  1. The threat of Big Dog

It's just so god damn majestic.:\
  2. So long Mythic?

Maybe? I suppose it depends on how it even happened, a back end system for that has to be complicated as shit. Was it a bug in the software or human intervention? Internally, I'd be freaking the hell out to figure out how and why it happened, then prevent it from happening again. Then you have the reimbursements to take care of, and on top of that the PR nightmare. It's going to go shitty either way.
  3. Ford makes the focus right? Surprised that make it's way in there.
  4. Red Dead Thumb

Problem solved: a 360 copy for Mp and a Ps3 copy for singleplayer.
  5. Red Dead Redemption

No, it's totally warranted for you to say those things; I keep hearing that but haven't actually tried MP on the ps3 yet, so it's good to know.
  6. I never understood the sensationalism around Marek, other then the name; could someone provide some history on this?
  7. Red Dead Thumb

Im starting tot hink there might be enough of us on the PS3; I'd love to give this a guy on my 360, but honestly I just cant bring myself to it, it's nearly dead and has no hdmi(I have an old one) which I've come to love from my ps3. Basically I'm on the fence.
  8. The threat of Big Dog

Someone needs to make a Cthulu style comic about a cult that worships bigdogs now.
  9. Actually I think Steves concern is warranted. You missed the part where they mentioned(though this is common knowledge, but it's a good point) that it doesn't take any money to write a book; that's why books won't go away (though when half the best sellers are adapting classic tales with zombies in them or about teenage vampires you may just wish they would) A finally crafted singleplayer that can be delivered a high level experience to todays standards won't become cheaper in ten years; even making a retro game ten years from now to be like GTA4 might be cheaper then what it cost to make GTA4(100+mil) but won't be cheap enough for the indy devs to do it and I doubt it ever will. So they may not go away, but if they become that weird niche market like flight sims(they're still play ms flight 200x) we're pretty much fucked. We've already seen in the last 10-12 years publishers unwillingness to commite to even new IP, they understandably go where the buck is, so while certain games may not completely go away, it would suck that something like this would be a rare occurance in a gaming year.
  10. Red Dead Redemption

Oh totally, sorry if it was a minor rant, because it was, and for all i know he could have gotten fired completely over this or on the far side he might just be saying that to get some attention for a new job. Anyway, the mp mechanics seem like an upped version of lost and the damned? But Im curious to know how lobbies work. Also, this gives me the sense the map feels a lot larger then GTA(slow modes of travel, not an entire urban area) so it'll be interesting to see how that works out when a few people are in the mexico zone and a few people are in the rockies; might be a pain to find people? I didn't play gta 4 mp enough, but was there a quick respawn near other people option if you died(or didn't)?
  11. Red Dead Redemption

What company doesn't actively push for publications to cover their game in a postive light? It's called marketing. Yeesh. Even the quote is hilarious; they asked "Can you please" . Sorry, but people don't get fired over stuff like that; maybe in australia, maybe the editor may have not stated it as nicely; but when someone asks "Can you please do something" thats not really pushing, that's a friendly request that is completely understandable coming from a PR department trying to sell a product. "It is understood McCasker had earlier received two official warnings about his behaviour." Behaviour is pretty ambigious; so the problem is obviously with him and the company. The way it was asked towards this particular journalist may have not been so nice or his reaction may have been grounds for dismissle; but that's completely a interneral problem at Zoo, not Rockstars fault or problem. You can blame Rockstar as a company for a lot of things, this isn't one of them and is totally ridiculous. Also, probably will end up getting it on the 360 since thats probably where the rest of the guys are playing GTA4 from... I just hate my noisy beast right now, hehe.
  12. Red Dead Redemption

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gameplay-series-red-dead/64250 Man, what system is everyone getting this for? I want to make sure Im around for the mp. Im really digging the ps3 lately, soo....
  13. The cast seems to be getting more weird... I also think Steve might have a secret agenda to break up the team and end the cast. Chris' description about Starcraft 2 really felt like TF2 as well. It's all about counters. On a 1 vs 1 level in TF it's about class vs class and also weapons vs weapon for each class; so a lot of it comes down to mechanics and being screwed or using the right strategy of having the proper load out. And when your in the zone you don't think and just do, but if your worried too much you hesitate and screw up. Can't mention how many times a team I'm on plays better because we're just chatting away, singing songs, or making jokes rather then focused on winning. Neptunes Pride is locked off at work so I can't play it... thanks shitty IT. It looks awesome though. edit: I agree with Steve about the stuff we like is slowly coming out of popularity. It's like the flight sim nerds I see now, they are still playing their games from 1999; I'm sure this will be me in ten years playing gta 4 and mass effect for the hundredth time. Actually, the guy next to me this morning lamented on why mass effect doesn't have co-op. I gave him a weird look because this never even occured to me and I'm not 100% sure if hes actually played mass effect because why would you say that, not to mention the idea of coop in the current shepherd storyline just wouldn't work with the type of game that is there. Also agree about the comments on co-op; though I personally hold the opinion that co-op makes a mediocre singleplayer experience to be ok and fun. But I suppose this was a narrow point of view; in reality with what the Idle Thumbs described is just that it's a good co-op game but because of it doesn't work as well as a singleplayer; but I just had an immediate reactiont hat it was coops fault for making this singleplayer game suck, when it's the other way around.
  14. iPad

