The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
Rueler replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
They'll be at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August. -
Well, that's because that is the only price you'll be able to find it at. Yes, $20 is really the MSRP for Deadly Premonition.
-
I just watched The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights, which documents their 2007 tour they did of every single Canadian province. It's a must-see if you're a White Stripes fan.
-
Are you watching the Vinny/Jeff ones? They've been doing a bunch of random sidequests and just running around and goofing off. They seem to quite enjoy peeking into people's houses.
-
I registered almost a year ago and STILL I am not activated. I'll pretty much just assume I was rejected for some reason, but they never emailed me to say, so I really have no clue. I still check Neogaf fairly regularly because it's the best place to go if you want to see what gaming news is breaking.

I can't even think of the last game it was that I specifically needed to read the manual for because the game itself did not have a good enough tutorial or wasn't self-explanatory enough. As games as a medium develops, there seems to be a certain "language" that is consistent among similar games. That is, if you know how to play Halo, you'll know how to play the newest Call of Duty. This obviously isn't the case for all games, though.

Roger Ebert rehashes old debate even indie hipsters are tired of
Rueler replied to Forbin's topic in Video Gaming
Yesterday, Shawn Elliott (of video games fame) made a series of tweets on his feelings about this topic, which I quite agree with (although I really wish he would have just put it in his blog instead of twitter). Here are all of the tweets put together in paragraph form: -
Isn't the main point of a game manual to instruct people how to play the game? Even if I am unsure of how to do something in a game, I never think of looking in the manual, I just type in "how do I 'X thing' in 'X game'?" It seems like most people are disappointed that their games don't come with cool art instead of the fact that they are losing the instructions on how to play. You guys just might have to fork over more money for the special editions of games that seem to usually include extra art.

I think that Ebert's recent tweet shows that we shouldn't even waste our time trying to state any case for games. This pretty much shows what he thinks of games. -
I completely agree. Anybody who likes Wes Anderson's style of movies would love this. By the way, to anyone interested, Moon is on Netflix instant. I highly recommend it.

you could just tell edit your settings in Facebook to have them stop sending you emails...
-
Would Gmail do that? How do they know I don't want the email?
-
Are you guys giving your email out to every site on the internet that asks for it? I get hardly any spam, save the annoying newsletters that random sites that I sign up for like to send out.
-
Oh no, spammers are evolving!
-
Maaan I'm way too excited for this game and it's still over a month away
-
That's exactly what I mean. The setting for Darksiders was perfectly suited for metal, and if I remember, they just had some cookie-cutter orchestral music that seems basic to a lot of games.
-
Apparently they've more than doubled their page views that they usually get in a certain time period. I'm happy for them that they're finding ways to be successful.
-
I was thinking the other day that if Brutal Legend had the combat system of this game i would have enjoyed it so much more. Also, Darksiders totally should have had an awesome metal soundtrack.
-
I think it's safe to say that the iPod Touch is better than any Zune (keeping in mind all of the apps).
-
Even if they do announce all of that tomorrow, I'm pretty sure we won't be getting it for a couple months.
-
Basically the same reason for me except I want Pandora to run while I use other apps.
-
Is it fairly simple to upgrade with said parts? Also, how do I know which parts to use?
-
Whoa! It's out already?

Hah. I don't want to get into an argument here; I'm not trying to change your opinion, but I'd definitely classify them more in the "post-rock" genre. By the way, they are 100% Canadian, not British. Not that I expect that knowledge to make you like them any more. -
I have been looking at sticks but so far it seems that if I go sub $100 range, I'll just find shitty sticks that break easily. Does this seem to be the case, or is there some sort of super secret place that sells awesome cheap sticks?
