Any motorcycle riders out there (I know there are a couple) that want to talk about bikes? Squid Division and I are gearing up for a week up through eastern Canada. I can't wait.

Ooooooooo Deathscythe -
So this thread is just Jayhawk worship... as it should be. The key was to got to the semi-sketchy Mexican bars and get GIANT margaritas. All the frat boys were scared of the Mexican bartenders so we got right up to the bar!

YOU FUCKING STOLE THAT FROM ME! -
Met my wife in Hash Hall on KU's campus. Still have a house just outside of town. I'll never forget being downtown when we won the title, it was like a happy, drunken army.

BTW, Atebit's tiny house is, I think, my favorite build on the server so far. -

Just in case anybody is waiting on white listings, Squid's not ignoring you, he's just busy (lazy) trying to adjust to his new hipster lifestyle in Seattle. -
You are an idiot.

So, rumor has it that Honda is getting ready to drop a new CBR300R for 2014. If I can find one in the Repsol colors I will have an extremely hard time not getting one. You know, for the wife...

Oh hello. I can't figure out why naked bikes aren't more popular in the US. I guess guys that go out and spend 20k on a sport bike or Harley that they never ride don't really care about practicality, but I'd rather ride a naked bike every day than something covered in plastic. Oh, btw, check THIS out! What a difference a couple of weeks make.

We are slipping. Thought I'd post some photos of my ride from a week ago. This ride beat me up, but it was still a blast.

Sam & Max Hit the Road's attractions are real?
The Killstar replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Man you and I both. Our family trip was to go from Wichita, Kansas to Syracuse, Kansas. Still, besides the bigotry, religious zealotry, and general close-mindedness, I do love the Mid-West. -
If you actually want to make money, go start taking classes at a technical school, welding, plumbing, or other hands-on real world related schooling. Nobody does this sort of work anymore, and people's wiring or plumbing will always need repairing. You won't be crippled with student loan debt, and you'll make more money out of the gate than you would with a graduate degree. One of the garage door installers I talked to yesterday said he took him 2600 bucks last week. I still, to this day, wish I had gone to motorcycle maintenance school. Give me a dirty, sweaty shop over an office any day. (incidentally, you could buy a motorcycle. That will make all your problems go away.)

That vid has really been making the rounds, and I am totally jealous. Here's another couple, for the adventure riders out there! http://youtu.be/_5cung076Jw

These have gotten pretty good reviews and are pretty protective. But... I can't get enough of the Icon 1000 Line

Here's my current project. I hope to have a long range solar sailor soon, but this is my functioning orbiter.

I'm riding from my new home in Austin, TX, to my old home in Lawrence, KS. Its the least motorcycle of any of my motorcycle trips, as I will mostly be lounging by the pool for a week, with a couple of mad 800 mile dashes to bookend it. Should be fun though. As for the gloves question, I definitely feel that disconnect with textile gloves. I swear by good leather though. I always buy my gloves a size too small, so that they stretch and become a second skin. It helps if you ride in the rain once or twice when they are still new. Right now, I'm trying to break in a pair of these guys (below). They're a good mix of protection and ventilation.

I am trying very hard to NOT buy a pair of these, but I'm not doing a very good job. And my birthday is in a month, and since my dog got a bit sick, my savings went away, sooooo, might as well spend what I got, yeah?

Anybody talk about their gear yet? I have way too much, but in my search for one set of gear that does everything, I think I've realized that there isn't one set of gear that does everything. Unless you're willing to shell out for a Roadcrafter I guess. This is what I am currently planning to use for my mini trip in July. Shoei Qwest fitted with a Sena SMH10 headset (priceless piece of equipment) Triumph jacket with Knox armor Dianese Air Drake pants Rev'It Comet gloves Bates paratrooper boots

I need to get my Tumblr going. Maybe this week's One Motorcycle Show would be a good first post.

HAHA that is amazing. My worst was when I was hit in the neck by a big ass locust. I thought I was bleeding, but didn't see anything in my mirror so kept going. Then about 20 miles later I felt something scratching me, so I looked again and the fucking locust was stuck to my neck! I damn near ditched it trying to get the bastard off my neck. I don't know how it managed to find the one part of me not covered in leather, helmet, or bandana.

The One Motorcycle Show is in a couple of weeks here in Austin, and I tried to get into the Bell helmet art project but was rejected for not having a portfolio. Too bad, my first helmet was a Bell. I think it would go over pretty well!
