I didn't think there was dlc yet. First Light doesn't come out until August. I got all the trophies in this game over the weekend and that's the first time I've ever bothered to get all of those things for a game before. It's a good solid game, but the complaints against it aren't really untrue either. The sad thing is that it's a superhero game with open level design, but it's not really much of an open world game. There's nothing to "do" in the world. You can't play around with it like it's a toy. Kind of how I felt about AC games. In GTA you can fool around and do whatever but in AC and Infamous games you do your missions and nothing else really. Scouring the city for collectibles is a fun thing to do if you're into that but it doesn't really justify a giant open world city.

I didn't think Dinklage was so bad except for a few really awful lines. He's playing a robot and I think most of his lines can be as straightforward as he reads them. Mostly the "Lots of movement ahead...." line was the most grating. It sounds to me like they just gave him one take and went with it. Maybe they can have him do a second take.

The Last Metroid is NOT in Captivity; The Galaxy is NOT at Peace
Boris Stoke replied to tegan's topic in Video Gaming
Personally, I'm of the opinion that Other M's failings had nothing to do with it being developed in Japan so much as it was developed by Team Ninja. That was a joint venture no one asked for. -
I played some of the Alpha last night. It's fantastic. I wish there were some quick chat commands for party members who aren't using mics, though. Or even just for running into people who aren't in your party. It seems there are "story" instances and "exploration" instances so you always come across someone who's doing what you're doing. It's also a bit more Journey-ish in that people just sort of show up but in your area but it's not like you go to a land and see a hundred players all killing the same enemies you're trying to. It's like a controlled filter. The story missions are the highlight for me so far because it just feels like a new single player epic fps from bungie that I can play coop if I choose. Exploration is pretty MMO-ish other than the fact that there are no quest logs. You get one mission and you do it or you abandon it. You don't jungle a dozen of them at once.

The Last Metroid is NOT in Captivity; The Galaxy is NOT at Peace

Metroid was the most glaring omission from Nintendo's E3, but fortunately everything else was pretty cool. They need to hire more developers or something because it's crazy that we haven't had a metroid since Other M. I don't want Nintendo to start annualizing franchises or anything, but a couple metroids per console generation isn't too much to ask I don't think. Especially when Nintendo needs the system sellers. Splatoon looks cool, Captain Toad looks cool.... but those aren't system sellers. Retro is, presumably, working on a new franchise (IP, whatever) but no one knows at the moment. It seems they're done with Donkey Kong Country for a while, which is fine. We don't really need another one until we get a new nintendo system. I wish Nintendo understood the demand for HD remakes. Metroid Prime Trilogy HD would be a great way to tide us over while they're figuring out what to do. -
I'm really disappointed that his twitter account isn't "@nomansguy." Great interview though. He is a jedi master like Miyamoto. He does a good job of explaining a lot without actually explaining anything.

Project Steam (aka steampunk Abraham Lincoln)
Boris Stoke replied to singlespace's topic in Video Gaming
Word on the street (a street in LA I guess) is that the game is very similar to Valkyria Chronicles. So that should make a couple people happy. I'm not digging the look either, but I was thinking more of the uniforms those dudes are wearing. I don't think the game actually looks ugly. I want to see steampunk Lincoln. But I won't be happy unless we get some cybernetic Frederick Douglass in there too. DIVERSITY. -
Is anyone else strangely excited for the new Wolfenstein game?
Boris Stoke replied to Architecture's topic in Video Gaming
I really want this game, but it comes out just a week or so before Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8. I can't handle this much all at once! -
You can tell he is in charge because he has Sherpas to keep his grenades from rolling down hills.

We hear nothing about Half Life 3.

I love Twin Snakes. The only real problem with it is that they tried too hard to emulate the controls for MGS2 even though the gamecube had one less button. They really should have just come up with their own thing. If I recall correctly, it took three different button presses at the same time to put your gun away without shooting anyone if you'd already drawn it. Just weird stuff. It would have been nice if they took advantage of those clicky triggers the cube controller had, but they instead used those for equipment selection just like the PSX version did. I did a playthrough like this before MGS4 came out and that was a lot of fun, though I never finished. Heck, I only beat the first metal gear and half of MG2. But still! A fun adventure. This might be a good opportunity to right what once went wrong in my life. I'm really hoping this psnow service has some metal gear games on it, though, so I don't have to hook up an old system to play them. Also, I'll second whoever mentioned Ghost Babel. That game was great.