Damn it, I just read the headline and thought immediately it dedicated radiation in the area, then thought how cool it would be if it had the sound from Half Life for that. Now that would be a sweet/useless app... I wonder if we could even do the death tone if my heart stopped...hmmm
  15. iPad

Rear camera, Teeheehee...oh theres a reason!
  16. iPad

Are you sure he wasn't just talking to Jake? Also according to the comparisons 5 hours(Slate) vs 10 hours(ipad) is a huge difference to me. Maybe maybe that ten hours on the ipad is ideal.
  17. iPad

Alright, I see what your saying. Ok guys, time to make my own, better ipad; now who has the glitter and fuzzy twist ties?!
  18. Dog Cone is the new Horse Armor

You get offended that a company makes a real gameplay benefit and charges for it? What's the difference between that and the actual game they made and charged for it?
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

If your a sherrif of a quiet little town; why not? I mean it's not overly nice, but it seems pretty reasonable to let a drifter know hes not welcome there, they could be just some poor guy down on his luck or a complete psycho with a giant knife. He could have been nicer about it and the stuff the other cops did wasn't too cool, but it was only after Rambo was acting like a dick and resisting an arrest. Considering Rambo had ample time to cool off and had an old friend as a voice of reason, but chose to ignore it and burn the town to the ground, the Sheriff was right not to want this guy in his town.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

First Blood (Rambo): Guess I never watched this... so yeah, rambo is a hobo, walks into town where a dick sheriff tells is him leave(seems reasonable) though he has an issue with the american flag on Rambos jacket(????) but then rambo acts like a total dick too. So anyway, it ends up that Rambo goes nuts and destroys the poor American town; why is he the good guy in this? First Blood 2: Thanks to James cameron this became your typical american military romp; as weird as the first one was, I think i liked it better. Eastern Promises: Kind of avoided this after I didn't really like history of violence, but all and all it was pretty decent. No real highs or lows and nothing over the top, so it was cool. Naked fighting is always awesome; i'm just wondering when a video game will have "realistic" fighting like this in it one day(doesn't have to be naked, but that would make it more awesome too) edit: donnie darko directors cut: yeah I had the unfortante pleasure of watching that once, did not like the transitions, music, etc... Also I guess the movie took place in the 80s? I never picked that up the first time, it seemed unimportant of a realization, but for some reason it seemed more wedged intot he directors cut.
  21. Life

That's hilarious, I'm from BC and currently in Montreal and the significant sign of age is weirding me out; I better not move to Europe then, lol. Yeah.... probably best to avoid hockey if your not a nut about it, assholes honking horns for 2 hours post game down robson street gets old in about ten minutes. Also, I haven't figured out why they go crackers over it and I grew up here.
  22. iPad

I'm just saying that would be an awesome marketing message, (and not to incite fanboy riots) something that may actually have come from Sony, is blaming the consumer for "not getting it"; it would be cool. But really, that's my point, this may be beyond marketing, but the fact the actual product isn't practical. I bought an iphone not because of the marketing or hype, but because it had a bunch of shit I wanted and needed. The ipad should, in theory, have a ton of stuff I want and need but it doesn't. Again, this thread is a testament to what people think it should do and that it doesn't. The theory that it's something else is all well and good, because it could just be that, but that something else right now sort of sucks and personally don't think we need that other thing until I/we get the stuff we wanted out of it in the first place.
  23. iPad

So its because its a totally new thing that is creating the confusion towards consumers because it's a new market? That's quite possibly the best crazy statement that would come from marketing I ever heard; it's our fault that their product doesn't have any outstanding features that people would want from a device of that size, it's totally not the fact it just might be a redundant useless product.* Oh and I mean if your twitter feed has been positive, I think that's a massive win for Apple right there. (Has anyone checked if Hermie is a bot or viral marketer yet?) *I'm not saying it is a redundant useless product, but without any outstanding features or functions that has gripped consumers, it's certainly seeming that way right now. Dedicated software will probably make the thing shine in a year or two, then we'll know exactly what we need this thing for, if we do actually need it. Not sure exactly what is going on there, but it scares me. But what I ment by decent stylus is one that supported pressure and tilt(I want it to draw with) so it'll be impossible to get that from a third party. But just to be sure, I'll download a drawing app and go grab a slim jim to give it a shot.
  24. Brütal Legend overload...!

Yeah, that would be pretty incredible, especially for a PC adventure game in any era. 1 million copies doesn't mean much anymore though its kind of the default break even mark for a lot of games. Though I'd imagine with music licenses, celebrity voice acting, Brutal Legend probably was pretty expensive. I still think it was a pretty good game that needs more of a chance to shine by building on what it did right for a sequel, I just hope it gets that chance.
  25. iPad

Yep, this thread pretty much outlines my problems with it. Also I'll include something possibly preposterous, but can we get a friggin style with it? Decent stylus + functional photoshop = art dream. Of course that'd probably add another couple grand to the price, so I'll wait until something offers fixes for the other issues first.
