  1. Idle Thumbs 22: Put On the Top Ghost

Great episode. I don't know if you're aware, but Neil Young currently did an interview with John Davison for the What They Play podcast. No tears in the works, just more Rolando sequels. Let's see what the countdown to tears presents. Secondly, speaking about bugs in referrance to the Total War series, I installed Shogun Total War recently. Suffered the same end turn bug Nick did. It's rather sad this bug has lasted through several iterations. Finally, on previous episodes, there was a running joke about what went through Gordon Freedman's mind in different scenarios. There's a machinama based around that concept called Freedman's Mind. It's rather interesting.
  2. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

The obligatory youtube video. If you make it to the end without chuckling, well, you're a great human being. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFArQ6Ly5QE&feature=related
  3. Are Game Reviewers Too Kind to AAA Games?

GrouchoClub ""Move over, God. this game makes you look like a joke." (IGN.com)" I feel certain games have fallen by the way side pretty much due to the hype machine/ review system that gaming media covers game. I am surprised how schizophrenic reviewers, and enthusiasts, and gamers in general become towards games a month after the game is released. Gamers especially act as if a game is Christ incarnated just based on IGN pull quotes and what Stu down at gamestop said as he was upselling his purchase to include a preorder. It's somewhat tragic how many websites and magazine dedicate space to games Gears and Killzone coverage. Only to be followed up by "Games are art, really, though we only feature sequels and top ten video game babes. Games are art."
  4. I feel you make a lot of sense, though I am personality surprised you beat the game stoned. I, a man who doesn't illicit substance, spent 4 hours on the last boss. Mainly dealing with his hands of doom. I was intensely touched when I was struggling to reach the girl. I mean I was bashing intensely. It took me a minute to realize that it was worthless when I was hanging over the void. Though I feel that the game invokes a sense of emotional response, in the sense of guilt when killing, because most of the bosses really are just frollicking in the woods and you were basically Gordon Freedman's protege and killing innocent creatures without any sense of reason outside of an ominous voice telling you. Though I would say, that one boss who *spoiler* way to get to him was by making him go over a guyser. Had me have a sociopathic moment of going "aww" as he tried to balance himself and then my racing to attack him.
  5. I've personally been documented crying while unwrapping my present to find a Nintendo 64 console. But on a more serious note, I was somewhat touched in the indie game The Passage essentially because having played it around my birthday, one gets the mantra of "One year closer to death". It made me ponder on my choices and the effects of that. I would also say another moment that in Silent Hill 2 the relationship James had towards Mary really put into perspective some of that problems I was having with my then relationship. Though, when looked at from an outsider's perspective, one could say I'm horribly reaching for an emotional outlet. Great episode.

  7. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth [Old game playthrough]

I tried playing CoC back in February. I had a really hard time with it. Mainly because I kept getting motion sick. I remember having a bag of crackers and looking away everytime a cutscene came to try and reduce my motion sick got bad. Was I the only one that suffered motion sickness through that game?
  8. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq8ZnQ95cKk After talking to a british friend of mine, she sent me in the right direction with this clip. Thought it was rather clever comedy.
  9. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi Visited the forum, after listening to podcast regularly. I was surprised at how much entertaining a forum could be. I don't plan on saying much as I doubt I have much to offer. But otherwise, great job everybody at making a great forum community.
