And also, here's another cool blog which is more specifically about illustration and cartooning: DRAWN

Wow - I'd forgotten about City of Metronome, as it was so long ago that I'd heard about it. Man I would love to get my hands on that. Same team that did Rag Doll Kung-Fu, weirdly enough.

Are you referring to THIS? Never played it, but I've heard people say it was basically a Steampunk Fallout. From what I've seen of both games, there seems to be quite a few similarities.

HIGH-DEF TRAILER A SECOND, LESS EXCITING BUT STILL KINDA COOL TRAILER

Good luck with that! Austin is kind of turning into Dallas w/ all the Condos & high-end mixed use complexes etc..., but it's still a great place to live.

TNV are good! I've seen them live a couple times. Speaking of painfully lofi, are you into Wavves at all? Hit or miss for me, but there's a couple gems on their new LP on Fat Possum. Also, I'm guessing you're familiar with Thee Oh Sees - do you like them? They're really fucking great - super catchy, lofi(ish) psych/garage with haunting male/female vocal harmonies. "The Masters Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In" will forever be in my all-time top 20 albums. My wife and I are going to see Explosions in the Sky on the 4th of July, outdoors (just got the tickets today). How perfect is that shit??? -
I've heard about the ginger tablets helping with seasickness (proven on Mythbusters even, if I recall correctly). I might have to try that. Then I'll just have to wrap my head around this WASD bullshit. Yeesh!

Cool! How's the humidity treating you? There's a couple interactive guys at my agency have strong chops in both disciplines - but yeah, you're a rare creature for sure.

Hey miffy... Check out this crazy/awesome NASA video. If cartoon sex & violence is not cool where you work, then consider this NSFW: http://www.boingboing.net/2009/06/09/bb-video-a-volta-fro.html Holy shit this is great!!! -
It appears I was wrong in my first post: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/iPhone+3G+S/feature.asp?c=13757

I BEEN PWNED!!! LAWLZ! I thought you high post count people were supposed to be funny and/or clever.

I'll take your word for it that graphics for games created for all iPhones/iPod touches will look better on the new iPhones.
-
Thanks for the tip Mr. Hilarious! What's the command line code for that one?
-
Yeah, you can change the field of view to 90 in the console - but I don't really notice any difference. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I was so fucking excited to play Zeno Clash because I adore the art direction - I pre-purchased it on Steam. Ugh!

Could this be the awesomest review of Terminator Salvation ever? I think yes.

Since my initial "hello" was pretty weak, I felt the urge to introduce myself properly. I'm a 38 year old Production Artist living in Austin, Texas. I'm here because of the podcast, naturally - meaning I came in search of intelligent discussion and fart jokes. I'm married, and my wife and I are in a punk rock band called the Hex Dispensers. She's not a gamer by any means (outside of Wii fit, Wii bowling, or iPhone word games), but very tolerant of my ridiculous obsession with this bullshit. My gamer type is most definitely the escapist/explorer, and I'm drawn first and foremost to games with compelling visual design. I lean towards dark sci-fi/fantasy, but anything with an interesting aesthetic style will grab my interest. To a small degree, I'll put up with repetitive or broken gameplay just to see the next environments or creature designs if they really excite me. That said, a little bit of challenge is nice - but I've no patience for extreme difficulty. Also - in general, I prefer killing monsters/mutants/zombies/robots to killing real people, but it really depends on the game. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600, but kind of skipped the NES era (aside from a couple PC games on a roomates machine), and became a hardcore enthusiast around the end of the SNES/Genesis era and haven't let up since. I own all the current systems (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, DS, iPhone, PC) - because I'm so fucking picky about what I play I don't want to miss anything that looks good. My current backlog/in progress list: Fallout 3 (I wish I could quit you!), Valkyria Chronicles, Titan Quest, Folklore, MadWorld, Freedom Force, the Last Express, Dawn of War, Zeno Clash (if I could just get past the first area without puking), Silent Hill Homecoming, World of Goo, Soul Calibur 4 and some iPhone games (mostly Peggle, Edge, iDracula, and Zenonia).

Last.fm suits me because it seems to have a good amount of the modern punk rock & garagepunk stuff that I like - but as I can't get at Spotify, I have no basis for comparison. -
That was fun! Anyhoo... My weird compulsion to post a thread on an internet message board about a man I have never met, was because of some E3 smack-talk he did. Thing is, I feel no real reason to defend Bayonetta (I'll probably rent it) other than thinking it has about a kajillion times more style than anything this guy has ever touched. I get that the hardcorz love Ninja Gaiden for it's punishing difficulty, which I admit is not my bag - but I just think this guy's stuff is so ugly and generic looking. And also, dude looks like a lady.

"I can't stop farting. 10/10" -IGN.com "You will want to suffer some kind of work-related injury so that you can stay home all day and play this game. It's THAT good!" -IGN.com "Food will taste better and colors will be more vibrant after having experienced this game. Puppy Hotel is absolute masterpiece!!! 1,000/10" -IGN.com

It's mostly called "post-rock" everywhere, but I really hate that tag, as it's so vague. Crescendo-core seems to be gaining momentum - and while it kind of does the opposite, by oversimplifying things - I think it sounds pretty fucking cool. Spotify isn't available in North America, but we've got similar stuff like Rhapsody, last.fm, Pandora... Actually - on a techincal level, those are all quite different, but you catch my drift I'm sure... -
Well, they're all dead. But other than that I'm doing fantastic!!!

Jeff Bell!!!! How's the new job treatin' ya?

In general. And also: 1) His games. More specifically—his generic, 12-year old boy aesthetic sensibilities. 2) His hard-rock, "bad boy" persona. 3) The feeble shit talking he does that seems to blow so many minds wide open.
