Heh heh. I'm just praying his administration can pull off all the stuff they want to or have promised, or I fear we're gonna swing back the other direction a lot harder than you guys just did.

So, WWDC just ended. Kind of a dud for me personally. I was really hoping they'd announce some kind of Bluetooth d-pad, or a Bluetooth case that the phone snaps into with a d-pad and buttons. I realize a 3rd party can make one, but if Apple did it - more app devs would be inclined to support it right away. Also, the rumored 3-D graphics upgrade in the new iPhone was a no-show. And also also - what the fuck is up with no flash support? I mean I get why they're scared of it - but c'mon, they're going to have to cave in at some point. I want hulu on my phone! Oh well, 3.0 OS looks pretty good otherwise.

Oh the irony.... The U.S.A. finally wiggles ever so slightly to the left, and Europe responds by moving to the right. What a weird fucking world we live in.

That's a big overlap actually. I listen to a lot of crescendo-core. If you're not familiar with Explosions in the Sky (although I suspect you already might be) - I think they're incredible and well worth your time. I was just listening to the new Mogwai yesterday. It's good, but I think Mr. Beast is an extremely tough act to follow. -
Up looks great! I've heard it gets pretty melancholy, which only adds to my interest (as if just being a Pixar movie wasn't reason enough). I think my wife and I are gonna try and catch it this weekend in 3-D. I hope the glasses are 1) disposable or 2) somehow sterilized - because if not, then eeew.

I really can't stomach most McG/Michael Bay/Bruckheimer BIG-DUMB-LOUD Hollywood spectacle movies.

Thanks for clearing that up.

The King Khan and BBQ Show records on Goner and In the Red are both super kickass, with the Goner one being my personal favorite - as it has both of them doing some of my favorite BBQ songs (like Waddlin' Around)... I'll look into that NASA stuff - not familiar with it, but it sounds cool. I can see the Santogold fatigue for sure - now that I hear some of those songs on car commercials, etc... What I've seen of the live show (on Youtube & on TV) doesn't do much for me - kinda cheesy actually. But that album is a pretty awesome mix of Missing Persons & Siouxsie (outright stole "Red Light" for "Superman"). Plus all the cool lo-fi production stuff & glitchy M.I.A. dub/dancehall shenanigans. Great pop hooks all over that thing. -
The same applies (if not more so) to Chocolate, the Protector, and I'll go ahead and assume to Ong Bak 2 as well. Still, total fucking marital arts & crazy stunts eye candy!

Looking forward to trying: guano, hermaphrodite, Allah, Zubaz, yiff, goatse, Krampus, Ronald Reagan, photon, stripper, ouija board, Rat Fink, abortion, Salvador Dali, ectoplasm, beatnik, and iron lung. And with Paul Robertson involved, some of those might actually happen!

Activision sues to stop release of Brutal Legend

I'd offer to boycott Craptivision - but to do so would imply they had something for sale that I wanted but forced myself not to buy. -
True.

Approval noted. Please be gentle to my undead bretheren - they know not what they do. I really, really wish I wasn't so prone to FPS motion sickness (or "simulation sickness" if you wanna get all technical & shit) - because L4D looks like my cup o' tea and then some. Seems like all Source Engine games have it in for me sadly (although I somehow managed to make it through Portal without puking). So, yeah - have fun killing those fuckers! I wish I could too... -
I was kinda blah about the creature in the leaked trailer (too much sweetness, not enough darkness), but after seeing the extended E3 cut (with it's own music as well), I'm feeling pretty good about it. I think Shadow of the Colossus is the Empire Strikes Back of the series, tone-wise so it'll prolly remain my favorite, but it's safe to say that for me the gameplay will be compelling - and I already know I enjoy spending time in that world.

Yes this is David Simon... yes, that's me right next to him!

Wowzerz - I like a lot of different types of music (Punk rock, oldschool hardcore, 60s soul, 70s funk, Delta Blues, Crescendo-core, Indie, 80s New Wave, underground-ish hip hop) but aside from mentions of Nick Cave and Einsturzende Neubauten, and the Hives, I don't have much overlap with anyone here. Lately I am listening to: Thee Oh Sees, Jay Reatard, GraveDiggaz, The Death Set, Ty Segall, Chad Vangaalen, Santogold, Gentleman Jesse and His Men, the Horrors, Fucked Up, Cloak/Dagger, Davila 666, Explosions In the Sky (who I always listen to, because they are the BEST!), Mogwai, Ladytron, Matson Jones, Black Heart Procession, Dan Sartain, the Marked Men and Sonic Chicken 4. The Ramones, the Rolling Stones, and the Stooges make mandatory appearances on a somewhat regular basis as well. -
I just saw Drag Me to Hell last weekend & fucking LOVED it. If you love Evil Dead 2 like I do, you'll totally dig it. It's also got some great Haunted Mansion-esque spookhouse stuff for added aesthetic value. Also saw Star Trek last weekend, and although I've never given two shits about anything Star Trek (aside from fond childhood memories of the original TV series), I really really enjoyed it. I'm not a JJ Abrams fan either. It's just a whole lot of fun to watch. And for good measure, here's some Netflix Watch Now recommendations: Let the Right One In (!!!), Day Watch, Crumb, Ong Bak, The Host, Mimic, Ninja Scroll, The Orphanage, Timecrimes, Shiver, Unbreakable, a Very Long Engagement - just for shits & giggles.

I agree 100% with this statement. Season four was just incredible.

Although I didn't care for the game at all, I thought the main menu for the Darkness was a thing of beauty. The way the tentacles would spasm and the drop shadows on the type would move with them was pretty inspired.

Dear Internet, E3 was really cool this year. My personal award for game I'd never heard of that once teased I can't stop thinking about now is "Edge of Twilight" - although the game's title has 2 things about it that will no doubt lead to litigation of some sort, and "of " is not one of them. And also: Fallout 3 DLC, Uncharted 2, Darksiders, The Last Guardian, Shadow Complex, Zombie Apocalypse, Ju-On the Grudge, God of War 3, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Crackdown 2, Scribblenauts, Mass Effect 2, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Brutal Legend, Heavy Rain, Fragile, Dragon Age: Origins, Bayonetta, and Batman: Arkham Asylum all seem pretty cool too. Have a great summer! xoxo, -zomboid

Sounds fun! But I sold GTA a while back (after never having even tried mutiplayer, doh!). Just not my thing. I bet goofing off with a crowd of smartasses would make it worthwhile - but I just can't get into GTA once the thrill of exploration has worn off. I really dig Horde Mode on Gears of War 2 though - so if anybody slums it in macholand from time to time - hit me up! -
I love when people on GAF call it "Mass Erect". So true! I love love LOVED Mass Effect. I'm glad they left the strategy wheel pretty much intact. Looks like they even improved upon it (ammo types!). Once I figured out that you can look in all directions (and adjust your aim) with time frozen still - I felt like the biggest fucking badass in the universe.
