Yeah I already lost. My home planet will be overrun within 5 hours. Guess my plan didn't work, the flaw was assuming he had his fleet somewhere else and not just spread out everywhere. The game needs spys/scouts, hehe. My situation was basically like your map only upside down and I was the dark red guys. I wonder if map placement(on the edge/corners) has a lot of help in the matter, because the two corner guys are the super power in my game as well. Also, I relinquished all tech, funds, and opened up some stars for my nonagression pact buddy since he will get sandwitched soon; might as well help him out. edit: Oh and I need to point this out too as its kind of weird. But I could have probably have survived a bit longer if I woke up at 3am to create some fleets and move them around, but I didn't. I did notice the guy that is about to take over was moving around all day, but then he attacked during the night as well... did this guy sleep or what?

Yeah I started one last week but didn't finish it, I seriously need an option to save for hardcore mode, lol. I don't want to too my own horn, but I think I may have mastered this game against ai. I'm unbeatable with at least two ships so far. Pretty awesome to see since penguins were kicking my ass left and right before. There is a possibility that the game became easier in the updates though and I'm not a huge fan of smite, so I'll try not to use it.

AH, I'll use this thread to babel about my experiences. So I'm wedged between a super goliath that will most likely win the game(if this is anything like all rts, where when you control the most resources you'll probably win) and a pretty big player(though over the course of this week he now has trouble below him with a rising empire) So I'm screwed right? Nope. Turns out it's too expensive to go through me and theres only a small strip on which they can fight each other, so I'm getting letters about neutrality from both of them. It could be a ruse and they will actually be allies or not... but the big guy could easily crush me if he gets any more space, so I think I'll side with the underdog and suicide into goliath territory to make him weak enough for the guy below me to finish the job.

Ok, that's cool El muerte. Not sure if it's totally for me, but I just like space, so it'll be interesting to get a long game going between friends. So JamesM, your up after all. Roger Ebert rehashes old debate even indie hipsters are tired of
Murdoc replied to Forbin's topic in Video Gaming
I've never considered the question "what is classified as art" as a debate, it's more akin to an argument. Debates usually are based on factual examples and reference that conclude in a resolution of some sort(eventually). Arguments are where opinion is king and resolutions won't be found, ever. -
Maybe I'm confused but you weren't talking about a specific part of the game, but rather it's core mechanics not being good. Maybe re-read your post or maybe I have an odd sense of humor, but you seemed to dump on the core mechanics pretty heavily, even when giving it a compliment.

Looks like we're running over full capacity depending on the maybies; so I guess first come first serve? Or any other method people prefer. I'm just keeping a list for organization purposes, I guess it's Joflar's call.' If we can get a com on those three and Jo just needs to guide us on what we need to do to join, we're close to being ready (I guess?) edit: I don't think there is a way for spectators, but it'd be really neat if the events it sends all players gets filtered for pertinent global events to read out like a galactic news report so the other thumbs knows what's going on in the galaxy. edit2: Oops, I was pretty sure you were on the list, toblix, sorry.

While I haven't been paying attention to every comment ever made, that has to be the first time a poster has described a point in the game where they are 60 hours into a game(third island, Im guessing of course unless your doing a speed run) but writes in length how shit it is, even if they liked the shit option. hilariously odd.

Blood Money had some of the best gun sounds and hit sounds on objects I've really ever noticed in a game. Hitman series was usually good for that, but that lobby room with the shooting gallery to hear all the guns and different surfaces hit was pretty amazing.
-
Yeah pretty much, I keep clicking dots but I'm loosing for some reason. Anyone have any tips on how to get better at clicking them? Wutsi; cool, I guess that answers the question that you can join more then one game at once, because a couple of those guys are in the game I'm in.
-
What galaxy is that in Wurtsi? (Sorry at work and cant log in, but those names seem familiar, but I dont recall noticing yours)
-
Yeah my reasoning too, Squid. Cool, Jo, if we continue this beyond your credits, I'll pick up the next rounds. Just make sure to call the custom galaxy some thumbs meme, hehehe.

If it makes you feel any better Groucho, I'm playing and from the sounds of things, I'm the anti-breckon. Really the only "strategy" type game I've had any luck, then mastery, with was Flotilla. My current free neptune game is not going so well. If no one objects, I offered to sponsor the first game (or more, who knows) in the episode thread, so if not one minds I'll go through with it. Should we go with a quick game to begin with or a long game? I'm all for learning, but personally like the idea of the long game. The list so far seems to be: Joflar Squid Division Wursti Sombre Jennoa dpp Murdoc *Groucho (needs a push) *Sully907 (needs the ability to log in first) **emuerte? (probably not, but he could have just been sarcrastic?) Would be really cool if we could get a full game going; say we wait a week? (Also gives time for people to sign up and much around in a free game)

I don't know who is telltales marketing department(1-2 people?) or the relationship with steam is, but just needed to comment that the "advertisment" images they have on Steam are really great. I noticed it a few weeks ago and was like 'Whoa what is this?" and it turning out to be Sam and Max is pretty awesome. I just want that bunny hat, but I'm not a follower of the game enough to purchase. Unless i can purchase it, get the hat, and give it as a gift; is that possible?

I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't employ the Bully melee fighting into GTA4; it was pretty good and more eleborate then what they have.

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 6: Shoveling Your Hat and Crow
Murdoc replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Neptunes Pride... Wheeling and dealing? I'm not doing this and about to get sandwitched between a goliath and a dude that is flying his entire 52 ship fleet around at once. This is probably why I'm about to be extinct. Anyone else trying the free game or interested? I'm thinking of taking Chris suggestion, buying some credits and starting up a private game. edit: Imperial 2030. You guys mentioned this before and it sounded awesome, really been meaning to try this. -
http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x?gallery=14423&game_id=7009&id=154752#img154764 Anyone know what the words about the names indicate? Pistol, Mercenary, Quickdraw, Frontiersmen, Colt, Deputized, El Captain are the ones spotted. They have different weapons even if they have the same word, different character models; load out, class? Not sure.

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63318 Looks like Marin isn't working on it... weird?

They probably were, but that was also ten years ago and while I remember specific incidents they two games have blended together for me, so I can't say which one I liked more. But from what I remember I did like Hitman 1 more, but that could just be because I remember my initial reaction more to something different.
-
I don't know anymore, for some reason I thought hitman 1 was silent assassin, lol. I think I mean hitman 1, but my memory has probably merged both those games into one that I really liked.
-
I dunno, I took it as the fat kid coming up to his plate of dinner, pointing at the bleachers and swiping his brothers porkchop... crafty chubby that one is.
-
Don't get me wrong, Blood Money is cool, but Silent Assassin just felt a little more open world simulation or something. The plot/missions weren't the best and the controls a bit rough; but it was their first game so many I am a little more forgiving. I dunno, just something about the map structure and the loose narrative seemed a little more interesting to me. And the physics/etc at the time were incredible for it; where as it wasn't so ground breaking in their other titles.
-
If they can get the strategy elements in a very subversive way into a first person game I think that would be pretty amazing.
-
Presentation and marketing so far has been top notch, almost worthy of giving the sequel a chance. But something about IO's games don't ever seem to gel with me. Hitman 1 was awesome and it's sort of been leveled off or went downhill since then... at least to me.
