror Stage are both brilliant games, I had no idea they were by the same guy. I'll have to check out his other stuff.
  3. Brütal Legend overload...!

For what it's worth I played the Xbox version and I found the Meat Circus to be infuriating. Just thinking about that spiral of flaming net is making tense even now.
  4. Open Source (Free) Gaming

Oh yeah, there's also Yo Frankie!. It's really more of a tech demo than an actual game, but it's worth playing just to see. c7RRaEvWqJc
  5. Open Source (Free) Gaming

These seem to be mostly free as in beer rather than speech. I haven't come across many good FOSS games, but I did enjoy playing through Neverball a while back. It's a Super Monkey Ball clone and as such it doesn't offer anything particularly new exciting, but what it does it does well.
  6. Tales of Monkey Island

I did think it was a little odd to be launching a promotional LEGO set now rather than at release.
  7. Tales of Monkey Island

If you look at the box you'll notice the LEGO set is a MI:SE tie in.
  8. Life

That's an incredible gesture of human kindness Kroms. The situation is so alien to me I can't even comprehend it. Once again I'm lost for words, I have no idea how to react to that at all.
  9. Mata Hari

This really fucking riles me about modern adventure games. It seems that in every one you have to scribble ontop of a pad of paper to reveal what was on the previous piece, or there's a 6 that's upsidedown so it looks like a 9 or some other bullshit where you're not solving a puzzle you're just roting off a stock solution. You wouldn't get that bollocks in DOTT
  10. Ebony Marshall - Zombie Pirate

It's funny you say that because that genuinely is what went through my mind as I read your post. It was known that there was an intern at Bad Brain (I think a blogger went on a tour of the office ... or something) and I honestly had wondered who this intern was and what they did. I had this fantasy that there was basically Keirdorf at one end of the room doing his internet craziness at the other end there was this intern making the game all on his own like a slave.
  11. Life

Well just to add something positive to the thread, I'm going on a date tomorrow for the first time in about five years. My love life just stopped existing in my late teens for some reason so it's a good feeling to have it suddenly resuscitated. I'm almost certain she's not a psycho either, which is nice.
  12. Mata Hari

It's allegedly by Noah Falstein and Hal Barwood, but their level of involvement has never been clear. I get the impression that the developers have been talking up their input in order to generate sales.
  13. Ebony Marshall - Zombie Pirate

Wait, you were Bad Brain's intern? Wow! I'd love to hear what was actually going on over there. Keirdorf always came across as well intentioned but painfully clueless on how to conduct business and PR. Anyway, Ebony Marshall looks ridiculously professional for a home made demo. I had trouble but other than that it was excellent. I'd be well up for the full game if it ever gets made.
  14. Idle Thumbs 36: Shambling, Goofy

Beneath a SteelSky was pretty sweet, and it's avaliable as a free download these days. Also, Grim Fandango is the finest game I have ever played despite its flaws. It made me sad to finish because I didn't want to leave the characters behind.
  15. Shadow Complex!

Why does everyone hate turrets? I find them quite fun.
  16. Point-and-Click Adventure Games, Today.

I wouldn't say I like Sokal, but I found the world that Syberia was set in really interesting. Shame about the story, characters, puzzles, script, acting and just about everything else. Actually I seem to remember thinking the music was good, although that may have been another game.
  17. Tales of Monkey Island

This is the Tales of Monkey Island thread, if anyone should be making a separate thread it's the people talking about Monkey Island 2 There was a lot to love in Tales. There was an ineffable Monkey Island feel to the game that I thought had been lost to my youth. I cannot express my gratitude to Telltale enough for recapturing the sensation of playing SOMI for the first time as an 11 year old boy. I can't say what mix of elements provoked this reaction in me (the music is certainly high on the list) but I suspect voodoo may have been involved. The menus and environments were lush and whooshing out into the map view was one of the most awesome game experiences I've had this year. It seems I'm the odd one out here, but I also enjoyed controlling Guybrush with a mouse for the most part. I use a tracker ball though, which is similar to an analogue stick in some ways, so maybe that makes the difference. On the down side, I found plenty of bugs, mostly to do with dialogue, and I have to agree with the complaints regarding the inventory. These are just quibbles really and didn't affect my enjoyment of the game much at all. Bigger problems were that many of the puzzle solutions were more WTF? than AHA! and I found myself using trial and error instead reason on a couple of occasions ( ). Overall I'm fairly positive about this episode and I can't wait to see where Telltale takes me next.
  18. 'Time Gentlemen, Please!' from Size Five Games

Man I was stuck there for ages. Look for
  19. Idle Thumbs 33: Where's the Goddamn Thread?

I'm confused, was The Kane of Lynch the new Indy game?
  20. They're called *Video Games*

Well they would say that, wouldn't they?
  21. New "old-school" LucasArts game announced tomorrow

That's all true but BSD is undeniably more business friendly.
  22. The king is dead!

In lieu of having something funny to say myself, here's a funny thing someone else did:
  23. New "old-school" LucasArts game announced tomorrow

It freaks me the fuck out that people who were born in the 90's aren't still in primary school. You can't be adults yet, you just can't be!
  24. New "old-school" LucasArts game announced tomorrow

What? If you already have the games then by all means play them. If you don't now they're avaliabe to buy again. What exactly do you have a problem with? Anyway, The Dig is a really odd choice, I was under the impression that it was one of the least liked LA adventures. Am I wrong on that? Loom is the cat's pajamas though. It would be so sweet if they released the FM Towns version.
  25. Thanks Lama, that was really interesting. Chris Crawford is a really interesting guy with interesting ideas but he constantly rubs everyone up the wrong way. I feel kind of sorry for him, but he brings it on himself.
