Yeah, I felt exactly the same. Really depressing the damn title of the GAF thread is so snarky. It wasn't quite so originally, but some mod changed it. Gross.
  2. Fez 2

Hah, it really is depressing how much hatred and vitriol is being thrown at Phil.
  3. Fez 2

Wasn't Chris being facetious? Anyway, I agree with your post entirely. Nothing but love and respect for Phil. Really disgusted and disappointed with the internets reaction. Glad fellow thumbs have some sense and empathy.
  4. With you as their teacher how could it have gone so wrong? Just teasing! I think we can all agree to disagree that post-modernism is a sad reflection of their times and happily move on. Yay!
  5. If there is no 'truth', who is to say that your interpretation of history is any more valid than Sid's? What makes you more trustworthy than anybody else?
  6. I'm not sure Civ has ever tried to give an accurate rendition of history, and so criticizing it for that seems a bit specious.I'm disappointed that oranges aren't apples, but that doesn't mean there is something inherently wrong with oranges.
  7. Osamu Tezuka

Yeah, I think I remember that being the case when I looked in to it previously. Frustrating! I just want the first and the price is crazy.
  8. Nintendo 3DS

Playing Attack, to, and think its fan-freaking-tastic! Tegan, have you tried it? I think it's right up your alley. I really love the atmosphere. I'm in northern Japan and there are still lots of small towns that feel like this around here- pretty neat!
  9. Nintendo 3DS

Hah, I've got $20 and I'm thinking of getting the new Guild game, Attack of the Tokyo Monsters. Everything else is kinda up in the air, but thinking of Gunman Clive, Pushmo or maybe that Shantae game from DSi ware...Or Cave Story. Yeah, jeez, it's hard to choose where to start.
  10. Osamu Tezuka

I used the first volume of Phoenix to practice my Japanese alphabet reading skills a few years back. Couldn't understand the words, but helped increase my reading speed, hah! Is the English edition easy to find? Would be interested in getting it someday.
  11. Nintendo 3DS

What's worthwhile to pick up on the eshop?
  12. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I don't have the green blazer, alas, but I'd love to get my hands on the beige one! Any chance I can stop by and catalog it?
  13. I have wanted to share these books here for a long while but just have not had the time. Well, I got The Seekers for my birthday last month and am nearing its end (so sad to finish books you do not want to finish, alas that is another topic altogether!). Hearing Chris talk about Civilization 5 on a recent podcast reminded me of one of the things that I love about these books: they unabashedly celebrate culture, history and the arts. This is a wonderful, enlightening, encouraging and incredible series that I highly recommend people read. They do not need to be read in order, and each are full of short chapters that make them a breezy read. Daniel Boorstin was a professor, historian, attorney and writer who had been the 12th Librarian of Congress from 1975 to 1987. In 1983 he published The Discoverers, subtitled 'a history of man's search to know his world and himself.' In his own words: In 1992 he released the second of the trilogy, The Creators, subtitled 'a history of heroes of the imagination'. Where The Discoverers focused on science and invention, The Creators focused on artists: Finally, in 1998 he last book of the trilogy, The Seekers, 'the story of man's continuing quest to understand his world.' The final focus is on religion and philosophy. Unfortunately I do not have a good quote for this one, but it has been just as interesting as the others. Has anyone read any of these?
  14. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Yep! I only had the game for five days at that point and so never had the opportunity to buy turnips for myself. People generally tip well, some better than others... GAF tends toward the extremely generous, while gamefaqs varies. Definitely worth keeping an eye on the prices! It can take a lot of time and gets pretty tiring so if it wasn't for the tips I wouldn't have bothered. And the stream of people that want in is nearly endless, hah, good thing the shops close at some point.
  15. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I got turnips for 644 bells Friday last week. Was able to get over 7 million in tips!
  16. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Added youuuuuuu, and you're currently playing now. Can you open your gates within the next ten minutes or so? After I gotta run to work!
  17. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I'd love your extra hero's cap if it's still available. Have you posted your FC?
  18. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I added you but I don't think you've added me yet! Check out the 3DS thread in this multiplayer forum for everyone's FC. Mine is 2294-4298-0966 all the same.
  19. 3DS Friend Codes

Ah you're right, sorry! I added everyone who posted their code on this page, my mistake. But I've added you now! Love your message, haha. Also added Tanukitsune, miffy and Jon_Danger. Friend codes are such a pain in the ass, gg Nintendo.
  20. 3DS Friend Codes

I got a 3DSXL and Animal Crossing for my birthday! I added everyone on this page so please add me, too! 2294-4298-0966
  21. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

June is the rainy season! It's been raining a bunch in real Japan, too, hahaha. Another week and I'll be able to join you guys. Woowoo!
  22. Nintendo 3DS

Haha, yeah i appreciate everyones help answering my questions. I have special circumstances that make me frustrated at the direction Nintendo is going with the 3DS. I live in Japan so the region locking is a pain in the ass, and the account system is just another layer of ugly. Downloading games is a lot easier (and cheaper) than importing them from the States, but tying them to the system is frustrating. Anyway, I'm planning on getting one at the end of the month if all goes well. Will let you guys know when I do! Thank you once again.
  23. Nintendo 3DS

Glad moving stuff from SD to SD is so easy. Wish Nintendo had a normal account system instead of locking software to hardware. Really puts a damper on my enthusiasm for the system. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
  24. Nintendo 3DS

I played the first EO way back when, could be fun to dip into it again. Could try out the demo and see if it still holds myninterest i guess. Not sure how interested I am in the other JRPGs though, maybe Bravely Default but that is still a ways off as I understand it. Sorry for asking the same questions over and over. That said, I am curious and confused about SD cards. How big should I look in to? How big are downloaded games? How many can fit on a 4GB card? I'm looking at the Animal Crossing 3DXL which comes with just 4. Do I need to juggle multiple cards...?
  25. Nintendo 3DS

Ooh, 3D Land does interest me, and I am hypothetically interested in the new Pokemans, or at least might be closer to release. What's so special about Swapnote?
