  1. So recently I've sustained a rather large wound in my left forearm (cut into my muscle) rendering my 'aswd' fingers unable to operate optimally. (long story short my army went through some glass and 25 stitches later I'm stuck with point and click games.) So this got me thinking, have anyone else in here ever gotten a similar wound, broken fingers or such to prevent normal gaming habits? and how did you cope? I prolly should post this in the questions for idle thumbs thread eh?
  2. XCOM returns

Xcom: TFTD is one of my all time favorite games from the DOS age. It instilled a creepy what if sorta feeling, I think if it was 3d it could be conceptually interesting. I'd love a turn base xcom game with a modern engine and effects. with a good code one could make it so the world renders based on Line of sight. like Ultima Exedus? I know its not going to be made like I imagine it. but it could be great if done right imo. The fog of war and hearing gun lazer shots and doors opening and closing when it wasn't ur turn was the best.
  3. Worms Armageddon

Yes! and nothing is more entertaining then a full game /w everyone on Voice Chat - I'd love to see a PC Worms: Thumbsageddon session happen

  5. Injuries That Prevented Gaming.

phew! I was able to play New super mario bros last night. - couldn't shake the controller well to do some of the moves, but yay for playing a game. makes u think. all these motion controls are not injured or handicap friendly!

bringin it back like farcry 2!
  10. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

I think it was dead when i started it not enough people like stalker apparently? I still gotta just sit down and play it for a day straight with the shades drawn to get the full effect. If only the controls felt more intuitive. Seems like the UK has a different standards for typical Shooter defaults
  11. Imagine if you will, having no choice, no petition you could sign (lol) to change this fact. How would you approach the game market? lets assume in this alternate reality, all games became essentially DLC. It's tied to a User Account which is tied to a credit card. Even the games you buy at your local favorite video game store you bring home and the rights to play are unlocked by linking this game to your User Account via something similar to a CD-Key - all games require authentication servers and all that fun stuff. No Resale, No Returns. How would this change your buying habits? How would you research before purchasing a game? Would you be more demanding of a quality game that meets the price point they've set? or lower prices? With the continuing trend of DLC and unfinished products I find myself worried that the console industry is slowly moving toward this in effort to phase out what they consider lost profits. As we all know a lot of people either borrow games from friends after they have completed them or rent them in they don't plan on playing the multi-player aspect if its only got like 20 hours of play. What price point would you demand of a game at this point? what do you feel is owed to you as a gamer for that purchase?
  12. Sony gets sued.

see also: http://ps3movies.ign.com/ps3/document/article/108/1086720/gov.uscourts.cand.226894.1.0.pdf Surprised this isn't being debated on here at all? - this essentially tho I don't see anything seriously changing anytime soon, change alot about gaming. Imagine the door being opened up to where the agreement when purchasing as is meant it had to stay as is. this could effect patching, mods, and the like, no? very interested to see where this goes.
  13. Sony gets sued.

The argument they're making is the removal of functionality that was advertised. my example is the removal of something advertised in a game. while it's completely ridiculous business move to make, like say, taking out the classes in TF and turning into everyone uses every weapon and all move at the same speed etc etc. the reason this interests me is because I'm wonder if there is an actual limitation to what can and cannot be modified in software after its release. Realistically I just see this meaning that software or products that operate under a license use agreement will just add a paragraph saying they reserve the right to update/remove etc etc from now on. but I guess since i work at a law firm I find this quite interesting
  14. Sony gets sued.

very true, still - it brings up the questions about what rights do developers have to change the product you have bought. I mean, say you enjoy playing BC2 - you love playing RUSH mode and bought it specifically for this. and few weeks later they release a patch taking out RUSH mode claiming it bogged down servers. Now BC2 has no modding community, you can't run your own server. and all server update to this patch. Unless you update you cannot play BC2 online anymore. Would you not feel robbed?
  15. What if renting/borrowing became extinct?

It's spooky to think about if games somehow all went toward cloud services. for me I'd definitely buy a lot less games as well, I would hope that something like this would in a way backfire on studios and distributors where if as a whole people are buying less they'd be forced to make higher quality games due to the risk that if someone saw a demo or game trailer and wasn't sold on wanting it they'd have on less person. in addition I'd hope that in effect would mean that multi-player games might find their way back to lasting more then a few months trend before dying out. but seriously. think about the game industry and how it -could- survive or what would happen if it went in this direction. I for one am already really turned off by games that aren't everything the packaging promises.
  16. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

I still haven't finished the single player. funny enough, while i was waiting for some downloads to finish last night I jumped in to continue my game. not sure which mission it is but you need to go to 3 spots in the desert. well I went to two of them and essentially at each place one of my guys hung out - the last place i was trying to goto seemed to be inside of a castle which the doors where shut and I couldnt get in i think it bugged on me so i drove around doing some STUNTS! good times.

  22. For music, I do know indie projects often find music for their games or even movies etc from a site like Jamendo. Write songs you think would be good in a video game, sign-up sign the contracts and people might license it from you through them. its a lazy way to hope someone finds you however. but if your into writing songs and don't know where to start. give it a whirl.
