The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite
Sean replied to Sean's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Generally in the evenings, Pacific time. It sounds like you're not actually a jingoist in this case as much as you are just "anti-Brazilian Dota player." -
Those monsters. And yes, Bay Area bridges all charge motos the same, which is a drag. That being said, I rarely commute on the bike as the weather coming over the Golden Gate can really take a turn sometimes and you just don't want to deal with it.

Meanwhile in San Francisco...

I want you to know that I have been shackled to a desk working on a stupid stupid video game and seeing motorcycle trip photos makes me want to jump through a window.

Jake and I share many things but a car is not one of them. He can sleep in Jake's Golf. -

Yes. SF is a beautiful money pit. -

Jake and I commute from SF and it's a very easy drive, both ways. Rarely longer than 30 minutes. Usually 20 on the dot. -
There's not a firm deadline but try to get them back to us as soon as possible -- we'll probably have to draw a line in the not-so-distant-future but that's tbd.

You'll have to send us a Kickstarter message

Yeah, was super fun -- feel like I'm actually starting to figure out how to be a good Support Lord so we will have to keep the Consortium goin'. If I'm online past 9pm Pacific time I'm usually down to play a round (although I might take a break from work if I can coerce Breckon on the east coast into a game some night this week). -
Here is the size chart we're using for men and the one we'll be using for women!
-
I will play this game and enjoy it if the voice heard at the end is that of the tiger you see a few seconds before.

It is indeed that, precisely. We're still trying to find the right office chairs so I brought four of those bad boys from home. Stay tuned for a great office chair reveal.

They are intriguing.

Send us a Kickstarter message with your info after the backer survey goes out and we'll get it sorted -- thanks for the heads up!

Fact! I read that a while back and exploded. -
Good catch -- we'll definitely want that in here when we drop the SICKEST NEW IDLE THUMBS DOT NET YOU'VE EVER SEEN
-
That is a FANTASTIC example of a good first project.

A good way to go, I think, is to think of something achievable you want to make. I have a hard time doing tutorials and reading how to books but if I say "my goal is build x and have it do y," I find I learn better. Learning is hard -- having a goal outside of just "my goal is to learn," will help you persevere when the hill gets steep.

I appreciate you saying "friends," here and not "one time Sean was hammered and got taken to 2nd and Folsom and it cost him thirty dollars to get home." -

Also, I should clarify, when I say "don't move here," I mean "I think this is the greatest city on the planet and will expound on it's many virtues (one being it's tolerant and interesting people) but don't want any of my lauds to influence anyone to move here because rent is high and the more people who realize SF is awesome, the worse it's gonna get." Not "don't move here, jerk." -

I would definitely draw a hard line between "the Bay Area" and San Francisco proper. I've lived in lots of different places and would say that SF, the city, is home to some of the most thoughtful, diverse and generally just decent people I've ever met. I wouldn't say the same for rural counties or suburbs, although I believe you can find great people anywhere. But being a bigot in SF makes you the minority. You're an out of touch loser here. You have to be kind of curious to live in a city like this because you're going to meet people you don't understand and be in a place that gets better and better the more you dig around and explore. That being said, don't move here. Stay out. Rent is high enough already. -

We should probably just go ahead and say that if we ever talk about our own work (especially because Jake and I's is so narrative focused) it's probably going to be pretty spoilery. Furthemore, and we'll mention this on the book-cast, those episodes are going to be nothing BUT spoilers in that we will talk about every aspect of the book, assuming ya'll have read it. If not, and I don't mean to be snarky, but hit that pause button -- it's pretty rare that we'll start talking about a game or anything for that matter and without warning blurt out: SHE DIES IN THE END OH MAN SHE DIES! By which I mean we're not trying to lure you in so we can spoil stuff; it just comes out when you're having a discussion of any meaningful criticism. -
that seat cover is tremendous.

Although reading that flyer it seems like these dudes are way classier than that Pay no mind. This is some straight up Lawrence of Arabia shit.