Ugh, you guys! This is actually looking pretty good! I've been holding a candle for the return of something like Spider-Man 2 for years and have been disappointed time and again when developers keep thinking "hey, let's making the swinging simpler so you only have to use one button" or "hey, let's not have the webbing attach to buildings" or "hey, let's make a game where you don't even swing around the city derp derp." This time though, dare I believe? Let's talk about how great the Spider-Man 2 game was and how we hope this might be pretty good maybe!

I'm digging this game. As miffy said, it's not very different from Infamous 2 overall, but it is tighter and more fluid and all sorts of fancy. They really spent a lot of time working on the combat and giving you more to do than just shooting guys a bunch. It works great. The pacing of the game feels off, if I want to be picky. You go from linear mission to linear mission and while there are side quests they are more often in the form of collectibles in an area than some new mission you get that's unique. I wish there was more random superhero type stuff to do. I did a mission where I busted up some drug users and destroyed their product and that was more interesting to me than fighting off people who think Delsin is a bio terrorist. Also, I hate the name Delsin. I keep saying Deslin when I talk about the game and it's driving me crazy. Why do you have to have a weird name, guy!

What mode do you guys tend to play? Honestly, I've never been big on "classic" but the simple mission mode where it gives you a new weapon every kill kind of drives me nuts. I want to be able to choose my weapon and not be stuck with a pistol if I do too well.

Yeah, Far Cry 2 is an interesting story. You're a good guy, but only just. You should watch the 24 made for tv movie, Redemption. It's the Far Cry 2 of movies, but Jack Bauer has a more noble motive.

You shouldn't do that. An elephant never forgets. Never.

I'm pumped for the setting, but I sure wish we could get a new AC to go back in time before guns were invented. The setting in AC1, despite not being the best game, was the most interesting for me. According to kotaku the movement system is going to be redone, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm just hoping for something more fluid at this point. What was impressive in AC1 has aged terribly. But hey, I still like climbing buildings.

I have this on steam! If I'm around when everyone is telefragging through the stars I'll pop in. I could go for some Quake III.

You can't go wrong with Yeats. He wrote my favorite poem, The Cloths of Heaven, which Sean Bean reads in the movie, Equilibrium. His character loves the poem as much as I do! I don't know if anyone mentioned Poe already, but he's still a good pick. He's not the best poet, but you can't go wrong with a twisted Poe poem. Or maybe you can. Whatever, man!

Cry of Fear: Beware the False Scoops
Boris Stoke replied to MixedUpzombies's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I'm not a big fan of Cry of Fear, but I'd be up for some co-op sometime. I'd recommend setting up an event through steam to try and coordinate. I could probably do something some Saturday. -
Hey, I'd gladly take Monaco or Antichamber if you still have these codes.

"I like ... Thief ... this reboot/sequel ... great." - IGN.com Sadly, despite all the harsh reviews I really want to play this game still. Mostly I am just really itching for a stealth game for my shiny PS4. AC4 doesn't really cut it. Hiding in bushes is basically the extent of its stealth.

Honestly, I really enjoyed House of Leaves. I had picked it up because someone said "hey this book is like silent hill" and I said "hey, I like silent hill." I never finished it though. It disturbed me at some point and I shelved it for a while and never got back to it. And then the bookmark fell out and who knows how to find where I left off. I still like it, but I guess since I never finished it I'd feel weird ever recommending it.

This game sure is pretty great, but I hate Trevor SO MUCH. I can't tell if I'm getting old and out of touch with youths or if Rockstar just isn't so good at satire anymore. This game feels like they threw in things to push the boundaries simply for the sake of pushing boundaries.

Monster Hunter 3 Thumtimate WiiU/3DS
Boris Stoke replied to AteBit's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I long to play this online as well, but alas I also have the 3ds version. I didn't know it couldn't go online before I bought it. Fortunately, the game has grabbed me with its meat hooks. It is a weird thing to like a Monster Hunter game.
