Started reading Akira and I'm half way through the second volume, why did I wait so long?

Mid is (very rarely) the lane of the carry. It's the most gankable lane as the enemy can come from anywhere, meaning that it's not ideal to play a hard carry there. The Carry is usually placed in the safe lane as you can control the lane easier there with pulling, stacking and so-forth. As a mid player I would say that there are a few things to do. 1) Beat the other midlaner (If this is not possible then don't let them get out of control and don't lose your lane) 2) Keep rune control if applicable (Invoker, OD and a few others don't care as much about these so it's less important) 3) Influence the other lanes, if you are able to get the carry space or an early kill the whole game will be easier for you in total. Again this is not set in stone as there are definite exceptions such as dual mids and so forth as the meta game of Dota is so dynamic. I would not take a new player to mid first simply because it is the most dangerous lane to play in.

I'm really bad at finishing games and have only finished: DMC The best action game I've played this year, it exudes so much style, the soundtrack is fantastic from both Combichrist and Noisia. Dota is the best competitive game that is currently available and the most interesting. Valve's approach to tournaments too is great, despite the lack of communication on their end the product is very solid.

Indeed, play the tutorial map then give me a shout and I'll happily coach a few games, I'm curious how it works too.

I'm gonna throw that I'm super weird and do/watch various juggling disciplines. Particularly: Staff (I have a 1.6m 1 kilo contact fire staff I nearly killed myself with) Diabolo (2 V2 finesses, 1 tornado, 1 Vision, a few others over the year) Devil/flowerstick (2 Lunastix Wizards)

I've met (well gotten to know after having met a year or so ago) a really cute Norwegian girl who likes a lot of the same metal as me, though she really doesn't appreciate my love of pop punk , not a gamer though. The awkward part is that another girl has been emailing me for a week or so who I'm pretty sure likes me, but I'm not that interested. I guess working out more in the past year has made a decent impact on not only my strength and well being it's also helped with the ladies .

I've gotten back into Warhammer 40k this year and my housemate also plays. We've been building a table top for this (and X Wing Miniatures). We (Me) have decides to go with a black base of 3 2x4' pieces of MDF which have been primed with Plastikote black. I've bought 4kg of black sand used reptile tanks as the base. It looks pretty good on 1/3 that has been fully surfaced. For hills and so forth we are getting some high density foam and modelling it with the same surface. We played for the first time on it on Saturday (I won losing about 6 of my Grey Knight Purifiers). I might paint the parts with missing sand red as the surface looks quite volcanic.
